I have a question about how the penalties for not showing up with the proper party size at CRT or CG. We currently have reservations for 8 for both of these meals. We will be on the DXDDP. It looks like our au pair may not be coming with us now - which means we will be a party of 7. I am concerned that I won't be able to change the ressies and I am wondering if I leave it for 8 and show with 7 (since the table size will be exactly the same and I won't be keeping someone from getting a table) - will I have to pay for the missing person if she winds up not coming with us. I am going to try to change the ressie first once I know what she is doing but I am looking for penalty information so we can decide how important these meals are to us.

Thanks for your help.

Since both those ressies take a CC number to charge for a no show there is always the possiblity they would charge you. Yet, it was my experience at the CG that we weren't charged when 2 in our party didn't show due to an unplanned bout of the stomach flu.

On our honeymoon in October, I came down with a HORRIBLE case of the flu and we couldn't go to CG. My DH called the concierge where we were staying and we were told we would get charged but we never did??!:confused3

My guess that the credit card guarantee is to prevent no shows. Having 7 show up instead of 8 hardly constitutes a "no show". However, I would recommend you ask Disney dining and I am sure they can reassure you.

We had an ADR for 5 and showed up at CRT with only 4.....we were NOT on the dining plan, I'd already paid in full on my credit card months ago when I originally made the ADR for 5. Since the person couldn't come at the last minute I didn't have time to even call and try to change the reservation. I figured I was just out the payment.

Instead, I was given a Disney gift card with a refund not only for the person who didn't show up, but with 20% of our total bill because I had purchased a DDE card after I arrived at the park (didn't have it, or even know I would buy it when I made the ADR). I had asked if there was a way to get the discount now, again, not expecting, but it was worth asking. I got the feeling from the instant way that the server said she'd take care of both issues for me that it was not pixie dust that was helping me. Seemed like it was the policy to me.

VERY VERY cool.

So...I'd say leave your reservation alone, hope that she gets to come with you, and if not arrive with 7 and request a refund for the lady who couldn't make it.

Say hi to the Fairy Godmother for me!

Our trip last year we invited my Dad & Stepmom to come down with us. They were debating whether to bring her grandson, so I went ahead and made all of our ADR's including him. Once I knew he wasn't coming, I called dining back. The CM took him off the ADR's that had the cc guarantee (Norway & Candlelight package), she told me to leave the rest of the ADR's alone and just show up with one less person. Due to getting in late, my dad & stepmom weren't able to show up for our LeCellier ressie and we had no problems at all even with 3 people less :goodvibes

I think in most cases it's better to have one less than one more. I've heard they sometimes can't accommodate an extra person, but like you said, you'll be at the same size table. Have a great time!:goodvibes
