My 7 year old is severely allergic to peanuts/nuts. Does anyone have any suggestions for me to keep her safe. Is there anything I should do before I board or as I board?
Peanutgirl, I do know the answer to this question. We are sailing on January 8th and my son is also severly allergic to peanuts. As soon as we made our reservations the woman reassured me that they are used to dealing with this. DCL also faxed me a form which my son's pediatrician filled out and now I have to fax it to them. They also told me that the cast members at the kids club would be made aware of it and that I needed to meet with someone from dining services when we board the ship. We also got a table just for us because my son is so sensitive even the smell could set off anaphalxis. Also, check with your airline because we had to have the doctor write a letter addressed to our airline stating why we needed to bring the epi-pen (which is essentially a syringe) on the airplane. Wed afternoon I ate stir fry and the chef had a separate pan for shellfish allergies that he used. Also we observed one of the cruise staff members speaking to a family the son's allergies (he also wore an medibracelet).FreeTime said:If you have a medical issue will they cook your food away from everyone elses? My DH is alergic to beef, nuts and seafood. When we go to rest. around town they will make sure that items are cooked in a pan not a grill where beef may touch chicken, etc. Is this possible on DCL?
While we were eating lunch at Triton's we observed a medical emergency. Talk about fast arrival. We were not even aware what was going on. They announced something like "Bright Star Bright Star Tritons" We didn't have a clue what it was just thought a test of the system until suddenly people started coming in with equipment. We were actually just getting up to leave the restaurant and parallel to the scene.3xthecharm said:I did not consider the availability of medical persons. I'm sure they know that time is of the essence and would beat feet to the club.
