Skokie cops say peaches stolen from backyard tree

A Skokie man told police a woman with a shopping cart stole more than 100 peaches from a tree in his backyard.

The man, who lives in the 8000 block of Knox Avenue, told police he noticed the theft last week, but was unsure who had taken the fruit until a neighbor told him he had seen a woman in the yard putting peaches into a cart.

The neighbor said the woman left after he yelled at her.

Police had not made an arrest as of Tuesday.

especially after all the efforts it takes keeping the birds and bugs off them till they are even close to ripe.
