I don't know if any of you are ebay people or if you have paypal, but here's what i did and i think it may be helpful to others of the Canadian persuasion. I was selling things on ebay for my trip, and instead of getting the money deposited in my account (they won't put it in a US account in Canada, only a Canadian account) i got them to send me a debit card that i can use for the US amount i had and i plan to use that to purchase my gas and food on the drive down to FLorida. It says there is no charge for using it for purchases but if you use it at an atm there is a $1 charge. I thought this was a good idea since i didn't want to lose the exchange when converting it from US to Can back to US .

My DBF has this card and I think it's great I love that you save money on the exchange rate since you don't have to convert the money back and forth.

I have bought all my php with it and I am paying off the resort stay too.. it is really good since I don't have to think of conversion!

Mousy, did you buy your PHP in Canada with a debit card? Is this card only for use in the states? I'm interested - got a whack of money in my Paypal that I wanna use!

You can use it in the the Canada and the USA, I used it to buy my tickets from Ticket Mania.. they have the cheapest tickets anyway and free shipping to us too...

the debit card I got was in US funds since the funds in my paypal were US and i didn't want it converted back and forth.

I use my paypal card for my Disney vacation as well. I booked my hotel directly through Disney and paid through paypal. I also sell on ebay and use all the money for our vacation. Also if you use it as a Mastercard, I believe you get 1.5 % back on your purchases. Not a lot but better in my pocket than in theirs. I don't exchange any money at all and it works out great for us just having to strictly use our paypal card for purchases and to withdrawl cash.

How do you get this debit card? What is it actually called? Do you go to your paypal account, and access it there?

You have to have had your paypal account for 90 days, and when you qualify there is a link on the bottom of the paypal page that says " atm/debit card" click that and then you get it!

My husband and I are hoping to surprise our 3 children with a trip for Christmas (leaving the day after they open the tickets!). Great plan, let's see if the money works out. And yes, we would fly. It is about 13 - 14 hours drive to Winnipeg airport.
