What about the folks on there who are just out minding their own business, with no flab or anything weird going on with them, but the person taking the picture thought they were funny? A few that come to mind include a man wearing a country/western looking shirt, a man with denim shorts rolled to about 2 inches above his knees, a woman in a Steelers tee shirt with pink shorts, and an elderly woman in a sparkly tank top.

Heaven forbid they don't meet a fellow Walmart shopper's standard of fashion.

Those were the ones that bothered me. Some of the others were clearly wanting to be looked at, IMO, but that didn't excuse making fun of the others.

I think the person in the Steelers shirt and pink short shorts was a GUY and that is why that was posted. Looks kind of like his legs were shaved as well.

Then where is the outrage from the glbt? That seems like one more reason NOT to make fun of that person.

Well some of them (like the person dressed as a tiger) were funny and they probably meant to be. But the Bingo card definitely had some questionable squares.

How do you know he's gay? It seems like assuming someone is gay for wearing pink shorts and having shaved legs would be more offensive than making fun of someone simply for the shorts, and not their sexual orientation.

Did I say he was gay? I assumed that poster was saying he was cross-dressing and that's why it was okay to laugh. My point was that there are people who dress opposite gender and many people support their right to do so. GLBT is involved in those causes.

I am disappointed that so many of those were taken in Missouri. :sad1:

I understand that, I have several friends in the GLBT community. But maybe this guy was just weird and had pink shorts on? If that's the case, GLBT people would have nothing to do with it and no reason to be 'outraged'. The funniness in the picture is due to the guy wearing a Steelers jersey (very masculine) and pink shorts (very feminine) at the same time. That's it - no underlying message and no reason to analyze it.

It's in their handbook. Not sure if it's strictly enforced at the store you shop at. But, maybe they weren't actually standing around doing "nothing" to begin with, as you thought, but were in fact working hard, deciding baby sitting you and your friends was not the priority at the time. Not everyone who works at Wal-mart is a good for nothing bum as some people think. I'm not a fan of Wal-mart, but the generalizations that are drawn are ridiculous sometimes.

Sure. They were working SO HARD tonight when out of 24 lanes, only two were open for checking out and the lines for both were backed up clear past the jewelry department at my local Wal Mart, without a single manager in sight. Oh yeah, and there wasn't a single shopping cart in the store either- they were all outside. Yep, they were working so hard.

Face it, most of the people in those pictures dressed like that on purpose. A good number of those pictures are funny. I guess, like a few others on this thread, I'm a horrible person for getting a chuckle out of several photos.

But I have also seen threads here for people making fun of Disney World/Disneyland visitors and what they wear. So the Wal Mart thing isn't any different. Someone will likely do a site similar for crazy dressers at Disney. And I'll find that one amusing too.

Now that I don't believe. I can't count the number of pictures my friends and I have of us inside a Wal-Mart store acting like silly. No one certainly ever said anything to us and there are plenty of employees standing around doing absolutely nothing to begin with.

Who goes to Walmart for entertainment?:confused3

There is only ONE Walmart in all of Chicago, and I have never been there. I have been into stores in other states and I admit it is like traveling to a foreign land.

The things I have seen - some are just jaw-dropping!!

Okay.:rolleyes1 I'll take your word that you are not analyzing it. I'll also take your word that people were also coming up with the same reasons(I'm trying not to use the word analyze since that's not what you did)for laughing.

I don't see the "humour" on this page or why its ok to laugh at people who don't meet with your "approval" on how they should look why should they, when did they introduce a uniform in the USA and please tell what we are allowed to wear. It just goes to show that we haven't grown past the stage of the past when going to the Coliseum to watch people fighting to the death or going to a public hanging was popular a bit of a pity that is. So these some of these people have dressed to us as a bit "strangely" they may think the same of you but that doesn't give you the right to look down your noses at them which is what is being done.

How many employees were just standing around? If the only employees "in sight," were checking, then it sounds like they were working pretty hard.

What ever happened to privacy in this world? I don't care how you are dressed, it doesn't give somebody the right to snap a picture of you without your permission and post it for all the world to see.

I hate the whole concept. If I'm going to Wal-Mart at 10:00pm in my pajamas because I feel like **** and all I want to get is some cold medicine and Puffs, I would like to be able to do it without ending up on the website. How would you like it if that were you up there being ridiculed? Or a friend, or loved one? Do you know these people and their situations?

Yeah, it would be great if people would dress nicely for everything, and certainly would be nice if people covered themselves up, but that still doesn't give anybody the right to put your picture all over the net. That's what I hate about the net, it seems like privacy and good old fashioned common courtesy don't exist anymore.

I remember that! He picked a bad Walmart to try that in. I've been to that Walmart many times. It seems to have the rudest customers of all the Walmart's I've been to. Not sure if it's because it is in a "nicer" part of Des Moines. Of course, I wouldn't post pictures of the customers and put them up on a site called the "witches of Walmart". Instead, I'd just roll my eyes at my husband and let it be. No need to publicly ridicule them.

I am most definitely NOT a debater, and don't intend my comments to cause any. Hopefully no one takes offense to what I have to say. It's my own, personal opinion on the matter.

I saw a few of these pictures when they were sent to me via a mass e-mail. Personally, I just don't see the humor or logistics of taking people's pictures when they are out minding their own business. I would be mortified if random people took my picture without my knowledge or consent and then found those pictures plastered on the internet. Believe me, being a mom with 3 boys I have found myself on occasion running outside with mismatched shoes, an occasional inside-out shirt, or baby spit-up down my back. Not the prettiest sight to see, but most of us have been there. Now, I know sometimes people dress a certain way to purposefully raise an eyebrow or two, but there were plenty of photos I saw which showed normal, everyday people caught in an unfortunate wardrobe moment.

We're all placed in this world together, and happiness can abound when we show respect for one another. If we showed a little more respect, a little more compassion, and a little more love to each other, we would all be in a better place. A little can go a long way in this instance. I feel bad for some of the people who would most certainly not like to be portrayed on the internet the way they have been.

On a side-note....and again, just my opinion, but I for one am extremely grateful to all the customers and hard workers of our local Walmart's. This company, as well as the people who shop here, have made it possible for my husband to bring home a steady paycheck. They make sure my kids are fed every night. They have given us a means to provide shelter overhead, medical and dental insurance for my family, and above all else have given me the luxury of being able to stay home and raise my children. That is the biggest blessing I could ask for, so Thank You Walmart and to all of you who help my family survive during challenging times by supporting the store as well as all the other local businesses, including all the great Mom and Pop Shops owned by family and friends....We have quite a few where I live that I frequent often in addition to other big box retailers. My overall point is that one of the ways we can support our community is to support and show respect for those who live within it, not by making fun of them for the way they look or the clothes they wear. For the posts after mine, I truly didn't mean for this to become a WM vs. No WM debate. They've been good to me and my family, but I whole-heartily agree that we need to support many businesses and local places within our community.

You may feel that way, and I understand that plenty of people work for Wal-Mart, but don't forget the other side either. When Wal-Mart opened in the neighborhood of one of our family friends, he really started struggling, as did others in the neighborhood. He had a small electronics store, that did rather well. Once Wal-Mart opened, his business started dying off, because he couldn't compete with a big store like that. He couldn't keep up with the variety of a big store. And people could go to Wal-Mart, buy their new computer, and at the same time, pick up some fertilizer for their garden. He would run promotions constantly trying to draw people in, but it didn't work. Other store owners in the area felt the same thing, and now, most of them have closed and have needed to find some other source of income. So while I'm glad that Wal-Mart has been great to your family, keep in mind it's not that great to others when they show up.

Yeah, thank-you Mal-Wart for ridding the blight of countless Mom & Pop stores around the nation. And 'specially for ensuring no 'tainted' chinese products hit your shelves! Lead good!!

Off to super-one now for race day... gotta drag a futon all the way from aisle 2. (Fitty-cent corny dogs ALL day... WOO-HOO!)
