See page 12 on thread for updated info...2008 calendars are ready to go!! Thanks everyone for the photos - now I'm collecting for 2009! :)

********************

I'm baaack!! :thumbsup2 Thanks, Pete!

This is year number three that I'm putting a pet calendar together to benefit Desert Paws (check them out at www.desertpaws.org ). In the past, we've had well over 300 pet photos in our calendar, and last year we raised a little over $2,000 - thanks in large part to the pet-loving people on the DIS. :cat:

I've collected quite a few photos from DIS'ers so far - please, if you haven't already, would you share your pet photo(s) with us. Please list the pet's name, breed, and whether or not it was a rescued pet (non-rescued pets are definitely welcome!).

If you don't have the photo on your computer, and only have a hard copy that you'd like to mail, please PM me for my address.

I've seen so many beautiful pet photos on the DIS - won't you share them with us, so that we can help other pets?

I'll let everyone know when the calendars are available for sale.

Thanks, everyone!

Here's one of my pets - Reilly, the beagle, who was rescued from our local Humane Society.

This is her big brother Jack. He is 5 years old. These are my "furry babies". They mean the world to me. I would have 20 doggies if I had the room!

Here's our puppy. Her name is Roxy, a 4 month old Dachshund. She is so darn adorable! We got her from a local breeder.

Oh and none were rescued.

Motor on the left (he was a pound kitty) and Stitch on the right (he was rescued from being washed down a rain gutter when he was 8 weeks old). Motor is a Siamese mix and we're not sure what Stitch is.

Here are my kitties:

Sebastian, siamese mix. A co-worker found him on the streets as a kitten and I adopted him:

Chloe, tortoiseshell. We rescued her from the shelter.

This is one of my dogs, Gabe. he is almost 5 yrs old and a Lab/Chow mix as far as the vet can tell. He is a rescued dog.

I got him outside the SPCA as he was about to be turned in. his previous owner said that his niece rescued him about 6 months before and he had been very badly abused. for the first 6 weeks or so with us, he hated my DH. And if you gave him a fist to smell, he would back up and growl. he also would not go into hallways or small rooms. it was hard enough getting him through doorways. Now he is very loved and loves everyone. he even let me take him to school and the my DS's Kindergarten class take turns patting him and hgging him.

This is Cisco, a part-Siamese who was adopted from the Humane Society at the same time as Rowan, my fat blue tabby. This pic was taken about 9 years ago when she was about 9 months old; she looks essentially the same now, with the same skinny little legs and tiny feet, but she now looks like she swallowed a football.

The next 2 are both of Izzy (his sister Chopper is in the background of the 1st); both of them were rescued with their feral mother on my parents' street. Unfortunately, the mother had to be put down when they were all taken into the vet for checkups because she'd been attacked by something and a wound had gotten so infected that the bacteria had spread to her brain. Her kittens were only about a month old at the time, but all of them went to fantastic homes (namely, those of my parents and their friends).

This was the only position Izzy liked to sleep in, on his back and bent at a right angle:

Here are sister cats, Cookie and Lily, on the day we picked them up from a Humane Society in the Baltimore area:

This is Dusty. He is around 4 years old. He was a stray roaming around the neighborhood so we took him in. He was hungry, dehydrated and very scared. We flyered everywhere and when no one claimed him, we kept him for good. Took him to the Vet, shots, fixed and declawed. He is still a Scare Dee Cat and hates loud noises but at times he can be really Lovable too. According to the Vet he is a Domestic Short Hair Tiger

Best Wishes with your calandar

This first pic is my puppy Chloe and kitten Sadie. They are both 11 weeks in this photo. Chloe is our miracle puppy. She was brought into the vet malnourished, infested with fleas and hookworms. The owner wanted her put down. The vet was able to get him to surrender her and nobody thought she would make it through the night. After a blood transfusion and lots of tlc she's a happy and healthy puppy today! Sadie is her best friend and we rescued her from the animal shelter. Chloe is a mix with german shepard and something else. Sadie is a domestic shorthair.

The second one is our cat Gigi. She was abandoned outside an apartment complex when her owner moved. She is about 4 and a domestic shorthair.

DSCN0009.jpg

The third pic is of my cat Missy. She was given to the humane society when her owner decided her allergies were too bad to keep her. She is about 8 and a domestic shorthair. She and Gigi are best friends and play together.
