Perhaps it's a generational difference?

There are a lot of men around now who spend a lot of time on their looks. I wouldn't care for that particular trait. I like men who are "wash and wear"...shave, shower, slap on some deodorant, get dressed and go. All this waxing and tanning and "metrosexual-ness" seems icky to me.

My husband is a "manscaper".

Back hair is waxed. Private area is neatly trimmed.

He still has leg and arm hair though!

I noticed my neighbors eyebrows looked strange the other day. His wife told me the other day that he shaves his eyebrows! That sounds mighty dangerous.

I've got a fair amount of chest hair, not ape like, just normal I guess. I shaved my chest once and it did not play well with the wife at all. She hated it! Anyway, about you husband getting waxed. The only waxing places that I'm familiar with are the ones that my wife goes to for her eyebrows, and I've never seen a guy having anything done there. Where the heck do guys go to get waxed?

I've seen guys going in to get waxed at some of the upty salons and spas around here, I don't see anything wrong with it. My DH shaves his unibrow, I don't think he could handle waxing:rolleyes1

A man can get waxed by any esthetician. If a woman can get waxed there, chances are a man can too.

I hate hairy guys - but I know different strokes for different folks. However, I also don't find a true "metrosexual" my type either. I am somewhere in the middle!

Eeeewww. I am a 20-something girl, and I LOVE men with hairy chests and other things. It seems so masculine to me. NOT a fan of the hairless look, although I know many girls my age who are!

OK, quick update...I just ordered a Mangroomer from Amazon. :scared1:

I'm definatly not a hairless type of guy but I woudln't mind trimming up my back hair before swimming at the pool. I'll have to see how it works.

Bill. you'll have to keep us posted on your new metrosexual transformation. ;)

Seriously, tho, be careful with that thing! If you cut your back....how do you put a bandaid on? (Watch ChrizJen will find a gadget for that!:rotfl: )

I wax my DH's unibrow... my DD goaded him into it the first time! :lmao:

We expect a full report with before and after photos! Good luck!

When I was in college, all of the swim team guys shaved everything - at least everything not covered by a bathing suit. The rest, for me, is blissful ignorance :) But the showers were so nasty the night before a meet. One of my friends was a swimmer, and was always asking if I could shave his back :scared1: Friendship doesn't cover that one, trust me....

Welllll, I just surveyed my 20 something cohorts and the unanimous consensus was:

this was a fad amongst the younger gay male community which has spread into the under-30 crowd in general.

I don't know any men who shave. At least I don't think I do -I will have to start paying attention. Doesn't it look funny growing back in?

My guess is that he wouldn't let it grow back in. Instead, he'd keep himself well groomed.

My DH (Mr. Smith) is a little metro and we are twenty-somethings. I don't see anything wrong with it. If women spend all this time grooming, why can't men? I think whatever makes a person feel attractive and confident is great.

That gadget is hilarious!

I'm not sure how I feel about the whole manscaping thing, to each his own (is that how that goes?). I understand it from a sports standpoint. I knew male swimmers who shaved to get better times.

One thing I do know is that I like big, scruffy lumberjack lookin' men!

I'm getting a little flushed thinking about it.

Does it stop at the belt or do they shave their legs too? I can't imagine how much time that takes.

Some do some dn't. I think it depends on how much hair they've got and if they feel comfortable with it.

It's a lot less "icky" to me then all that hair! :rotfl: I truly can. not. stand. all that body hair. A little on the chest and legs is fine. But back hair? no way no how. Incidently, if your looking for someone that can do it. In most states, a massage therapists license will cover it.

Actually I think it started in the sports crowds first. Bikers, swimmers and weight lifters, have been doing it for a lot longer then the gay men I know.

Well, I'll have to suggest this to my part bear husband. :rotfl:

LOL DH gets mad when I shave his unibrow, I could only imagine what he would do if i told him I wanted him to shave his body :scared1: Not to mention how many razors he would go through :rolleyes1

No my DB is 22 and lifts weights and he waxes his back and arms. I dont think he does his legs

It's a generational difference, I'm sure, because many of the football players on my old high school's team did it, and many of my male friends do it. *shrugs*

I can't imagine all the stubble from all-over shaving. Ugh. Imagine trying to snuggle with an all-over-stubbly man!
