People are making me afraid by negative comments

We have been there the last two years those same weeks and if you bring a poncho with you EVERY DAY, it may rain some in the afternoon, you'll be fine. We used the unofficial guide's recommendations for best park, and worst for each day and we had little to no waits on almost all rides when you also use the fast pass system. That's the only real planning we do. We just check which parks are designated as slower and go there and switch in the evening after a cool dip in the pool. We will be there again the 9th of June to the 21st staying at Fort Wilderness. Love it there!

In the last three years we have done two june trips and three august trips.

The key is to get to the parks at opening.
Commando the parks until lunch time (that's when the crowds build)
Hit the hotel pool until dinner time (eat dinner at the hotel)
Go to back to the parks at night.

I have to agree that everyone is jealous!!

I'm going in 1 week and everyday someone gives me a weather report saying how cold or rainy it is in Florida right now. I have to keep telling myself that they are just jealous and if it's cold and rainy then that is a great excuse to buy a Disney sweatshirt!!

June is fine. I've been twice in June and it's hot but n9ot unbearable. I've gone in August and Sept when it is really hot and I still had a fabulous time.

Have fun!!

I think everyone has a different opinion of a Disney vacation and a different appoach. I was talking to a friend just this weekend who said "I can not believe you go to Disney so often we really didn't like it. All the people pushing and waiting in line for the characters for so long." To which I replied we simply eat with the characters and that solves all the problems.

Like others said Disney is all about how you plan your vacation. I am sure you and your family are going to have a blast.

Just do your planning and you will have a blast! I think so many people forget it is still DISNEY and it is still MAGICAL especially since you already know you will not be able to walk onto attractions. I agree with Maggied about using TGM. We go to Disney at least once every year and sometimes twice and I still find the $20 for his advice worth every penny. You can click on his link at the top of page and get a discount. Avoid EMH and go to the second showing of the parades and Fantasmic and you will be fine. Be at the park for rope drop, use fast pass to your advantage, go commando until around 1pm and then go back late afternoon (when the rest of us that have 5.5 and 3.5yo are going home for the day). Remember, don't throw fast passes away if they have expired if you plan on going back to the same park that night. We have never had a problem using the fast passes after they expire as long as it is the same day! You will be able to hit so many attractions when the first parade or showing of Fantasmic is going on.

It always amazes me how hard people work to try to convince others that they shouldn't have a good time.

These people are bitter and sad, ignore them.

Hi and welcome.

Ignore anyone who wants to rain on your parade. It's Disney World and it's in Florida; it's ALWAYS hot and crowded!!! Those same people will always offer input on any decision you make; it's up to you to weigh good advice against people who want to bring down those around them.

This may help with your planning: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1715551

Our family is going to WDW the 2nd week of June. As soon as I tell people when we are going I always get a negative comment such as it will be hot and crowded. Why are you going then?

Is June really going to be that bad? I live in the southeast so heat and humidity is nothing new to us.

We have our plan as to which parks to visit when, which rides to hit early in the day, be there a rope drop, use fast pass, etc.

So what am I missing that this is going to be such a bad trip for everyone to react in such a negative manner?
Why is stating the obvious viewed as being negative. June is hot and crowded. That's not a negative statement, it's a true statement. And, by the way, I'm not one bit jealous they are going in June. I hope they have a good time, but it will be hot and crowded.

Just ignore them.
Eveyone has a different opinion.
Aways take negative comments with a "grain of salt."
Lots of guests go and enjoy their trips at that time.
Others sometimes like to offer opinions, just to appear "smarter."
Usually they don't even have actual experience to draw upon.
Stay optimistic.
You will have a great trip!

Love this!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We went the last week of June 2007 and found it to be fine. It was a little crowded but our longest wait time was maybe 15 minutes if that and the weather was good. We have been to WDW in August and the weather and crowds were crazy compared to June. Go have a great time and when you get back you can tell all those people what a wonderful time you all had. Have a great trip.

We always go in July because DH is a teacher so it's the only time we can go. Yes it's hot and crowded but you just need to plan around that. We always go to the parks when the open and leave at lunch time. Spend the afternoon swimming at the resort. Make ADR's at the park you want to be at in the evening - however fastpasses are usually gone by then so be ready to ride less popular rides.

Being hot and sweaty at Disney is better than being at work! Have a great time.

We have always gone at Christmas and Easter, this year we are going June 11-20... How much less crowded will it be???

Christmas and Easter are 10s with 10 being the busiest! Mid June will be more like 8s and 9s.

I didn't read the other responses so I'll probably end up repeating some of the same comments. :) I think you tend to get negative comments from people who haven't done any planning when they went, don't know how to use the fastpass and so on. All I can tell you is that I went one year, mid August and 8 months pregnant and with a 5 and 6 year old! We had a wonderful time! Do your home work, have a plan and you will be fine! :thumbsup2

Robo, do you have a job or is The DIS your career:rotfl:
Always thinking!
BTW, I'm writing this out for my two teenaged DD's!

We have been to WDW the 2nd week of June and we had a wonderful trip. Yes it was hot so we took breaks in the afternoon and made sure we bought some little hand held water/fans at wallmart. Those really kept us cooled off and the kids thought it was so much fun to be able to spray themselves when ever they were warm. Drink lots of water!
Don't worry about what others say, just plan for a fun time and you'll have one!

It will be hot, and a little busy, but you can still have a great time. Life's what you make it, right? (Sorry, a little Hannah Montana there!)

My mom has been complaining since December about how I shouldn't take the kids in July for a trip. About a month ago she said "hey, would you mind if I tagged along for a few days?" Oh, I guess it's not too hot to go now, is it? ;)

We have been in June with no rain over the course of one week. As long as you pace yourself and drink a lot of H20, you will be fine--and that is coming from a family that routinely keeps the thermostat at 65 in the summer! You will have a great time!:thumbsup2

IMO, people are so quick to talk or point out anything negative. The summer is a crowded time to go because that's when it's most convenient for families with children who are out of school.
!!

I truly believe this is human nature, it is easier to criticize than praise.

When we went in June, it rained some every day, and it was too hot for us.

I was worried about that but we only had rain twice. One evening at the Magic Kingdom and one afternoon just as we got off the tram in the MK parking lot, we got soaked. By the time we drove to Boardwalk, the sun was back out.

Hello!
My son and I went on our first trip to WDW May 26 to June 4, 2006...yes it was crowded, but not unbearable.. we used fast passes and EMH! We had a great trip other than.... it was very hot and that really bothered us... but you say the heat/humidity does not bother you... SO HAVE A WONDERFUL TRIP!!!!
 :cool1:  :cool1:

The first time we went in June was after our past 2 trips being in Navember. It took my DSs about a day to realize we were not going to last all day in the park without a break, and that it was possible to get cranky in The Happiest Place on Earth. By the 2nd day they were listening to my advice to amscrae after lunch and hit the pool. Returning in the late afternoon in fresh clothes made all the difference. Have a great trip :hippie: .
