I guess it is PMS but I have been having a difficult time with the Atkins the last few days.............Or it could be stress (DD just diagnosed with GERD and has been suffering the past few days)

I have overindulged on the Mock Danish, Carbolite bars, Peanut Butter and Chocolate lo carb bars, Trail Mix out of a vending machine (30 carbs per pack)......Right now I have a belly ache!! But don't feel satisfied.

How do you handle the Atkins while either under stress of PMSing??? Thanks...........I am sure that I am not in Ketosis so I don't even think I will check to see if the stick is pink or not (it will just bum me out more)

Rosemary, I find that the worse time for me too. I am having some other health issues and that right now, and am doing just about anything to stay out of the kitchen. I have the worse case of the munchies, but I said I would fast every Friday in Lent and I will...it being TOM does not help at all either.

Stay on the DIS...watch a fave movie, go for a walk, or even keep me company...lol. Just forget what is past and focus on this second and all to come. You can do it...don't give up. hugs

I have found that a big handful of walnuts or pecans helps me during PMS. My MIL takes shelled pecans and stirfry's them in a little butter and salt then lets them cool on a paper towel. Wowzer --- they are yummy! I want to try doing them sometime with a little splenda mixed in with the butter instead of salt.

Try something different. Find some legal treat that you really LOVE and save it for those terrible PMS days only. That way it will give you something to look forward to on those awful feeling days.
:D

Good luck and hang in there! :) PMS sucks! ;) Just do the best you can to make it through your cravings. YOU are in control!!!!

Eat some proteins and fats... the proteins will help fill you up, and the fats will make you feel more satisfied.

Almonds or walnuts are a pretty good snack (if you're past induction).

Avocodos work pretty well... throw one on your salad.

Heavy cream in diet root beer or Diet Rite Tangerine works wonders, as does peanut butter pudding (did I put that one in the recipe thread? Very satisfying at times like that!).

Or whip up some fresh cream into flavored whipped cream or a chocolate mousse.

The sugar-free candy isn't going to help, but you already knew that, didn't you? ;) It's just going to make you want more... get some real food in, it WILL help. Honest. :)

Do you take any supplements such as Evening Primrose for PMS as I find that really helps with the munchies and the Jekyll & Hyde syndrome

Thanks for all the inspiration and good ideas.............it just gets so tough at times...........

Evening Primrose??? I have heard of it but don't know too much about it. If I recall correctly, it is in the vitamin section and in pill form...........how many do you take? do you take them on a daily basis??????

Thanks.............I am interested.

They come in little gelatin capsules and I take 1 a day (500mg).
Truly brilliant - another one I have heard about but not taken is starflower oil - My mum takes them now that she has gone through the 'change' and she swears by them for hormone swings - so does my dad;)

Thanks for reminding me that there is a bright side to menopause. Don't have those issues any more. :teeth:
