Pet friendly?

I would like to find out what percentage of our members would like to see ANY accomodation made for pets. This would, of course have to be within the rules of DVC

I am "slave" to three furry little animals but I don't like the idea of a pet friendly DVC. Having severe allergies--luckily for me none to animals--I am understanding of those who have allergies to pets, fleas, and the treatments used to minimize dander and fleas. I think the trouble alone to keep the facilities allergy free for our other guests would be too much and costly as well. Just as there are a few smokers who feel they can smoke in a non-smoking room there would be a few pet owners who would do the same and it would be hard to control.

While I love my cat and hate leaving her when we go on vacatipon I voted no pets for a few reasons - allergies, poop-a-scoopers and noise level to name a few of them. Annmarie

Absolutely not. I adore animals and have 4 furry friends of my own. A shepard tried to attack me once and both of my girls have been bitten by dogs. I would be a nervous wreck if I knew dogs were in the same building.
Also, what do you think a male cat does when put in a strange room? Marks his territory. They can smell if another cat has been there no matter how well the rooms are cleaned.

If they built a separate dvc, then maybe.

I posted on the other thread, I voted yes to the limited option but with this disclaimer: I would not be in favor of converting any of the existing DVC resorts to pet sites. If Eagle Pines gets built, I believe it will have units similar to OKW. I would not be opposed to a couple of those units being designated pets-only if they were positioned on the edge of the resort and those who booked them would be billed a fee to cover all additional expenses associated with having animals.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but Disney does have "Pet Rooms" already. There are 5 I think, locations where you can board your pet that are on property. Not only CAN you visit your pet anytime they are there, but you are required to visit you pet and walk your dog at least once a day. Never done this as we are way too far from home to drag our "kids" with us, but have read other posts in the past of what great accomodations Disney provides for their 4 legged guests. While we all feel guilty of leaving them behind, I agree, Disney resorts are NOT the place for all the reasons mentioned. I would never consider it for my own and would never expect it of someone else. It's just not the place.

What about if they built kennels at the resorts instead of at the parks? Still no pets in the rooms, but you could visit your pet more conveniently at your resort. If it was a DVC resort, you could use points for your pet to stay at the kennel.

But I voted no pets at the resorts.

Does everyone who voted yes either have VERY small pets or drive?

To me one of the big risks to traveling with pets is the actual travel. I would never subject a pet of mine to the airplane cargo hold!

Yes, my pet is small enough to travel with us in the cabin. I agree with you that I would NEVER put my pet in the cargo hold.

I voted "no" even though I have travelled with my 100+ pound Akita and stayed in hotels with her. I would prefer to keep DVC resorts pet-free.

BTW, I assume that there are exceptions at the WDW resorts for "working dogs", those that help the blind and disabled.

DVC is for humans. They have kennels for others. I am not going to get into all the problems that allowing pets at DVC would cause. To suggest that pets be allowed at DVC is out of the question, and I know some of you have pets that don't bark or poop but most of them are in kept in aquariums.

Scanning through this thread I read 'alligators', not 'allergies'. Maybe I need to stop reading these boards and get back to work.
