Have you ever used a Personal Chef service while at WDW? How did it work out? Who did you hire?

My wife, sisters, nieces, etc., will be doing a ladies only trip staying in a Grand Villa at OKW for a week in October and I thought they would enjoy the pampering a professionally prepared home cooked meal would afford them. A simple Google search has provided me with several prospects but not having any references causes me to question whether I should arrange this for them. I would appreciate learning about your experience if you've ever enjoyed this service. Thanks in advance.

I had a personal chef here at home - she's since left for a job on the west coast. It is wonderful and I learned so much from her (I love to cook - time was the issue). She taught me a lot of timesavers and I do manage to squeeze out 2-3 meals on my own each week (most other nights, we have dinner out with friends/business associates). We prefer "real" food (ahi tuna, salmon, chilean sea bass, etc.) and try to cook using only fresh and natural ingredients (no hamburger helper in this house - although - I've had a craving for Manwich for a long time now).

I don't know how to help you locate one down in Orlando - however, I am sure references, training and style/cuisine would be the best way to make a choice.

Personally, I love the restaurants in WDW so much - Maybe you can go the Private Dining route - call WDW Dining and see if any of the restaurants in WDW offer a personal chef service (they do something similar on the yacht at the GF I believe).

Good luck - let us know how you make out!

I'm not sure if this what you're after, but when I booked a fireworks cruise they gave me this number for private dining 407-824-1043. They said we could order stuff for our fireworks cruise through them. They also said to leave a message if no one answers since it is a working kitchen and they can't always get to the phone.

Sounds like a great idea.

I've never heard of this. How does it work?

You select a Chef who you think will best suit your needs based on education, experience, specialty, etc., decide on a menu, they do the shopping then they come to your villa and prepare a meal specifically for you and your guests, they serve it then clean up before leaving. With proper planning they can easily prepare more than one meal on the night they're at the villa for your use the next day if you choose. Some will even teach you some tricks or methods they use to efficiently work in a kitchen.

The benefit is very personal specialized attention to your needs and the needs of your guests.

FinallyBoughtDVC and ACDSNY - It never occurred to me to check directly with Disney for this. Thanks for the idea.

shellbelle1971 - I'll take a look at the links you provided, thanks.

I LOVE this idea! I will have to keep it in mind for next year - we plan on having a big family reunion at the World. I would think that Disney might be able to help you with it. I suspect you aren't the first to ask about the option. It's a great idea especially for a vacation meal!
