Hi everyone. I'm feeling a bit disillusioned at the moment and I like to visit the Dis for a feel-good-fix. I find the people on here friendly, helpful and kind.:goodvibes

So...in the spirit of 'pay it forward' - what's the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you? Or that you have done for someone else?

I'll start the ball rolling. A relative of mine had a train phobia, so I used to drive him to Salford uni each term from the Midlands. When I was pregnant, I left my purse in Tesco's (with cash, ID, credit cards etc) and a lovely stranger ran after me to give it back.

My good friend's car broke down and his wife's baby was due any day. Without his car he was worried about getting her to the hospital. So I put them both on my car insurance and gave him my car for a month whilst his was in the garage.

Nice things people have done for me? My best friends used their DVC points for us to stay for a week at the Grand Californian at Disneyland in a theme park view room for our anniversary.

we were in frankie's and bennys over the weekend and i gave away 4 kids eat free vouchers to a large group ( we didn't have our kids with us) they were really pleased

I love to do small things like give away my parking ticket if there is still time on it !

Grrat thread :)

I always think that the little things make a difference. I remember before Christmas I had a 20% off voucher for Woolworths, and I saw a family with 2 baskets full of shopping, so I gave them the voucher - they were so pleased, it made my day

On holiday, we like to give our fastpasses away if we're not going to use them, as I know I love it when people do it for us :)

There are some lovely people on the Dis!:goodvibes

Like Mandy and Nat I give away my pay and display parking ticket and money off vouchers if I can.
I was in Gap last week, I had the 30% off vouchers in my bag (I always print off a few for friends) and myself and another woman were looking at the same pair of kids jeans, she said to me "they're lovely but it's more than I pay for my jeans!" I asked her if she had the voucher, she didnt so I gave her one, she was very pleased as she was out holiday shopping so got more for her money:thumbsup2

what a lovely thread :goodvibes

A few weeks ago I was waiting to buy a sandwich for my lunch and I didn't have the exact money and wanted to use a note, however the girl didn't have enough change in her till so a guy standing behind me who was only about 17 asked how much I was short in order to give her the right amount and he paid the difference, it made my day :)

I always give my parking tickets away if there's time left on them and I gave my Gap 30% voucher to someone too and I've spent this weekend cleaning up dd's first pushchair (which I only used twice as it was too big for the boot of my car) to give to someone at work.

We gave all of Isabelles baby tiny stuff to the neonatal unit, everytime i bought her a pack of the tiny nappies i got extra for the unit, id keep some for the new parents , we bought sweets chocolate and cakes etc in each week for the staff.

We always pass over our parking tickets so someone else can use them, my kids each buy one present for the christmas collection for children at the church.
One time @ disney i had loads of snack credits left and some qs ones so stayed in line and bought the next 5 people there items.:goodvibes

We always clear out the kids toys and clothes around their birthdays and Christmas and give them to poor children (I never give broken things, just things they don't play with or use anymore) I always give my things to the poor too, I never chuck anything away someone less fortunate might need.
I once helped an old lady I met in the street read a letter she received, she couldn't read much and was VERY old. bless.

I once lost my purse and I have no idea where, I didn't even realise it was gone until later that evening a nice bloke knocked on the door with it!! I couldn't believe he walked all the way to my house to give it back and he took nothing from it either!!
there are some NICE people around :)

This is a lovely thread. We are members of our local freecycle group and regularly give things we no longer want to someone who wants them. This afternoon I have a guy coming to pick up our old wardrobe and bedside table for his daughter who has just moved into her own flat and can't afford furniture for her little girl's room. I always give away any unused time on my parking ticket - although some people look at you strangely when you offer it to them - I disagree with locals having to pay for parking anyway so I am always glad to help someone else out and get them free parking.

ive often given away fastpasses....and had to explain what they are !!

I had VIP fastpasses left over when we were at DLH this year and gave them away. I also do the car park ticket thing - I once had the parking attendant threaten to report me to the police as it is apparently a crime.:rolleyes1 I also hand out 241 tickets if I have them when queuing for Hatton Country World and our local soft play area. I had one man eye me suspiciously as I think he thought I was some sort of ticket tout.:rotfl:

I was on a bus in Birmingham many years ago and a rather scruffy old man got on. The bus was busy and I could see people were reluctant to have him sit next to them. They didn't budge or move their bags. I moved across in my seat so he could sit next to me. He was a bit smelly and I get quite travel sick on buses, so I'm ashamed to admit that I secretly wished he'd sat somewhere else. As he got up to get off at his stop, he offered me an apple from his shopping and said 'Thank you'. I was completely humbled by his gesture. It has stayed with me for 20 years.

What a lovely thread. :goodvibes

A young girl I worked with had boyfriend problems which were impacting on her home life and she had a major fall out with her parents. She phoned me (still don't know why she picked me :confused3) and asked if she could come and stay. I was off on maternity leave, my DD (now 17) had only just come home from being in a neo-natal unit 30 miles away after a serious operation the day after she was born and I was still recovering from a caesarian yet I helped out. Luckily, they all patched things up within a week ~ phew!!

A lovely DISer on the DLP board knew I had failed to buy a Christmas ornament with 2008 on during my summer holiday and she bought a HUGE one and sent it to me anonymously.........but I soon sussed her! ;)
