OMG, I needed to sign off today because I was really loosing it. Anyone else get frustrated during a level 3 game with people that get stuck, circle around, or just don't know what the :rolleyes1 they are doing?!

I don't expect people to be experts but come on, by level 3 you should have a basic understanding that in CTF the goal is to get the flag not circle around and crash into rocks. Today I had bad luck, player after player on my team that would tell me to go, then they are going and leaqve our flag exposed to capture. Or they say me stay and they go, but get stuck or go afk in the game.

I think the problem is people that don't know how to play are joining people who do, thus they get the win and make it to level 2 and 3 despite the fact they don't know how to play. I wish the ranking system were based on individual stats to move up to make sure people understand the game. Or had a test level for people to pass after each 10 games on a level. It's just really annoying, I dont mind it in level 1 but level 3 should be more experienced players.

When I hit level 3 I expect to play with people that have a basic understanding of the game, the rules and how to control the ship. Questions like "how do I shoot?" and "where is the flag?" are just out of place in a level 3 game. By then you should know how or should stick to level 1 until you do.

Anyway that's my rant of the month.

I'm sorry, Stephen, for your frustration. Pirates has made me walk away from my laptop MANY times.

I do have to admit though that even though I'm a level 3 and have almost 800 wins, I STILL get stuck on those rocks frequently. Chalk it up to bad driving skills, LOL!

I think I am pushing 6,000 wins or over that now. ;)

And I like Pink still get stuck. Also I do not think there is many a day I am not on the high score board when I play with friends who know how to play.

I agree Stephen, that a lot of players just do not GET how to play Capture at any level.

First, the objective is to guard the flag and get your opponents flag and get it back to base....I personally hate playing a team that use all battle ships because I know from the start it will be a low scoring game of battle not capture.

As I always say... I have won and lost games on every level.

With that said... I think there are players that move up in levels just by shear luck of getting good partners...

and you can move up levels by playing battle instead of capture. I hate capture and only play it when I must, but I am a level 3 with tons of wins.

Maybe changing the system such that you have to win 7 times each level, each Game so that you must know what you're doing, with an annoying little tutorial that pops up for any level one player entering the dock area EACH time they enter the dock area while a level one player. Yes it would be annoying especially for experienced players on a new character, but at least the younger players who don't know they are supposed to read directions/rules before joining a game would be forced to see it multiple times. Or at least have the tutorial for level one players losing a game when they return to the dock. Like, tips for winning next time at... Of course: KISS ;)

Maybe some practice in patience with other players is what you need. I can play level 3 pirates but I'm terrible at the game. Does this mean I shouldn't be able to play and learn the ins and outs along side a more skillful player? I get stuck frequently, can't determine where my cannon fire will end up and freeze a lot, if there are more than four ships on the screen. Does this mean I shouldn't be able to try for level 3 keys? I don't like to play CTF at all, because most of the players are far from helpful and most often quite nasty. I will only play with friends, but only when I need to for a quest. Try cutting players -like myself- who don't play often and only want a chance at a decent prize from an empty treasure chest a little slack. :thumbsup2

I play with friends because I'm trying to learn the nuances of the game. Things like don't sink the last player on the other team before you've gotten the flag, or don't sink the little boat. Ask Maleficent2 about how much she's been cursing me while at her keyboard.

I still have trouble with basic movement, such as moving when I meant to shoot and vice versa (yes, I know it's one click for move and two clicks for shoot, but I swear the bloody boat moves on two clicks!). I still get stuck.

I don't play battle except for quests. Period. My skills at shooting are not good enough. I know that and accept that. I don't play it so I don't aggravate the other players. Maybe after I get better with more consistent play I'll work at that, but for now, you don't find me in a battle game unless it's by accident!

Having said all of that, lighten up. It's a game. A multi-player online game. You can move through the first 20 wins fairly easily with some luck and minor skill. Mastering the details, that takes some time and patience of your fellow players. Be kind to those who aren't any good. Take them under your wing and help them out. Somebody had to help you out with something to do with this game, show these people the same kindness that was shown to you. What about all the quest answers that are shared? Couldn't someone just as easily say, "hey watch the movies then you'll know the answers"? It's the same thing. We all need help now and then. If you don't want to help other players, use the DIS to find people who are as skilled as you are and only play with them. There are always people up for making teams.

Good point and well said.

i totally understand you getting angry over people asking such questions in level 3 as where is flag and how do i shoot. but people getting stuck there are reasons for that it happens to me quite often when the lag is bad and when the mouse is just not cooperting i hate when it happens and people act like i want to be stuck, and yes some people make a mule get stuck so their real character can win but some people really just suffer from lag and mouse mess ups so dont go too hard on us!! hope you have better luck in pirates i know it is upsetting when you dont win especially if you end up with less credits than it cost to play. lag also messes up shooting when you want to shoot now and you end up shooting later when no one is by you anymore.

This is so wonderfully put!! I'm the same way as you...can play level 3, but I'm terrible at the game. That shouldn't mean I should never be allowed to play level 3. Hey, I'd like a chance for a decent prize as well! :) I am forever grateful to the players who have so much patience with me and don't rant about me. I am slowly, ok very slowly, learning the ins and outs of playing the game better (now if only my mouse and the lag would cooperate). This simply wouldn't happen if people were impatient with me.

I have been visited by a terrible, no good, lag when I play Pirates. Everything stops in mid action and, when I come out of it, my ship is circling around aimlessly! It is very frustrating for me. I am waiting for someone to take advantage and kill me while I am in 'the coma' but it hasn't happened yet. UGH!

I'm only a mediocre skill Pirates player but I'm in level 3 too. I win about half the games I play. Honestly, it's not the end of the world if your teammate is horrible at the game.

Once when I was playing Capture the Flag, being guard, I had a teammate who was really good at the game but yelled at me for blocking the way. Even though we won the round. The second time I made sure not to block the base and moved out of her way but she got mad at me anyway. Even though we won again. People that easily get mad over the Pirates game are much more annoying than the people who are not good at the game.

ROFL Stephen if you want to have some real fun in pirates come play with the gnome. I have over 300 wins at level three and have hit the islands in about 299 of them. Lighten up its a game and if they get stuck on the island blast them to bits

If Grumpy is driving there is no surviving

I never use my mouse for shooting. I always use my arrow keys for this.

But Stephen, I do understand your frustration. This is one of the reasons why I don't play POTC much.
Just last week, I was in a game of CTF and was guarding my team's flag. I told my team mate with the fast ship to go get the flag. All he did was circle around and shoot. I kept repeating, go get flag. He never did in either round. Needless to say, with my slow ship, we lost that game and I was frustrated as heck. He did not want to hear what I was saying to my screen.

But, there are times when you get good players too. :) I play every now and then to keep up on the game. But, I try to keep in mind that it's only a game and not everyone can play it well (if at all). :)

OMG,

Oh please do not make it even more difficult for young players to get the gold keys. It is hard enough for me and I'm no kid.

It is just a game.

Invite your friends to play that you know play well. Choose your team and you will be a Happy Pirate :cool1:

Some of you over analyze rants too much and try to justify or explain on behalf of people that might have the problem. The point was missed by several of you. Crashying into rocks is normal. I do it too! The rant is about people who do not know how to play the game at all but are on level 3. Of course we will all win and loose, crash and get sunk, etc. But when you're on level 3 and still don't know where the flag is or where to bring it, that's my rant and that is a problem.

As far as helping people and holding their hands, that's what level 1 is for. By level 3 at least have a basic understanding of what to do, or stick to the earlier levels until you do. Just my opinion.

Exactly and well said :goodvibes I realize it's just a game but a game can still get annoying at times lol. I wouldn't mind if people said I'm not that good, can you help. I would explain asap what to do or keep it simple "just stay with the flag, dont let anyone get it" But some people dont want to listen either. :thumbsup2

SAME WITH ME. UGH this one player got the FLAG on our team, and i was stuck in a rock because i couldn't get away from the ship, and the other team player ( enemy ) was stuck too. So when our team player got the flag, Before they got to the base, they started showing off circling around.. Then i got a message i was going to be boot if i dont move.. And she kept doing that  Those credits were wasted... Thats what you get for showing off.,

This is the reason why I don't play...except for a quest or doubles credits! But I must say that if it wasn't for the nice players who have let me play with them and not complain about how bad I am.. I wouldn't even try! I can play on all leavels due to my DH who is the one who usually plays for us both when we need to. I can't tell you how nice alot of these player have been to me not only on games...but in just helping me when I need it! I try and help back when I can..but not in games as I just can't get it.. I to understand that one click to move the ship and two shoot it..but like others..it will move on two clicks.. or trying to stay out of the way from my team mates..or getting blowed right off the bat. Bit there are a list of some really really nice people (alot ofthem on this post right here) who are always willing to help us out!! And to that please let me say Thank You all so much for helping us who need help!

So like we say..remember..chill ..its just a game!! But mainly a game where we like to have fun!
