Personalized bricks at Polynesian

I'm also stumped on what to put down.
I am so uncreative when it comes to these things.

Is everyone faxing the order without talking to someone at Disney first?

I too am hoping someone could please send me the information on the bricks. I would like to get one as a gift for my mom. We as a family have three of the previous ones with all of our names on them. However my dad recently died suddenly and I thought this would be a nice way to start making happy memories of our coming trips together.

I put:

Stay Magical
Jen & Steve
Last Name

I wanted to put an exlamantion point after magical, but didn't know if I could put puncuation...but that's ok. I can't wait to surprise DH!! I was going to put SURPRISE! But that wouldn't be fun! I didn't put our town or state in case we ever move...A smart DISer reminded me of that point!!

Yep, I saw that too. My friend (another DISer who is getting a brick too) and I were talking about it yesterday. The way I take it they could put the brick in for one day (one minute, whatever) then remove it for any reason, and there is nothing we can do about it. It's a risk, so I can totally understand one not wanting to pay $300 without knowing what will happen. But, I think for some of us it's just worth the risk! :)

Yeah, I'm probably over-reacting (as usual). It's just that I look at contracts like this for my job, and I'd never let my company sign off on such a totally one-sided agreement.

I guess in this case, though, if Disney really did put a brick out there then toss it into the Seven Seas Lagoon the next day and resell that space, pretty soon word would get around and no one would buy the bricks any more. So it'd still be a losing strategy for them.

Realistically, I was just disappointed about the loss of the 10-year guarantee, especially given the higher price - it's still more than double the old price, even inflation adjusted.

But I've left this one up to DW. If she wants to do it, we'll do it. I had to make the DVC decision, so I've left this one in her hands. :cool2:

What is everyone else saying on their bricks? I am stuck! Our names are short (all only 5 letters) but I want it to be special!

This is our final decision and it's what I'll be faxing in soon:

The Brown Ohana
John & Terry
Craig and Robby

Just thought of something.... doesn't the word "Ohana" really look like this" 'Ohana?? Does it have the apostraphe in front of it? Good thing I haven't faxed it in yet! LOL

EDITED TO ADD: It does! It's 'Ohana.... Now the question is, should I add in the apostrophe or not? People will understand what the word is whether I include it or not... and there is space on the line to include it... Hmm...what would all of you do? Even though we are Irish, I don't want anyone to think we meant to say"O'hana" and that it is part of our name and is Irish!! LOL

I called this morning, just to talk with a real person about this offer and the man who answered the phone said that they do NOT have new bricks for sale....anyone else heard this?

Is it a case of someone answering the phone who doesn't know about the new sale or are they truly no longer available?

I'm not sure. People have charges going through on their credit cards so I hope he's wrong. Otherwise everyone is getting scammed...

Okkkkkkk, now I just received an email from Disney with an application for the brick!! Evidently, the person I spoke with on the phone didn't know what he was talking about....

I think you bring up a good question that many of us in our brick frenzy didn't really think about....has anyone's brick ever been moved on them? Or is this stipulation new to these new bricks? Also, I have read that people were told 10 years & they were still there...making it over 10 years...so that's a good thing.

Always being slightly skeptical, when I got the email with the docs I inspected the e-mail. I'm an IT pro who has been doing e-mail far longer than most of you knew about e-mail.

Everything about the e-mail indicates it is legit. It arrived on my mail server from an IP belonging to Disney, and all the internal addresses belong to Disney as well (although they could have been forged).

And one other thing...credit card seemed to be the only choice of paying, and you could always dispute it...

I don't think you overreacted, it just made you think about it more, it did with me as well. I decided $300 was worth the risk. Good luck to your DW! ;)

I would do it the correct way: 'Ohana

Either way, that's going to be cute! :)

I originally thought the same way, especially because I was forwarding the app email to soo many people. I would feel terrible if I was unknowingly perpetuating a scam of some sort. Until I received a call from Denise at WDW who verified that she received my app, I made sure to mention to the first dozen or so people to make sure that they used their credit cards instead of a debit card or something of that nature. You just never know.

As far as the price vs. the terms of the contract...IMO $300 bucks just doesn't seem that big of a deal were Disney not replace it for a legitimate reason. I've paid for dinner with friends that's easily exceeded that price, so...

That's really nice. BTW...CONGRATULATIONS. Wishing you both a wonderful wedding at Disney and a fabulous life together. You know we want to see pictures of the wedding don't you?

Thank you :)

I'll be sure to post some pictures as soon as we get them back from DPS.

Hi all - I'm also trying to figure out what to put, BUT my question is that if we go with the "Traditional" Mickey head picture - would that say 07? Then I wouldn't have to put that in the text....

Thanks!

Tracy

Hi Terry........I was having problems what to put down as you know. I decided on abbreviating Alli. This morning I thought I should have kept her name at full lenght and abbreviate my name to Shirl. :confused3 I'm really bad at this kind of stuff. Oh well, I already had faxed it in last night. I hope our bricks are close together.:goodvibes
Take care cruise buddy.

Well, I faxed it all off! Here's hoping all of us get our bricks!

Ours will be pretty simple:

The <last name>s
Kelly, Denise
& Cole

With the traditional Mickey head design :goodvibes

I had to leave off the apostrophe in the 's for our last name, and just use a plain s since the apostrophe wouldn't fit...I think it will look ok without though.

Does anyone know what's included on the bricks by default? Is it just a serial number, or is there also a date or something like that?

My $295 charge in now pending! I can't wait to see what comes next!:)

If you look on page 3 and page 9 of this thread you can see some pictures of existing bricks....the top of the brick has the picture you choose on the application form, then your 3 lines of text, and then the bottom of the brick has the locator information for the brick itself (contains numbers, letters, and a picture)
