We are planning on taking our standard poodle on vacation with us in May. We're gonna do Disney for 5 nights then go down to the Keys and Airbnb it. We obviously need to board him the Disney leg of our trip. I'm conflicted about Best Friends on property. It's got up and down reviews, fees are high, and the only accommodations they show are the delux villas. (No basics so I'm wondering how inadequate they are.). It bums me out you have to pay just for them to get to play with other dogs. :guilty:

Does anyone have any other recommendations? Some place maybe less expensive that keeps the dogs busy? Or maybe you had a good experience with Best Friends you'd like to share. Help! He's my extra fuzzy child!!!:dogdance:

Can't help you, we can't board our little furry beast because she is very submissive and very used to being at home with her daddy who works from home. The longest time she has ever spent alone is about 8 hours. I know Pete used them and really like them. Have you thought about renting a RV at the campgrounds, you could have him with you then.

Yeah we actually have a camper but I just don't want to camp to Disney. It's so much work and I love just going and relaxing while I'm there. Thanks for responding! Furry beast! :rotfl2:

I do understand that you want to have your pet with you during some times on your trip, however, did you consider maybe leaving him/her at home? I had a house sitter/dog sitter whenever we went on vacation. My dog would not have done well in any boarding situation. I wanted her at home.

We are in the same situation as well. I have an emotional support animal that will be trained into a PSD. We been looking at options at home and around Orlando. So far in orlando we found Preppypet and Dogvacay (your dog will be in someone else's house)

We used Best Friends More than once.
My dog who has only ever been boarded while at Disney LOVED it.
He seriously wanted to walk back thru the door to go back to his little room.
I added xtra cuddle/walk time but no xtra snacks (he had allergies)
We loved that we could ck in on him, that they were so friendly and that it's Disney after all.
And it's way adorable to boot
Wouldn't hesitate to return....
if my pup were still here :(
He was an Amazing gentle loving pup!!
:( I really miss him. :(

I've had a really good experience with rover if you're interested in a dog sitter (in your home own their's) instead of boarding.

We have boarded our basset hound at Best Friends three times now for daycare. They are a very well run facility, clean and professional. It is a little more expensive than a regular boarding place but 1) It is on Disney Property 2)Most boarders do not open as early or stay open as late 3)Most boarders will make you board over the weekend because they are closed on Sundays/Saturdays.

Dixie Lee loves the place and we always pay for the extra playtime!

Have you considered Rover? I work in rescue and in between fosters, I board dogs in my home for clients from Rover. Sitters/Boarders/Walkers go through background checks so you know they do not have criminal records and our addresses are shared on a map so everything is transparent and will make you feel more comfortable about leaving your pup with someone. Just something to consider! Good luck!
