I am looking for a new PDA. I currently have a Palm V that is 3.5 years old (ancient in these days of electronic gadget with a shelf life of 15min before becoming obsolete) and about to die. I use it mostly as a planer and a contact database that I link to my computer. Any suggestions? I’m looking for something that will give me the most bang for the buck

well.. you said the most bang for your buck.. so here it is:

Dell Axim X5

Here are a couple of the reasons why:

The Dell Axim X5 handheld's sophisticated design encloses a brilliant 3.5" high-resolution transflective color display, four application keys, a navigator button, scroll dial, record button, and headphone mini-jack. But Dell Axim X5 handhelds have much more than just a pretty face on the outside. Inside is an Intel® XScaleTM Processor at 400MHz or 300MHz processor, 32MB or 64MB of SDRAM, and 32MB or 48MB of Flash ROM.

Two prices:
$199 or $299

Thank you for the posting about the Dell PDA. I had read about it in time a couple of weeks ago.

I am partial to the Visor's... they have always worked well for me. I use mine for most of the same stuff plus wireless email and internet

Thanks for the input. I will be checking out the Dell. My DW has a Visor and it works fine. Battery life is shorter than my palm, I'm guessing because of the color display.

Anybody else have any suggestions?

the unthinkable happened - I lost my Visor Prism   so I ordered the Axim Dec 18th, and it is just now getting shipped, if you do order get the 400 they seem to ship a bit faster that the 300

I got my Axim the week before christmas.. I love it.. I hope you like yours as much as I like mine..

I got the netgear wireless for it.. and it came in handy over christmas holiday when we were site seeing and lost.. just went to starbucks hopped on mapquest and were good to go!
