Personality Question--Same or Different on the boards vs in real life?

I am MUCH nicer on the boards, MUCH nicer....

IRL I'm brash, loud and somewhat coquettish, but mellowing with age.

My inner soul is here, though, I think my personna here is what I want to eventually be.

I have a very dry/witty sense of humor and it is much easier to catch in person than on DIS. Sometimes I think my humor throws people off on the boards because it is hard to pick up tone of voice, etc. on a post.

The people I know in person describe me as being fun loving and kind.

I see things on these boards that I want to respond to SO badly, but I don't want to get into a huge debate. I think I'm more outspoken in person and state my opinions more freely. I think that its because even though the DISboards have a certain "family" feel to them, I don't want to offend anyone here because I don't really "know" you guys. IRL, I know my friends and family and they know me. They know my opinions on most things and I have no problem debating them. But I know them and I know the line not to cross into offensive territory. Here I have no idea where the line is (if I'm not mistaken, that doggone line is a little wiggly at times!!!!)

i would have to say i am a lot like yourself. i am much more outspoken in the real world, then i am here.
i am also more apt to make a (in fun) sarcastic comeback, but in real life you can hear the true tone, and on here it gets to be perceived in the wrong way, and can offend some.

i am (post wise- not lurker) still new, and getting to know everyone, that may change in time and more of the true me will come out. (guess that is a warning, huh?!!?)

Very different. IRL I think I have a reputation of being nice, funny, and a good story teller. Around here I think I have sort of the opposite reputation. My aversion to "smilies" doesn't bode well for me here, but doesn't affect me IRL.

I believe I am the same in real life as on the board. Both places, I will pretty much just say what I think. In real life though, I can be a little more quiet till I get to know you.

I have met several people from the DIS in real life, it would be kind of interesting to know if they see myself the way I described above.

I only do this when I really mean it.

I'm pretty much the same IRL; I'm outspoken and have a habit of offending people without realizing I have done so, usually because someone objects to my advice or point of view.

I'm the same in RL that I am here. I crack jokes a lot here and in RL.

No one that has met me would call me shy. I say (and write) what I think and, if I feel strongly enough about something, I will debate it...just ask my DH. I do hold back here sometimes when someone ticks me off, but it's only because I don't want to get banned. In RL, I'm less likely to hold back.

disykat, I guess I only drive you somewhat crazy with my smilies. I'm worse than some and not as bad as others. I actually do try to use them for a purpose. It is hard to convey our emotions on an internet dicsussion board and easy to misinterpret, so I do us them so someone knows when I am joking, really not serious, etc. Sometimes the hug smilie can mean so much to a person who is upset. Of course I use them at other times, too, but there are some truly useful times.

Robinrs, yeah, I heard about you.... no, really, I wouldn't think that you would be that way in real life. That one kind of surprised me.

EthansMom, I'll have to go back and read more of your posts--I don't think that you've offended me yet, but I have a very bad memory and I do forgive easily, too. So maybe you did and I forgot. Do you remember and could jog my memory?

momof2inPA, I'm still processing that? Where in PA do you live? I might have to stop in and see for myself if I'm in the area sometime.

Pretty much describes me. I'm somewhat reserved in meeting new people IRL but I never seem to have a problem in voicing my opinions (as some well know )

I guess I'm pretty much the same IRL as I am on the DIS. I have the same dark,somewhat twisted sense of humor and I have absolutely NO problem letting you know what I think. I am also just as painfully honest IRL, which sometimes can be a bad thing I think.

I don't think I go out of my way IRL to attract drama the way some have accused me of doing here on the DIS. I think drama just finds me.

It's funny, but I don't think I am, but then I'll have some people tease me about it so I'll know that I am. But only certain people tease me, and it's people who are also that way, so I think that I am in certain situations and with certain people. With my family I most certainly am even though with my youngest child I watch how crude the jokes are and I've never been a big fan of profanity.

I am pretty close to the same. Although, I think I might come across differently on the boards than I do in real life.

I'm honest and straight forward and a bit of a smart@55, but it might at times seems rude to some people on the boards. In real life, most people would laugh. It's all in the tone and inflection. I've always said you can say anything to anyone, but it's all in the delivery. Despite being opinated, I'm pretty tolerant of others and open to any new ideas. That just doesn't come across in black and white. Maybe I should change my color?

Must have missed that thread. I meant that I almost never dance around like a crazy banana. And I think I learned my lesson after searching for the definition of "snarky". I don't WANT to know what you think that banana is doing.
