Our trip is next week, and SeaWorld cancelled our Penguins Up Close Tour but booked us into the Behind the Scene tour. =(

Anyone know if the behind the scene tour will be worth it? I don't really want to be stuck in a tour for 90 minutes although I do get some sort of Penguins interaction, but probably really brief. :confused3

Ours got cancelled too but the tour is 10$ cheaper so we got a partial refund. Not all sure how the tour will be but I'm up for something new. Plus you get to pet a small shark!!!

Sorry about the cancellation of your tour. Hopefully you will enjoy the Behind the Scenes tour. Come back and let us know how it goes.

Did they email about the cancellation? Our penguin tour is booked for May, and I was wondering if the same will happen to us. Thanks!

Does the Behind the Scenes tour give you a visual of a penguin? Can you interact with the penguins? Did they tell you that in the email?

we are thinking of going in june and my wife doesn't want to go if she can't at least see or interact with a penguin. she loves the penguins.

we also were disappointed by penguin encounter being closed, and were thinking of doing the behind the scenes tour instead.
It says on the website that the behind the scenes tour includes interaction with penguins, does anybody know if this is still the case if the penguin enclosure is not open ?

If I am recalling correctly, the behind the scenes tour is more walking and more animals, less in-depth interaction. But I would recommend calling a SW rep and asking. I seem to recall her telling me the walking tour allowed to to pet a penguin, but it won't be the same as going into the cement area in the exhibit while two penguins hang around you (or in my DD's case, snuggle up to her until it was time to go!)

You do get to go back and pet a penguin but as far as penguins go that's it. It's very brief. Nothing like the actual penguin tour was. It was still neat though. It's 90 min tour walking around and part on a bus. You get to see some behind the scenes things which are neat and it's 10$ cheaper but I probably won't do it again. I will wait for the penguin tour to open up again!! The penguin tour we did in 2010 was so awesome!

The penguins are being held in a smaller building until 2013 when the new Antarctica attraction opens.Their old Penguin Encounter home became rubble last month, this area of the park had a very 70's,80's look to it so it really did need to go.I'm very excited about Antarctica as they have yet to give full details on the ride.Obviously just like Manta the penguins will be incorporated into the attraction.

I just called Seaworld to ask of the interaction with the penguin and they said you get to get up close the penguin and even pet it and this remains part of the tour although the penguin habitat and tour is under construction. i do believe we just made 1 ten year old a very happy girl with this. She loves penguins, just did an endangered penguin project and she even adopted a penguin at our zoo with her allowance money. Bring on the penguin!
