Pet Free Loops

Are there any loops they guarantee will be pet free? I see some say they are pet free but then others post they had pets on them. I have a concern since we have a child who 1 is afraid and 2 has reason since he is very allergic. I'd hate to find a dog outside our door.

There are designated pet loops. However, in the event that someone should request a pet loop and they were full, or something was wrong with the site on the guest's arrival, they do reserve the right to assign that guest to a typically non-pet loop. They try to avoid this, but they exactly tell a guest who has already paid in advance for a pet site and driven hundreds of miles with their pet that they can't bring their pet to their site. It's not a regular thing, but it can happen.

Since your child is highly allergic, I would advise letting them know at the time of booking. They would probably tag your site and probably, if considering having to put someone in your loop who has a pet, not put them close to you and instead put them somewhere else. They do really good at trying to keep everyone safe and happy.

1) There are no loops GUARANTEED to be pet-free.
2) Not supposed to happen, but pets get everywhere.
. . . some due to overcrowding in the normal pet loops
. . . some due to folks sneaking in pets
3) Unless the campground went "NO PETS", don't know how to stop pets.
4) As mentioned, after your ressie is made, call in and have the allergy listed on the ressie.
5) It might help. *

* Be aware that 80%-90% of the resses are assigned by computer. Us mere mortals only have so much
leeway in room/site ssignments. However, once here, we usually can reassign an unhappy guest. Especially
early in the morning before everyone shows up for the day's check-in. This applies to both resorts and campsites.

remember that service dogs can be in the parks as you visit even in table serve places even buffets at the lines. even noting on ressie will not stop someone who needs service animal from being able to bring animal in and I have seen it done

We have family with a service dog. Service dogs will never run up to you. My concern is pets off the leash. My son takes meds and we carry an epi pen. Thank you though.

I saying this because we had a family at the small park I work at upset and complaining to guest services on us because we would not make a service dog leave the counter serve I work at because their child would react. they have not been back and make sure that everyone knows at the start of our season by letter to editor each year. just want you to be aware of the possibility.

Oh no I totally understand that and thank you! Thats just one situation we are well aware of due to family circumstances.

Off topic but, Betty have you considered a letter back to the editor? Straight from the Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division: "Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), privately owned businesses that serve the public, such as restaurants, hotels, retail stores, taxicabs, theaters, concert halls, and sports facilities, are prohibited from discriminating against individuals with disabilities. The ADA requires these businesses to allow people with disabilities to bring their service animals onto business premises in whatever areas customers are generally allowed."

Just wondering if that individual had bothered to write their Congressman instead of complaining about your park. Sounds like you could actually face charges of discrimination and closure of business if you made the animal leave.

I would take him to the doc beforehand and ask the allergist how close a pet would have to be to cause an allergic reaction. I think being in a pet free loop the odds of having a dog just run up to your son is not as likely. I do feel for you, I myself used to have extreme allergic reactions to cats and some dogs which would cause me asthma as a child. But for me personally, I would have to be in the same home where they live or an indoor building where the dog spends a lot of time. If outdoors, they would have to be extremely close to me for an extended period of time, or actually rub up against me or touch them to have a reaction. So now we have hypoallergenic dogs and they don't seem to bother us, as my husband also has dog allergies and can get rashes, etc.

1) In such a case, maybe camping is not for this family.
2) On cannot eliminate all irritants, instead, one might have to find a way to avoid them.
3) Can you imagine walking into a Texas Roadhouse Restaurant and asking them to put away the peanuts? *

* They are known for buckets of peanuts on the table, people shelling them, and frequently throwing the shells on the floor.
