Ok... I've got a case of PDVCD (Post DVC Depression) and I need to deal with it. We went to a park today with friends and took our dogs for a long walk and that was nice but I am still down in the dumps. We just had such a great trip that it was hard coming back as it always is. This was perhaps the best vacation I have ever been on primarily because we went to BCV and just had an awesome time. I wished it would never end.

Maybe adding on points would be a good remedy :) I need something... help!!!

Plan your next trip to Disney ASAP! That always helps me. When I come back I need to know that there is one waiting in the wings and yes addonitis while a disease on its own can sometimes help alleviate the symptoms you are currently feeling. I now have 400 points at my beloved VWL and am looking forward to my upcoming trip with my two nieces in December in a 2 bedroom. Hope this helps.;)

Always have a trip in the planning stages, if one doesn't do it, then plan a few trips. I usually have 2 - 3 in the planning stages at all times.

By the way...on the DVC effect...wasn't it you that said you could quit at any time?

I used to get that way but then we started going 2 and 3 times a year and always having that next trip in the planning stages helped. However.....when we only went like once a year.........it made it really hard and I felt like you do now. I think now that we are DVC members it helps even more. We know we will be going again and again. This summer will be our last trip this year...so just two trips. The two previous years we went 3 times each year. It will probably be sad when I know we won't be going for at least another year. :scared:

I think hanging out on Dis helps :thumbsup2 too.

I would agree CONTINUOUS planning seems to help DW and I. It sounds silly but we really have planned thru 2010 and working on ideas for 2011! Now we don't plan it hard core, just start kicking around ideas and thoughts we learn from the Dis. We right stuff down and add and delete others, It does help...BUT mostly sharing on the Dis helpd contain us. Shawnpirate:

Have one in the hole - that is what I do. That is the main reason we got DVC - so we can always have some comeing up!!

Can't help much with this as I'm looking for a cure myself! We just got back three weeks ago and I'm so depressed. I totally agree with everyone here who say to plan another trip. I have to do that just to get through the day. LoL Unfortunately DH only gets one vacation a year so we cannot go again for at least twelve whole months. You'll still find me planning away anyhow. :)

I guess I'll have to add on to have one in the hole :)
Yes!!! Add on. It cures all (at least until the next trip, or the next new resort opens)! ;)

Live trip reports help as well. I love reading others' stories while they are down there. Trip reports with pictures are great, as they make me feel like I'm there. :thumbsup2

Sorry about the withdrawals. We leave Friday, and I've already thought about how quickly that time passes. :sad2: Like others have said, though, our next trip is in July, so all is well!

Well I delt with it... I added on at HH. Thats a great place for us to vacation. Here is a picture of my son and I going out for a cruise. We spotted dolphins and had a great time.

DW & I always have at least one trip in the hole. We are fortunate enough to be able to fly "Home" twice a year, so we keep two trips in the planning stages ahead of our next planned trip; one reserved at the 11 month window, and one on the official family calendar (Outlook - need my computer don't you know! :surfweb:).

To keep it alive, I always start a spreadsheet as soon as the trip is conceived. That means we have three to work on at any one time.

The spreadsheet has evolved over our trips in the past years, so it really is just a fill-in-the slots type game to play. As the weeks grind on, a little more information comes into focus and goes on the appropriate sheet. The sheets hold date, day of the week, which park has EMH (Eextra Magic Hours), slots for morning, noon, and evening destination or plans, and of course places to put our ADR sites, Res. #s, and time. I find places to park our flight information ME #s, etc. AS we get within a few weeks, all is planned, the sheet holds the next master plan, and off we go! :yay:

I know, I know, , , many are saying "that is not a vacation - too many plans". We usually vary our plan, and can always cancel ADR if we choose, but try to get into your favorite place during a short visit "Home"!

The point of the spreadsheet is to keep focused on the next adventure; it keeps the excitement of DVC fresh and fun, and working the sheets always creates good conversation and dreaming with DW.

DVC - have fun with it - wear it out - you're paying for it! :lmao:

Us too... on both coasts. Soonest will be Star Wars Weekends at OKW for my sons and I, then back to the DL Hotel while in CA tagged on to the end of a business trip in Oct, family trip to THV/AKV next Jan with my parents, anniversary trip to DL with DW next March to hopefully inaugurate our VGC points, and DL in fall 2010 with DW's Sis & family coming along at VGC. 2011 isn't that far off, and that year we're pondering our creating our own land/sea trip... plus ??? who knows yet. We tend to have 4-6 trips in planning at any time now.

I totally understand what you are feeling. When we arrive back home it always takes a while buefore i can even come here to the dis boards again. I'd rather just not think about it for a while. Now, three weeks after our trip was over I am into plainning our next fall and spring vacations. it helps to anticipate the next trip.

Take heart, DVC means you will always be returning. Imagine if that wasn't the case?

I actually had a mini spread sheet in my wallet the entire DVC vacation with all the info I needed for the trip. It was a great & small resource that gave us liberating guidance daily.

Yea, the spreadsheets do go on vacation. Ours has all of the needed phone numbers for MS, ADR, Resorts, Etc. (even tho they are in the cell phones, too). It just allows us to relax that we have indeed thought about the trip and have at least shown that we can do everything we want to do during the visit "Home"; doesn't mean we do it.

Maybe we will plan our retirement as well someday!

Even after 12 years of DVC trips and going multiple times a year, I still get those PDVCD's! It always seems WAY TOO LONG until the next trip when I first get home. Even this time when we went in January, are going in May and December, it seems interminable, and then I'm already moaning about only getting two trips next year!!

Oh, do I ever know what you are talking about. I usually have to wait 6 months or more before I can even look at the photos! Now that we have this next on planned in December, I can enjoy the memories of last time we were there.

All joking aside, I find that there are times when I really need a DVC trip planning fix.
I think about who to invite, where to stay, and then I go to the points charts. Usually that is enough to improve my mood.
It sounds nuts, but it is true. I currently know that I will have to borrow 83 points from my 2012 use year, after I bank 46 in 2010.
I just need a little dose of planning and I feel better.
I used to get so depressed on the last day of my disney vacation, but now I just remind myself that I am coming back, and I don't feel bad about not fitting in every ride or seeing every show. It really changed how I tour, realizing that it will be there waiting for me next time.
And then the member website helps, but not as much as these boards. These boards are like a Disney AA meeting... you know you have a problem, but you realize you aren't alone.
