People waiting in line say the darndest things!

Great idea for a thread! I've got two, not quite while waiting in line but still at DW.

The first one was a few years ago on the monorail. There was the cutest little British girl (probably about 4 or 5) sitting with her mother. She got very excited when the monorail passed by an area of thick trees and jumped up shouting "Look mummy! The wood! It's where Robin Hood lives!" Her mother replied very matter-of-factly, "No darling, he lives in the wood in Britain" or something to that affect.

The second was my sister. We were watching Illuminations and she had never seen it before. During the part where there's a lot of fire she started to look very concerned and said "Oh my gosh! What's going on!? There's a fire!" :rotfl: I was hoping for an even funnier response the next day when we went on the Backlot tour at DHS Studios, but sadly she got that the fire was part of the ride.

Last year I was carrying my then 21 month old daughter off HM. She was crying and yelling "NO!" A man said:
OMGosh, THat was SOOOOO FUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNY

ROFLM butt O

I would have give a mint to see the look on his face.
Prefect Prefect

My family was at the San Diego Wild Animal Park, the goal, listen for these sorta of things.... and we heard Nothing : ( not a peep....

We shall see in 3 weeks what WDW holds..

That reminds of my mom and my sister: they are both afraid of the drop in Splash Mountain so they were just waiting for us in front of Splash Mountain in the area where you see the Splash boats going around slowly right after the drop. My mom says to my sister: Whats that little boat ride? It seems like a nice little quiet boat ride! We should try it next time instead of waiting around! :lmao: Not realizing that the little quiet boat ride IS actually Splash Mountain!!!! :rolleyes1 :upsidedow

This must have been my Dad's thinking too! When I was 6 years old and on my first Disney trip, he took me on Splash Mountain cause he thought it was "a cute little boat ride with bunnies". I was there this August- I have no idea how we stood in a long line and he missed all those signs about it being a log flume! I just distinctly remember thinking "Daddy....what is that loud sound?". Well that loud sound was the WATERFALL DROP. He's lucky I happened to like it or I would have been scarred for life!! :lmao:

In 2006 our daughter, then 3 years old, had her first trip to WDW. When deciding whether to visit or not HM, we explained to her that it was about a "ghosts’ house”. She loved the ride, doing it three times on a row. Afterwards, she made sure to explain everyone that she had visited “Casper’s house”!

Regards,
Luis

The best I've ever caught was last week at TL: Pluto was arriving for some photos and autographs. Suddenly a woman started screaming to her kids (very loud): "LOOK, THERE'S GOOFY!!" Immediately her kids ran to Pluto, hugged him while saying :" Ohhh..Goofy, Goofy!"
My boyfriend and I laughed the whole day.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

:lmao:

I feel that way at the Yacht and Beach Club!:lmao:
Me too! We go to Martha's Vineyard every year, and we eat at a hotel that reminds me of the Yacht Club-as in it reminds me I can't afford to stay there

My dad's been gone 6 years, but I still get the giggles in the Splash Mountain queue. Our first ride on it, he asked the CM where to sit so we wouldn't get wet. "The exit's over there," said the CM. :lmao::lmao:

Also, I apologize to any people behind us in the line for a thrill ride. I'm sure Dad annoucing he had every condition they advise you to use caution about was really relaxing (he did! Then again, he went on The Mummy repeatedly with a then-undiagnosed brain tumor less than 2 months before he passed away. That's how I'd like to go out). :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Not in line, but today I was at Guest Relations in MK and while DH and I were waiting for the CM to check something for us, two brothers, 5 and 7ish, were playing around when the younger boy started screaming. His dad rushed over and thinking his father was going to discipline him, the boy blurted out....

"No Dad, it wasn't me, he pinched my p***s!!!"

DH lost it!!! :rotfl2:

He's still laughing about it as I am writing this!!

When we went a few years ago, we were trying to get up the moving belts to get to the TTA but there was this little tyke (4-5) who refused to go up- just wouldn't budge. His parents evidently didn't notice that he wasn't with them until they were at the top and they couldn't figure out how to get down, and working with kids I couldn't just leave him there, and I couldn't find a cast member. We couldn't figure out why he was scared, but we told him we'd row up- and gave him an imaginary paddle, and started singing Row, Row, Row Your Boat before trying to go up the belts. We got him up and on, and then a group of teens behind us joined in, then whomever behind them joined in... It was still going when we got off... Now every time we get on the TTA-People Mover, we row up and down and sing.

The last time my hubby and I went we stayed at the WL, and he was grabbing food while I headed up to the room, and I ended up in the elevator with some first time visitors. The guy was very serious about things as he told his wife all the secret things he learned from a Friend about what shouldn't do at the "sit-down" place (Whispering Canyon)- never ask for ketchup, don't ask for refills, don't ask for salt, don't drop yer silverware, don't ask for sodie-pop.... :cutie:

Just thought of another one - upon entering Epcot one day last April, our DD8 immediately asked to go on Spaceship Earth. It has been one of her favourites since her first visit at 13 m.o. and it was our first visit to WDW since the ride had been refurbed.

The line wasn't too long, but this guy one row behind (but standing adjacent to us) was getting extremely irritated with his family who wouldn't join him. He was motioning to his older teenage son but when that didn't work, he started yelling "Get in here! Get over here right now!" His son asked what type of ride it was - according to this dad, it was "An awesome rollercoaster -the best one at WDW!" :upsidedow

My DD looked at me with a puzzled expression then whispered "Mum, did they change it that much?"

That's too funny!! Reminds me of how things were with my mom. My dad had been convinced that Soarin' wouldn't scare her and he LOVED it and wanted her to ride it, but she is deathly afraid of heights so she absolutely hated it.

Then we go over to Spaceship Earth and try to get her to go on and she thinks it's a "trick" to get her to go on a super scary rollercoaster and refused to believe us until a CM told her the fastest it went was 5mph! haha

Then, we were at MK one day and the parade was about to start and every single ride we tried to go on (Jungle Cruise, Carpets, Splash) were closed and my dad says "What? Do they shut all the rides down so that people watch the parade?" :rotfl:

And then about halfway through the parade, Splash starts working again. However, logs are still going down the big drop empty but you can see people in the logs going into the inside (do you guys know what I'm talking about) and this 17/18 year old boy starts shrieking "I'm never going on that! no one is coming out alive!!" :rotfl2:

LOL! This is too funny!

Okay, we've never been to Whispering Canyon but are going on our trip in June...what is this all about??? HELP! :confused3

Check at the bottom of the page here for some idea. Basically, doing those things will usually result in some interesting reactions from your server - like for instance, asking for ketchup might get you multiple bottles.

A thread about tacos on the dining board reminded me of this one...

At the CS restaurant in Mexico there was a British family near us. The father ordered quesadillas for the two sons. One son asked what it was and the father replied, "It's like a pancake, but with cheese".

Older DD looked at us like this :scared: and said, "That's not a very appetizing description of a quesadilla". The two boys looked quite skeptical when they got to their table and started examining the food. :upsidedow

We were at MK on 3/31. I was waiting for DH and our 2 older kids to get off Space, When a kid and his dad walked by me, and the kids says, "Is this the way to the Rockin' Rollercoaster?" the dad says, "Yep!!! It is right over there, see it?" (pointing to Space!!!!!) I almost died!!:rotfl:

A few minutes later, another boy and his dad walk by in the same direction, and this kids says, "this is that really slow ride, right, dad?" "Of course son, you have nothing to worry about!" I am not sure if the last one was just a dad who knew his kid would like it once he was on it, or if he was just that clueless!!!

Good times!

I was at Blizzard Beach in the mid-90s just after it opened. I had no intention of riding Summit Plummet - I just went up there to have a look - and ended up riding. There was a couple in front of us, and the woman went first. Just at the VERY second she pushed off, her husband leaned over and said "You won't like it, dear!"

We didn't see them at the bottom, but I bet she killed him twice!

Boy, that was a cold day. 50ish degrees. Brrr!

I have to admit, I get a little irked when I overhear people talking about looking for characters - like Shrek! - when they are in a WDW park!

And more than once I've been at AK, MGM, or EPCOT and heard a parent say something like "No, we're going to Disney World tomorrow...." :rolleyes1:rotfl2:

On the boat from Fort Wilderness to MK: A know it all type dad pointed to the now abandoned Discovery Island and said "Look, that used to be Animal Kingdom." :lmao:

While on ToT, I was seated by center aisle, when a mom on the other side of the aisle reached across the aisle gripping her fingers into my arm. She asked repeatedly in a nervous, panicked sort of way ..."Is it over, is it over, is it almost over? ....My little boy don't like it?" :lmao:
