When dh and I were round my dads last night we mentioned that we are thinking of going to WDW again next year and we were told in a patronising manner that "there are other places to go you know!!" What really annoys me is that these are the people that went to the same place in Turkey every year for about 7 years!! Dh and I have both travalled to lots of different places in the world so its not like we have never been anywhere else!

Ok rant over!

the perils of talking about your holidays with anyone else :) everyones got an opinion thats better than yours :confused3

another reason the dis is so popular :thumbsup2 you can never go to WDW too often

When I got back my mother rolled her eyes and said "you've booked to go again haven't you" haven't told her its for 3 weeks next time.

:cool1:

Very used to this one, way I get around it now is to invite people to go with us, sometimes its just jealousy rearing its head  best case scenario: they end up loving it! Otherwise i just talk here about my passion,

You rant away Jen

We get this all the time, and it is said in a manner that we aren't doing the right thing for the girls by going back to Disney all the time

Until these people start contributing financially to my holiday, then I'll go where I want (and even if they did contribute, I still wouldn't take any notice ~ but I'd thank them for their money going towards my Annual Passes :rotfl: :rotfl: )

Mandy :)

I get the same reaction from my friends/family and I dread to think of the stick my DH gets from his work colleagues... :rolleyes1 But so what!? It's our money and it's up to us how we spend it. :earsboy: :earsgirl: Going to WDW always leaves us flying home with a smile on our faces and a whole load of great memories. It's part of who we are as a family - I personally think it's wonderful that my DD23 and DS21 still want to make that trip with us whenever we go. We took my DH's niece this year and apparently she cried for a whole day when she returned as she'd had such a fab time and was missing the magic! :wizard: All in all it's a very special place and IMO they're the ones missing out... :cloud9:

I remember being stuck in traffic on the motorway with my boss and collegue. We started talking about Weddings and Honeymoons and my boss said that he couldn't think of anywhere worse than Florida to go for your honeymoon - I dithered for about 5 seconds and then thought 'stuff it' and told him that's where we'd been!

I know 5 parks in 6 days wouldn't be everyones idea of fun but we loved our Disneymoon :)

Each to their own though - I especially 'enjoy' the opinions of people who have never been and have no idea about the range of things available to do

So rant away!

My feelings exactly Mandy :thumbsup2

Hi

I know what you mean. We get this from my parents and friends. My dh always gets from work colleagues how can you afford it. We cant and they are on double Bruces wages. They forget is my job is shift work and working as a Nurse its tiring so we do not spend our money on social life. Ok we do go out at times and the kids are never without but we prefer to spend our money on a family holiday to WDW. My mum is like why dont you move to a bigger house or decorate this or that. The way Bruce and I think the kids will thank us for holidays and wont thank us for always decorating.

I love FL and this is where we always want to go.

Rant as much as you want. It's not like your the only one who goes to WDW year after year. We used to go to DLP all the time before we figured out they weren't really going to change things much..

Besides which; the people who snub you are just being hippocritical anyway..

I know what you mean but each to their own. It is our holiday, it is something we all enjoy doing so that is the way it is and that is that. If we wanted to do something else we could, it is our choice.

We usually get comments like this from my sister who has never been to Florida at all. I just say don't knock it until you have tried it.All the rest of my family have been and know all to well why we go back year after year.
Until dd does not want to go we won't think of going anywhere else. Don't get me wrong she does go to other countries for short breaks, Italy,New York, Boston,France,Jersey but for a main holiday we prefer WDW.

I get this all the time Jen, including the comments, "how can you afford it", and "dont you get fed up with the same place all the time", and "oh no not Disney again". I just ignore them all :thumbsup2

My thoughts exactly :)

But wouldn't you love to see the world!!?? :confused3

(Tenerife - All day English breakfast, Torremolinos - straw donkeys, Cyprus - dead horses at side of road, Ibiza - drunken chavs and karaoke bars, Etc etc.)

Hmmm ...

£700 for a caravan in Devon for a week or £500 for an air conditioned villa with a pool in Florida?

9 hour journey by car stuck in traffic jams behind caravans and tractors or 9 hour journey being wined and dined on a jet with your own personal entertainment system?

2 weeks in the company of burberry cap / pink tracksuited Vicky Pollards or 2 weeks with a mouse, Shamu and the wonderous attractions that Orlando has to offer?

I live in one of those places and really object to your comments This is the same prejudice we are talking about for disney in reverse

It wouldn't pay for us all to be the same would it. Turkey is one place i would never want to go to. Have they ever been to Florida these people who comment like this probably don't know what they are missing. :thumbsup2
