Day two the quest for Donald continues!! Another beautiful morning with temps in the low 80s predicted. We are up early and over to Tubies for some breakfast prior to getting on with our day. We board the boats and venture over to MGM for the morning, I love the boat rides over, so calm and relaxing. Upon arrival to MGM another concern arises, we are early but there appears to be hundreds of cheerleaders everywhere! They are in full uniform and doing cheers while waiting in line. Some inquiries are made and I find out they are holding the National Competion this weekend, today they are all going to be in the Indiana Jones venue, we decide to go the opposite direction.
Upon opening off towards Rock and Roll and TOT! I enjoy walking down the streets at opening and seeing all the CMs of the shops waving at the crowds. We walk right on Rock and Roll- twice and fast pass TOT in the middle. After finishing these rides we decide its time for an ice mocha coffee, there is a wonderful coffee cart over by TOT. While heading over there a lovely young lady and her mother approach and ask if I am with the Dis, I had my Tee shirt on. It was Jules and Jules Mom! They had seen me in line and found us. We chatted for a bit, wonderful folks although I did not remember to take a picture. Off to get our Ice Coffee and then over to see Beauty and the Beast. They have a wonderful opening act, so get there early, 4 guys doing doo-wap, they were awesome. The show was incredible as was the costuming! Pure Disney!
Now we wander around still hunting for Donald. While walking we spot Pooh Bear, one of DWs favs so we get a picture of them together. A little bit later I stumble upon Sorcerer Mickey, my second Favorite, and I get my pic with him! I had made some plans to meet up with some disers around one so we started heading out towards the main entrance.
As we are walking out there he is!!!!!!!! Its classical Donald taking pics in the center of MGM, bad part, there are about 1000 people waiting to get their shot with him. Tough call, but I still have time so we will catch him later or in another park, we take our boat back to Swan. We meet up with two dis mods, Debi, my chat co-host and Disney Daniel from the Teen Board at the Dolphin Fountain. Daniels parents were there with him and we had a lovely visit, it would not be the last time we see any of these folks on our trip. Its time for our mid-day swim and break so over to the grotto pool for a while, the hot tub feels great on these old legs lol.
Now we are headed over to World Showcase for our evening. We go two hours early just to look around some and enjoy the countries. The shops are wonderful and DW gets her picture taken with the guy in Italy who has the gold rose. Our dinner is at Japan, Teppanyaki. We climb the stairs and head up, meanwhile the drummers are starting their show in Japan, we listen and watch as we wait, very cool! Our meal was wonderful, similar to a Benihannas but better IMHO- we sat with some wonderful folks and I enjoyed some Japanese Beer with my meal!
As we exit Japan TOD is just starting in front of us!!!!! What a wonderful parade this is and we were so close, quite an experience. We continue touring as it is getting darker and eventually make our way over to France for some dessert, a tip I picked up at discon. We order our dessert and coffee and sit in the courtyard and enjoy the evening, perfect. Now out in front of France we pick out a sport for Illuminations. I think fewer things are prettier then the evening in World Showcase with the lights and torches lit. We sit rail side and enjoy my favorite fireworks display that WDW does. Upon the ending we walk leisurely through the International Gateway and back towards our hotel.
We did stop at Boardwalk, a wonderful place in the evening. We ran into Daniel and his parents again and chated for a bit. We so much enjoy the impromptu entertainment on the walk, watched two different performers and window shopped a little. We decided that we would come back tomorrow and see more on boardwalk and headed to the Swan. I finish the evening with a cold beer on my balcony with no worries. One concern, did I miss my opportunity for the Donald shot??? Well I still have two full days so I am not too worried. Stay tuned for more in part 3.
