Personalized Christmas Ornaments At DTD?

I know I've seen these at DTD's Christmas store, but I've never had any reason to purchase one until now.

Does anyone know how much their prices run for the ornaments and personalization? Also, does anyone know if there are different ornament options, such as different Mickey head ornament sizes, or if you can choose to personalize ornaments other than a Mickey head ornament?

Any pics and answers would be appreciated! My sister, mom, and I are exchanging ornaments this year, and I'd like to pick up something special in Disney next month.

TIA! :goodvibes

You can personalize almost any ornament they have there - not just the mickey heads - I know the prices of the mickey heads are like $12 or $14 each, but, you can get the cheaper plastic ornaments personalized as well. If I am correct, personalization is $3 per name or date - so it can get pretty pricey if you want to say "The XXX Family, 2007" on the ornament. I'd love to show some pics of all my personalized ornaments through the years, but, they are all packed up - I'll try to take some pics of the ones I bought last month as they aren't in the attic w/the xmas items yet.

I remember that store was crazy-busy with personalizations, so do that at the beginning of your trip so they have the week to complete it.

Here are just a few of the ornaments I picked up while we were there last month

These are personalized for each member of the family, can't really see it too well:

I have a four pack that are different colours and had them each personalized. The 4 pack was maybe $20-24 and each name was either $3 or 4 each...but totally worth it.

We put DH, me and 2 cats on them and last year we bought another one for our newest cat...yup we are cat lovers. We had one just put the date. they also have the Baby ornaments and wedding ones too...

I will see if I have any pics up when I get home.

I was going to suggest the same thing. If you're only going to be there a week, they may still not have time to do them. I once had them quote a completion date of 14 days. The good news is, you could always buy a gold or silver "extra fine point" marker & personalize them yourself. If you can write, you can do this, or have a friend who writes well do it for you. This is why I can't figure out how they get so backed up. It's not like it takes any special qualifications or training. I learned the marker trick, when they couldn't get my ornaments done in time. I agree that having them do it is more convenient. Fortunately, you aren't entirely out of luck, if they can't.

BTW, they used to personalize ornaments at the Christmas store in MK. I'm not sure if they still do. Maybe, someone knows to help you out.

They still do them at MK, and if you get there early, you are assures of it getting done that day.

You can also have the ornaments shipped home, we always do that so we don't worry about breaking them.

kimisabella, those are so cute! It looks like I'll have plenty of designs to choose from.

Thanks for all of your tips. DH and I will be down there for 8 days, so I'll make sure that we get our personalization done towards the start of our trip. I might even look into shipping them home.

And, if anyone else has pics, I'd love to see them!

I love Christmas, but Christmas plus Disney is my fantasy! :rotfl:

Ha! We're cat people, too! This sounds like something we'd end up doing, so you're not the only one. Our family only consists of DH, our two cats (who were littermates), and me.

We don't need any kids right now, we just got married back in February, and our two furbabies are enough to keep us busy. :lmao:

Anyway, that's so cute that you got all of your names on a set. We just might have to do the same! :goodvibes

I bought a few more personalized ornaments but I only took a picture of this one... as you can see one side is the date and the other side are mine & my DH names... This mickey head is huge and I LOVE IT! Its definatley one of the biggest ornaments on my tree. I am pretty sure it cost an extra $6.00 to write everything on here.. Since I wont be there in the world this year I have to call the merchandise store and get 'baby's first christmas"... Looking forward to decorating the tree each year w/ a new ornament for WDW!

kimisabella- I love the little santa's... I wish I had them! :)

Oooh. That's pretty! Thanks for the photo!

So, do you guys think it's possible for me to preorder ornaments over the phone and somehow arrange to pick them up on my trip in November? If the waiting period can be up to 14 days for personalization, I might consider ordering these beforehand.

Around Christmas time, personalization can be back logged up to a couple of weeks. Do go early if you plan on taking your ornaments home with you. If you want to have them shipped, they will send them to you as soon as they are ready. If you ship an ornament and it breaks in transit, Disney will ship you a replacement. Also, remember that if you live out of state and ship an item, you will not be charged Florida sales tax. That often covers the cost of the shipping.

Good to know! :thumbsup2

I'll be there towards the end of November, so maybe if I get mine in before the Turkey Day rush, I'll be fine. I'll definitely make it a priority to stop over at DTD our first or second day, just so we get our personalized ornaments done before we leave.

I got my my niece and nephew a Baby's First Christmas with their birthdates on it. One had Minnie on a rocking horse with a pink ball and the other with Mickey. They came out fabulous and let me say that I found the last girl one in the park last year at Christmastime. I found it at the America pavilion and had to bring it to the MK for personalization but they were having a MVMCP so I couldn't get in without purchasing a ticket to the party. I thought I may have to find someone to personalize it at home when they told me to come back in two days to pick it up. When I explained I was leaving the next day, they had it ready for me in a couple of hours in true Disney fashion. If you want to get it personalized then definitely get that squared away early. And if I knew how to post pictures I would show you how gorgeous they look but I have yet to master that skill - I take pics at the hightest resolution on my camera so that they are too big post.

We usually go to WDW the first week of Dec. and I always get a bunch of personalized ornaments. I haven't had a problem, though I do have them shipped home for me. They do a real nice job of packing them - they arrive well before xmas and in great condition.

When DH and I were on our Honeymoon in 1997 we go two ornaments, both flat and made of plastic. The first one was a wreath and we had it personalized with The "Last Name" 1997 and the second one was of Mickey and Minnie in winter outfits personalized with our first names "His" and "Hers" 1997. They're packed up so I can't post pics, and since it's been 10 years I don't remember what we paid, but I don't think it was too much. Hope this helps.

How can I order ornaments? What number do I call? Is there a website I can go to so that I can see what is offered?

You can call The Days of Christmas at DTD directly and order a personalized ornament. There is no website maintained by Disney.

If I get a chance tomorrow, I'll run by DTD and take pictures of the current ornament selection and post them.
