People taking pictures on Spaceship Earth despite being told to stop

plus, if I even see anyone with a camera out when loading a ride, where you sit with people in other parties, I'm going to ask wait for the next vehicle, this doesn't work for HM and Space though...but I'm so sick of that kind of behavior, I'd rather not take any chances when I can...

Some people actually know how to disable their flashes... maybe a cm could be posted at the front asking people if they know how to do it and helping them... I know its a large expense for Disney bu it would certainly increase their guests enjoyment of the ride....

I love this :rotfl2::rotfl:

I did too...

My problem was this

Here I was minding my own business and just taking pictures of my favorite attractions to show my bowling team back home, tried to make sure that my batteries were charged to get the best flash and get a nice even exposure and every time I took a picture people were yelling out and I couldn't hear the narration of the attraction.

Can't people think of others in a crowded place like this? WOW other people are on vacation too you know ;)

Ok really yelling might make you feel better but have you wondered how it affects the others on the ride NOTtaking pictures? are you reacting to rudeness of one kind with more of your own?

FLAME ON

:)

I agree. I hate it when people disregard the rules. All of the flashes on a dark ride take away a bit from the experience, while I still do love it. I have taken pictures on rides before, but without a flash, and they never turn out that great!

I recently rode POTC and during the ride the couple in front of me turned around to take a picture with a flash and just about blinded me for the rest of the ride..... thank you!

It's very simple.......no flash on a dark ride! Unless a CM says specifically no photography at all, take all the pictures you want, but no flash on a dark ride.

Put your finger over the flash window on your camera to deaden the flash.

Suggested solution to this problem: There should be a cloth mesh like chicken wire hung in front of all of the scenery. It will appear black and not that obtrusive to guests riding. If a flash picture is taken the mesh will show up as white in the picture. As a refinement there could be overhead strobe lights that just illuminate the mesh after a flash picture is taken and timed (about 1/60'th of a second later) so on most cameras a second image of the preferably diagonal mesh is imprinted in a slightly different position on the picture.

All kidding aside this is just another example of people thinking they are more important then everybody else, you see it all the time while driving or shopping etc and as I have stated before in other threads, they pixie dust does not affect these people, it is repelled by there anti-pixie dust bubble that surrounds them.

I think that since WDW does have camera's on all the attractions and can see who is doing it they should just pull them off at the end, make an announcment that since these kind folks have ruined the experience for all their co-riders that everybody in line will have to wait another whole cycle to get on and then turn the guilty people over to crowds of angry mouse junkies to be pelted with half chewed turkey legs and Mickey rice crispy treats! :rotfl:

Now that the pet peeves thread is closed and since this pertains directly to mine, my peeve is people who's actions interfere with other people's enjoyment, not to mention comfort with an eye ful of a flash from a camera.

As long as it doesn't bright up the area I don't see why it's such a big deal. Let people make memories how they want to, and you should worry about you.

But it does brighten up the area, that's the whole point.

People can make all the memories they want, but it shouldn't interfere with the experience of others.

It's just an example of some people only caring about their own experience with no regard for others. It's rude and selfish.

You know, as much as I find it annoying that people take flash pictures where they are not supposed to; I find it equally annoying people yelling at them to stop. Yes, you have someone doing something that infringes on your enjoyment of the ride, but the other person is yelling just to make themselves feel better. Aren't both actions equally bad? What ever happened to having some tolerance in this world? It seems like our country and people have become so polarized and "me first" in their words and actions that civility seems to have just gone out the door.

I hate when they do this while I'm on the ride. It seems like cameras follow me everywhere. For me, it's especially bad on the POTC ride. I'd die of shock if i got on one boat ride and didn't notice anyone in a boat in front of me, behind me or on the same boat that didn't snap a picture with a flash. :headache::mad:

I will admit that I have done this once... on peter pan... I had broken my camera the day before so we only had a disposable one, can you turn off the flash on disposable cameras? I couldn't get it to work. I pushed the button that you turn the flash on with so I thought it was off but the flash still kept going.

We have had the rides on HM, SE, and POTC ruined by twits using videos and flashes. On SE the twit was even taking photos of the star scene at the top of the ride. :confused3 No way was that going to work but every few seconds, flash, flash, flash.

On POTC the CM's kept telling the idiot to stop taking photos but he would not stop. It might have been just luck but the boat stopped at one point while the CM repeated no photography.

Disney really needs to stop this. The CM's know this is happening. The person should be warned and if they continue, security should meet them at the ride exit for a chat.

The idea that you just ride again is absurd. Even if you have time to wait to return to the line you are just as likely to get flashed again. We are lucky in that we have been to WDW enough times to enjoy the rides without video and flash blinding us but other people might only get to WDW once.

Cheap, flash cameras have been around for decades. In all of my visits to WDW/MK as a kid, this was never a problem, but now it happens frequently.

Later,
Dan

It does get annoying, but I try not to let it ruin my expierence. I just try to think that the people taking pictures are just really excited to be at Disney and they want to be able to remember everything. I think recording the dark rides on phones or with a camera is more annoying personally. Especially if they are directly in front of me, the bright light of their camera keeps me from seeing alot or the attraction.

If someone takes a flash picture and someone yells, causing them to stop, that is better than nobody saying anything and them continuing to flash away for the entire ride.

The only time I have yelled at someone is when they flashed in my face. The CMs on PoC need to do a better job of making sure people do not flash. It really does ruin the ride and you can almost never get a ride on it where someone is not flashing.

It seems to me that unless people start letting other people know they are ruining the experience for everyone and being rude, they will think nothing of their behavior and continue it. There is a nice way to say, "please stop taking flash pictures" without having to be rude. But these annoying people with their flashes need to knock it off, period.
