Pat Roberston stirring up a storm again

No, we send our soldiers to war to kill (or capture) the enemy. Not sure what you mean by "a goal not to kill." :confused3

I'm sorry, I thought we were in Iraq to "secure" it for the Iraqis from the insurgents. You know, to guard the police stations and schools, protecting the power plants and the hospitals. I thought that was the "goal". I wasn't aware (even if no one was attacking you at the moment) you couldn't do that without killing. I wasn't aware you couldn't have a mission in war that did something stupid like maybe kill as few people as possible to accomplish the said mission. I didn't know the main reason we sent our soldiers to Iraq was to kill as many people as we could. I now stand corrected.

tsk tsk tsk.... That's not very PC!! :teeth:

I never claimed to be PC :teeth: :teeth: I had my carb and feel rejuvinated. I had a big bowl of Texas Chili. It was very good even though it was very "Oily" and full of "Pork Fat" and I'll probably have a lot of "Hot Air" later.

Liberals don't have "enemies" Jimmie, except those on the right of course. We just need to join hands and sing "Kumbaya" and perhaps share a "group hug".

Please join hands...

That's good.

All together now..

1, 2, 3...

:rockband:
Kumbaya my lord, kumbaya
Kumbaya my lord, kumbaya
Kumbaya my lord, kumbaya
Oh lord, kumbaya

Someone’s singing lord, kumbaya
Someone’s singing lord, kumbaya
Someone’s singing lord, kumbaya
Oh lord, kumbayah

Someone’s laughing, lord, kumbaya

Someone’s crying, lord, kumbaya

Oh. I feel so much better now.

BTW - I thought us Left Wingers were supposed to be Godless heathens. Why on earth would you accuse us of singing a song about praying to the Lord? BTW - I love this song!

At least he called it like it is. It only sounds crazy because he said it out loud.

I don't think he's crazy, I think he's irresponsible.

But for a Clinton administration official to advocate assasination was okay?
[/url]
Of course not, and it was wrong of George, who happened to be out of the Clinton cabinet by then, to suggest it!! That's why U.S. Defense Secretary William Cohen immediately issued the following slapdown:

"I think we have had our own experiences with assassination which reinforces our position that's not the way in which civilized nations behave. It contravenes international standards and norms and we will not pursue it."

This is the difference between neocons and us. If a Democrat suggests an inapropriate course of action, we aren't afraid to call them on it. If a neocon screws up...all neocons happily line up behind the insulting, illegal comments, put your hands over your eyes and ears, and scream into the wind.

Just like they slapped down Durbin? :confused3 And lest you forgot what happened to Trent Lott.

As far as Durbin...last time I checked, complaining about prisoner human rights violations was not illegal, although his statements were inappropriate and overly dramatic.

As for Lott, I'll give you that, and it's why I said Neocon's instead of Republicans. Sentor Lott is still serving and lost his position as Majority Leader. What he said was shortsighted but not impeachable. There are still quite a few rational, forward thinking Republicans in the world who haven't yet partaken from the neocon koolaid. Senators McCain and Snowe are a couple that come to mind, but there are others.

I'm sorry but you're a page late...someone already won the "first to name Clinton" award. Nice try though.

At any rate, this isn't about President Clinton nor is it about Lott or Durbin or anyone else the right can think of to try and throw the subject off track.

It's about Pat Robertson and his call for the assassination of a democratically elected leader of a foreign country and about those, some of whom posted here, who agree with him.

Bingo! And at least Pat offered a semblance of an apology, something we've yet to see others on here who agreed with him either post or even say they agree with.

DawnCT1 can dance around this all she wants, but it is crystal clear that she was saying the same thing Robertson did... she just managed to avoid using the magic word "assassinate." I suppose tip-toeing around the magic word somehow makes it all OK??

For the 2nd time, Dawn, what part of "Thou shalt not kill" is unclear to you?

When you were growing up, did your mother ever tell you, "birds of a feather flock together"? If you look at the "flock" you will see everything you need to know about Chavez. Still having trouble with that "S" key?

So by this assomption ( oh , my english can be bad , sorry for spelling) If presudent Bush holds hans with the Prince of Saudi Arabia ( never , ever elected by the way) , there is a danger that soon The USA will applie somekind of laws to keep women inside there house all the timeand cover there face ? This argument is ...weak. Chavez is aligning him self with South-American poor countries. He sends cheap gas at 40$ a barel to Jamaica and Dominican Republic and helps the poor of is country. I am not ready to say that he is perfect , and that we should not be very aware of what he is doing , be he is STILL AN ELECTED OFFICIAL !
For the moment , to put Chavez in the same basket as that Coreen madman is like putting Harry Potter in the same basket as Valdermore just because they are both magicians !

I'm sure George Washington shook Benedict Arnold's hand too. (Too bad there were no cameras then.)

Saddam was the enemy of our enemy, Iran, at the time of your popular leftist photo.

You're comparing Sadaam to George Washington?
