Has anyone rented the pavillion by the pool (and tennis courts) for a family gathering? We are celebrating my DS 4th birthday with a BBQ by the pool and would love to use the pavillion. I contacted the Fort and the CM really didn't understand what I was wanting:confused3. I would like to know if anyone has done this and how I go about reserving it. Thanks for your help!!

I believe other Disboarders have inquired about this and have received the same response, i.e. nobody knows.

Based upon my personal observation, it is first-come, first-served. I have seen folks stake the pavilion out at 7 am. On this occasion, the people took over the whole pavilion, and entertained a big party, many of whom clearly arrived via bus from the front parking lot. When they commandeered the pavilion at 7 am, they put their stuff on all the tables, and hung decorations around the whole pavilion. They also put bags of charcoal on top of all of the grills- I assume as a sign to others to back-off because they were all taken. I thought that was very inconsiderate. They hung out there all day. A lot of times, there weren't more than a couple of people actually sitting in the pavilion.

The pavilion is an amenity available to the guests of FW. I would say if you are staying at the Fort and want to use it, then by all means do so.

These comments aren't directed at you personally, sjsinnessu, but to anyone thinking of using the pavilion to the exclusion of other guests: I don't think anyone should think it's OK to take over the whole pavilion and exclude others from using it. If you have that big of a party, reserve an extra campsite and have your party there. Or go to a public park where you live.

If you want to use a couple of tables in the pavilion, and you are willing to share with others, then go right ahead, and have a great time.

That is kinda what I saw last time we were there. There are 15 family members camping over the weekend and I thought it would be easier to feed everyone at the pool. I will only need about 2 tables at any one time and one grill, we are only doing hot dogs. I left a message with catering about a reservation, but have not heard back. I don't mind paying to reserve, I just want to go about it the right way. I will post any information that I find out.

Also, are there other picnic tables in the shade? I really can't remember. I don't need the entire pavillion.

Yes, please post if you get any official word on this.

There are other picnic tables in the area of the pavilion, and there are also tables and chairs around the pool. But, a lot of these do get "claimed" early in the day, especially on holiday weekends.

I have observed the Pavillion being used many times by large groups. It appeared to be a very organised event.

IMHO - It wouldn't hurt to contact the front desk - at least you will knowif it is a first come first serve.. then camp out! :confused3
