Paying annual dues with Reward Points

I received my dues notice today on our new Vacation Club and I had heard that I could pay it with my Disney Visa rewards points. Has anyone ever done this? How do I do it?

My advice is to call Member Accounting (an option on the MS 800 number) and ask them. Please let us know what you find out.

Someone has posted about having used this option. I agree that the best way to handle it is to ask MS how they'd like you to do it.

Well, I'm happy to be the guinnea pig and try this out. I called DVC and my Disney Visa and here's what I found out:

I have to get a reward card issued in $20 increments that will cover the cost of our dues. Our 1/2 year payment is $327.99 so I asked for a card for $400. When I receive it in 5-7 days, I just call member accounting and give them the Reward Card number. The balance will stay on the card but will expire in one year.

Also, I can have more reward dollars added to the card by calling Visa and they will be automatically added to the card balace without a waiting period.

I'll let you know if it works!

We use our Disney Visa for everything and our plan is to never have to pay the dues with real money.

If you sign up to access your card online, you'll be able to manage your reward dollars online, as well.

You can go in and transfer the dollars to your card, and they will be added immediately.

The option of managing rewards online has been missing from the drop-down menu on the card website. Hopefully it was just a glitch in the system and everything will be back to normal soon.

Did your account just cycle? Maybe it drops off while it's updating your balance?!?

No, and I just checked again and it's not there. Isn't that strange? I better call Customer Service and see if there's something going on with my account.

I did it last year. You create a debit card and apply your points to the debit card. You give ms the card number of the debit card and they read the debit available balance and deduct from your maintenance fee. The balance can be paid with the disney credit card.

Thank you, thank you for this information. I have several hundred dollars in reward money and I would love to apply it to my dues. I didn't realize you could pay with disney $$$. I purchased my DVC with the card to get more $$$ and now I can pay dues with them. You made my day!!
