Perks to buy DVC from Disney

Just purchased on 4/25. We got a backpack, two DVC pens and a BCV print. Also got 4 meal vouchers for taking the tour.

signing our contracts...lol. I fooled them though, I stilled would have signed the contracts even if I didn"t get a pen.
Honestly though DVC does not have to give anything away to get people in to buy.....it's the Power of the Mouse !!

we took the tour last week and although we didn't sign (yet) we received nothing for our time or "interest" in DVC. A friend of ours signed and took the tour last year and received 4 free meal vouchers?? Maybe since BCV are almost sold out they are not feeling like they need to give people anything as an incentive to take the tours? We received a plastic bag with the DVC info in it, but no pen Do they only give "perks" if you sign on the spot? We also stopped in to the "open house" the next day at the Beach Club and toured the rooms again and my DD went to take one of the DVC pins that was on a table in a dish and was snapped at by a DVC CM who said they were for "members only"?? Seemed to me that the DVC sales people (at least the ones we spoke with) had an attitude

The four meal vouchers were for taking the tour.
We received the pens , backpack and BCV print 3 days later when we signed on the bottom line.
We were there over Easter and DVC was very busy the three times we were there. Didn't encounter an attitude from anyone.

Okay, I admit, we hassled our guide, begging for free stuff -- asked him why should we buy from him then and there (we were on the Magic cruise), when we could just wait and do it with another guide in WDW during our next visit -- here is what he gave us -- the DVC zippered tote, a vero beach plastic cold drink glass and mouse pad (kind of strange to have Vero stuff, since we didn't buy there -- guess we will have to visit there sometime so that those items become souvenirs!), 4 DVC baseball caps (we insisted on these for us and our kids), and 4 luggage tags. Then, we received in the mail the BCV matted watercolor and the member backpack. When we did our add-on, we received another BCV matted watercolor (which was nice, because now we have one in our family room and I have one in my office). We were pretty pushy, but our guide was an absolute darling. The reality is that he hardly had to do any work at all whatsoever -- we went to him with a pretty clear understanding of DVC and knew exactly what we wanted to buy.
