***Edited to add***: We're ready to begin taking orders - PM me if you're interested. Thanks!!

Check out www.desertpaws.org for information on how to order the pet calendar.

Some DIS'ers have already received theirs, and seem to be pleased with how it turned out.

Thanks!! :flower: :cat:

I'm attempting to put together a calendar for 2006, with photos of different pets (rescued or otherwise).

Once the calendar is put together, I'm hoping to sell it to raise funds for an organization called Desert Paws (see www.desertpaws.org).

If you're interested in contributing a photo, please let me know - you can post your pet photos here, with the name, age, breed and whether or not the pet is a rescued pet.

Either that, or email a photo to me at

cookiegvb@yahoo.com

Thanks, everyone!

OK, hopefully this pic'll work...this is my cat, Rowan. He's 8 years old, is a blue tabby, and I got him at the Humane Society when he was about 8 weeks old. :D

Darn, imagestation is down. Simba looks just like Rowan. I guess there is always the blinking collar pic.:teeth:

In case you need another, here's a pic of Chopper (rt) and Izzy (named for Jason Isringhausen of the Cardinals and Al MacInnis of the Blues), 2 kittens that were rescued by my parents (with a little persuading from me) in the summer of 2002. Their mother was wild and had set up shop to have her kittens in a neighbor's barn. The neighbor didn't discover the kittens till they'd been there for a few weeks and subsequently tried to catch the mother (to get her to the vet, get shots, etc.), using one of the humane cage-type traps. Once she was captured and taken to the vet, it was discovered that something had attacked her and she'd gotten a nasty infection in her eye, one that was so bad it'd spread to her brain. Unfortunately, she couldn't be saved.

Her kittens are all doing well to this day, however (other than Izzy getting in trouble for sharpening his claws on the couch); some other neighbors of my parents adopted the other 2 kittens and absolutely adore them.

How about Binky in my signature.......she is now 15 and was a rescue, no specific breed just pure white with yellow-green eyes, she also has the most lovable personality, she brings me little furry mice all the time, when I am in bed, outside the shower etc. I even found one in a shoe that I found on a Disney trip! I think she wanted me to remember that she was still at home! Of course when she does that she screams so I know what a great little hunter she really is!

Here is a pic of Max my lab and Scooby our rescue dog.

Here is a photo I took of The Old Cat during his final summer in 1999. He was a stray who showed up at our door nearly starved. He also had been attacked by something and had a really bad neck wound. After months of treating it and a 6 month quarantine for rabies, he was given a clean bill of health. My best guess is that he had some Maine Coon in him and was about 12 years old when he went to Rainbow Bridge.

He spent the rest of his life with us and was just the best cat! I still miss him. :sad1:

Monty Dog is a 22 month old Jack Russell. We got him from a breeder. He was the runt of his litter. We have fallen in love with him and Jack's in general and plan to adopt our next one from a rescue.

I have furry creatures, but no pics, but I'm loving all these pics of everyone else's. I would so buy that calendar if you do it. :D

Here's some pictures of Maggie. She is now a 7 month old purebred flat coated retriever. These pictures were taken when she was approx 3 months old.

Both my boys are shelter rescues. Wedge, the black one, is almost 4. We picked him out from the ASPCA as a kitten in July 2001. Tycho, the white one, is probably 5ish. We adopted him from the same shelter in February 2002 as a "young adult".

All of your babies are so cute!
My sister has an online pet gift basket business at www.kimspets.com. Maybe she would be interested in selling your calendar; She does a lot of fund raising with products and events. Her cat and dog, that she features on the site are from animal rescues.

Oh, Let me see if I can get a picture of Koda (my golden ret.) up-- he's a beautiful rescue doggy!

I have always had pets from the humane society or a stray...and they have each had hearts of gold and stolen pieces of mine along the way.

This is Charlie. He was my angel boy. I miss him dearly as he passed away from liver failure in March...too soon he was only 7 years old. :guilty:

Charlie again. He was saved from the streets, when I found him he was skin and bones. He adored my DD.

This is Whitley. I got her from the pound when I was in college. She was the most loyal and loving dog anyone could ever have. She had to be put to sleep last Friday so my heart is still breaking for her...she was 15 years old.

Meet Prince Sampson, who we call Sampie. When Chrarlie died, my dd wanted another kitty. I took her to the pound and she found this little guy. He looked just like Charlie and she said Charlie had sent him here just for us to love...so home he came.

Sampie is about 2 years old. When we adopted him in April of 2004 he was 1 year old. He is a sweetie pie who follows my DD everywhere.

Here are some pictures of my Sebastian-- he wasn't a rescue kitty from a shelter, but I got him from a friend who had rescued some kittens off the street. ;)

Here's baby Sebastian:

And this is Sebastian (on right, as a kitten) with my late kitty, Sydney. :( They weren't related but looked SO much alike!

We do have another kitten, Chloe, who we DID get from the local shelter, but I don't have any good pictures of her on my computer here at work....

CheshireVal - Sebastian and Sydney are both beautiful! It's hard to imagine somebody tossing cutie pies like this away isn't it.
