paying for SSR week after Christmas

We are thinking of going to WDW the week between Christmas and N. Y. We don't want to use points and would be traveling with another family. Any ideas how difficult it might be to book SSR and paying for it instead of using points?

We are new owners so we aren't sure about how this works.

You could book through CRO. But I'd bet you couldn't get the member discount for that week, too busy.

We've stayed at SSR this week every year for the last 4. It is very busy, so if you want to pay cash, I would call MS and reserve now. You will have to pay a 1 night deposit upon booking.

We've always used points, but I have checked cash rates after I was waitlisted for NYE night and expect to pay $400 or more for a studio. There were very few discount nights available and NYE was pretty much sold out for cash or points. My waitlist came through so we used points.

Definitely book your NYE ressie ASAP, because although SSR is large, availability will be lvery imited, especially with NYE falling on a Sunday night this year.

I learned my lesson last year (originally booked BCV for NYE then tried to switch to SSR) and booked SSR for NYE when the 11 month window opened.
