Perplexing DME questions...

I have a friend who is flying into MCO in April from Canada with her husband and 3 girls. Her parents are flying from another Canadian city a couple of days prior to them, and leaving a day or two after them. This is where it's confusing.... one of their 3 girls will be staying in the grandparent's room and is listed as such with Disney. (They're staying in one of the value resorts where the limit is 4 in a room). Will her daughter have difficulty boarding DME if she's listed under the grandparent's reservation??? How about going back to MCO on departure day?? She called Disney reservations to ask, but they didn't know the answer to it... I just figured if I asked here, someone may have had a similar situation in the past.

Other question... I've taken DME many times myself, but I just wanted to make sure I didn't give her incorrect information in that she can bypass baggage claim as long as her yellow tags are affixed to her luggage. Is this the same policy for guests flying in from Cananda I hope?

Thanks so much in advance for your help! :goodvibes

This is fine - my sister often arrives after we do and or leaves early. Just as long as everyone is a registered guest of a WDW Resort on the day they want to use DME and has an advance reservation they will be fine.

The grandparents are going to have to give/mail the voucher and luggage tag to the parents for the daughter listed in their reservation.

For the return make sure they double check the info after arrival, you can do this at the concierge desk or via phone from the room. The confirmation for the "extra" daughter will be put under the door of the grandparents room the night before the daughters departure. Same thing when the grandparents actually depart.

IMHO it is best to call DME directly as the reservations CM's don't always know the ins and outs of DME.

I don't know about the luggage deliver and customers/Candian travel but I am sure someone will be along soon who does. There is also great information in the sticky on the top of the page and International travel and DME is probably mentioned.

Yellow Magical Express tags work the same way as for U.S. guests.

Guests in a given room may arrive at different times, on or after check in day. Make sure DME is reserved in advance for the days desired.

Most Canadians entering the U.S. clear customs in Canada but once in awhile clearing or reclearing customs is needed in the U.S., possibly in Orlando. In all cases the bags are given to an agent or put on another conveyor to continue the journey while you leave customs to get on the next plane (or DME bus).

In the case of reclearing customs in Orlando you also have the choice of hand carrying all the bags out of the customs station, onto the airport tram, and down to the Magical Express area.

Going home you must bring all your bags to the resort DME platform where the bus driver will put them under the bus. Your DME pickup time must be about 4 hours (or more) before your flight, anything much less is a goof by the reservationist. You will clear or preclear customs at the (MCO) airport.

To reduce confusion it is best to make any needed changes to DME going home after you get down there. Have everything finalized and reconfirmed for each person before noon on the day before s/he will be leaving via DME, if not days sooner. Guests in a room may leave at different times on or before checkout day.
