For the formal night on the 7 night cruise, do the teenage boys usually wear suits or tuxes?

I don't want my 13 year old (big 13 year old  ) to feel uncomfortable.

My 12 year old nephew thought a tux would be cool. Other 12 year old boys would opt for room service ... I think it depends on the boy.

Most of the dining room at that age was shirt and tie and jackets for the cruises I was on.

Hope that helps...

Very few boys wore tux. Some wore suits and ties. Many wore "dockers" type pants and shirts, even on formal night. You could sort of tell the families that wanted "formal" family portraits...those boys were in suits and were removing parts of them at dinner!

Bottom line, the dress code is casual/comfortable for young people on any night. They are more than welcome to dress up, but other than expecting long pants and not jeans...a polo shirt and nice pants are fine.

Our DSs will be 16 and 13 when we cruise this summer and they'll be wearing their black suits on formal and semi-formal nights. I plan on getting DH and DSs matching "Mickey" ties.... not bright gaudy ones, but the type where you really have to look to see the hidden Mickeys in the pattern. :)

There seems to be a wide range of opinions on this subject.

I plan to have my 14 yr old in a sport jacket since he needs one for his 8th grade graduation anyway. Otherwise he would be in a nice shirt and pants.

My DH will be in a suit or sports jacket.

Do what works for you and enjoy!

My 9 year old (at the time) wore a tux. He looked great and thought it was cool. He was one of a handful but that didn't bother him. Either way, dressing up is not a usual thing for a young boy. Why not a tux? Besides, the formal pictures were awesome. By the way, we cruise in April and he'll be 11. He'll willingly where one then, too.

I want to add that if my DSs didn't already own suits, I'd probably rent tuxes for them. I think they'd make for a wonderful formal family portrait :) Maybe I'll rent DH and DSs tuxes anyway. :teeth: I'm just wondering how closely they match the measurements to the correct tux size. I don't want DH or DSs uncomfortable in tuxes. DSs wear their suits several times a week now and are very comfortable in a suit and tie... so maybe I should leave it at that and just bring their suits...

How much more undecided can I get??? LOL :p

LOL SeaSpray! I don't know what to do either :p

I guess I'll leave it up to him. He doesn't have a suit, he doesn't own a tux and it looks like the tux rental you can do through the ship may not have a size for him.

Although that could change in a few days  The kid has grown 4-5 inches since June! :earseek:

(That's why he doesn't have a suit :teeth: )

We just returned from the NYE cruise - my 15 year old son, at first, didn't want any part of it. As the time to leave drew closer we decided (the both of us) how cool it might be for the whole family to be dressed for the big NYE party. We (all of us, including him) were gald that we did. Our family potrait looks awesome. He even purchased one of just himself as a surprise gift for his Mom. She was very excited to have it. It was a great experience for us all. I highly recommend it.

Anyone know of a place that sells boy's tuxes inexpensively? I have looked on ebay, but don't need it until next fall & size will change by then. Any experience with any of the vendors or other companies?

My two teenage sons both wore tuxes on our last cruise and ask me if they get to wear them again this cruise coming up. They liked dressing up special for formal night and it was great to see them all decked out.

I took them locally to get their measurements and then ordered through the company that provides the tuxes to Disney Cruise Line. I did not feel they were to expensive and the Tuxes were delivered to our room when we embarked by our room steward. Then when we packed we gave them back to our Room Steward and it was something we did not have lug around.:p

Does anyone have the web site that you order tuxes online for cruises?
