We will be going back to Our Happy Place in April of 2005. We arrive on the 15th, which is Peak season for lodging rates. On the 17th the season changes to Regular. Is there a way that we can avoid paying the Peak price for the whole week? We will be returning to POR Alligator Bayou on April 15 and leaving on the 23rd, 8 nights.

Also, If once I book the room only and a coupon comes out how do I apply the coupon, or can I?

Anyone with previous experience? I would really appreciate any help. This is the first time I am booking my own trip, piece by piece.

You would need to make 2 reservations. One for the 2 days of peak and the other one for the rest of your stay.

When you check in the first time mention that you have continuing reservations and would like to stay in the same room. The day the rates change to regular you will need to visit the front desk again and they will issue new cards for the rest of your stay. They will also settle the bill from the first stay.

Thanks safetymom!! That's a huge help and sort of what I had in mind. :)

momshark-check mousesavers.com. I think Mary had something on there about seasons changing and I think she said if you booked on a non peak season day that the price stayed when the season changed. I not sure because that wasn't my situation but I'm pretty sure there's something about it on her website. I know she reads these boards so if you're really lucky she may even respond to you.

It goes by the rate in effect the day you check in. So if the rates are high you pay that the enter time even if the rates change. It works in your favor if you check in when the rates are low then go high because you are getting the lower rate.

But they are checking in when the rates are high so they would want to switch when the rates drop. That is why you would need 2 reservations. There are lots of people that do this. That morning the lines are longer with people checking out/in.

The last time we did 2 reservations (I think because we had AP rates for part of the time but not the whole time), we didn't even have to visit the front desk. We were at CBR in November/December and told them at checkin. We used a CC for the reservation/incidentals. The front desk called us the morning of "checkout/recheckin" to verify we were still in the room and sent someone out with new keys. Great service!
