We've got 21 days until our first day on a DVC property. :cool1:

Anyway - does anyone know if/where there is a path for running/walking and how many miles it is?

I'm not a very good runner and wouldn't want to start out on a path and find myself in trouble after 3 miles - that's my max! :)

I'd like to know before I go so I know if I should pack my stuff... or just forget about running for the week....

Most people jog around the lake - over to the Y&BC, cross the bridge near the S&D and back. Can't remember how long it is, though. Several runners each morning out there taking a jog.

That's sort of my plan - run that "path" - I suppose I could go one direction until I feel about half-way done (I can tell by the songs on my ipod) and then turn around - it would be nice to be able to run around the entire path...

You can also jog the path to and from Hollywood Studios. Someone on these boards has maps with the distances already marked. Hopefully they will be posted soon. In the meantime plan on packing those jogging things so you can join the other joggers every morning!

Easy to do a jog around the lake. It is about a mile to run completely around the lake. You can also add a run to studios along the walking path to it and back which adds about 2 miles (one each way).

disneyrunningnut - thanks for that link! Just what I needed for today!

OP: I get bored fairly quickly by the lake loop along Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach Clubs and yesterday explored the trails at Caribbean Beach Resort (CBR). I'm happy to report that you can reach CBR by foot from BWV using sidewalk and pedestrian cross-walks/signals along both Epcot Resorts Blvd and Buena Vista Drive. The sidewalk ends just at the outside corner of CBR -- so be ready to dart across a buffer lawn for the last 100 feet or so before reaching pavement again.

I was chased by Disneybot-guards only once during my very long trek yesterday ... not bad.

Edited to add: I recommend the trail between Downtown Disney (West Side) to OKW. It is quite scenic and isn't as likely to be congested with strollers as the Boardwalk loop.

Ohhh.... last time we were there we stayed at CBR, but I "couldn't" run yet. Just this past year I trained for my first 5K and now actually enjoy running and thought it would be nice to run during our vacation.

Thank you everyone for all those links and information. Looks like the jogging gear will make the cut for what to bring with! :)

LOL! Citizen! I mean guest! Do you have a permit to be in this location?

Why did they care? Wasn't it obvious what you were doing or did you stray into some backstage area? Or was it running along a road without a sidewalk?

I dunno, it is a Disney-thing. Too many boundaries, fences, ropes, signs and rules for my personality type. (I'm a strict law-abider.)

Having run the CBR loop twice, I was meandering across the little island near the center of the water feature. I took a clearly legal "bridge" to enter the island and from the main path choose a lesser path to the left. I walked through an open gate and past a large sand play lot. The path under my feet changed from concrete to wooden planks back to concrete and appeared, for all intents and purposes, to be legal for passage. I noted cutsie "fort-like" visual interests such as the "stone" wall on my left and its cannons. It sure looked like a place welcome for exploring??? That is when two bots emerged from the foliage, in loud voice, "Excuse me, maaaaaa'am. You must turn around and exit through the gate you entered." They then herded me out from behind (flanking me from two sides to prevent my missing the intended exit). Yeeeesh. I never learned what rule or boundary I broke ... but the inviting little island was apparently off-limits. (Story of my life with all things Disney. Rules, rules, rules!!!)
