Okay, I asked this over on the Budget Board, but it seems a little quiet over there, so I hopped over here. I have loaned my 2003 Passporter out and am now planning our fall vacation. I've considered buying a new one, but is it worth it? Do they change that much in 1 year? Or, should I just be patient and wait for mine to be returned? It's funny, I didn't realize how much I'd need (or maybe want) it until I don't have it, and it's only been gone 1-1/2 weeks. I am a DisneyPlannerAholic:rolleyes:

You are a VERY good friend. I think I would BUY someone a passporter before I let them borrow mine!!

I don't know about your passporter, but mine is completely full of notes etc. by the time we make our trip, so I always get a new one.

Definitely get a new one! The maps are now are pull out and in COLOR! If you can swing it I would buy the deluxe in the binder, so that you can take out the yellow envelopes to take to the parks. I purchased the 2003 for my Dec trip and decided to purchase the 2004 deluxe for my June trip, and I am very glad I did.

:D

When I ordered/rec'd my 2004 Passporter I got a coupon for 30% off a future purchase (which is awesome because I want the DCL version) - but you might want to check it out. I think you can check for the coupon with the ISPN (I think that's what it's called) from your current Passporter - maybe check the website, or e-mail them and they can probably help. 30% off is a good deal! :earsgirl:

I completely agree. The deluxe is the only way to go, and the maps are great.

Plus, the 2004 PassPorter is fully updated, including all the changes, new SSR resort, and has already been updated with even more changes and additions.

I wondered the same thing...is it worth it to get the new one? Being the planner I am, I knew I wouldn't be happy unless I did. I bought the Deluxe and I really like it over the spiral, so I'm happy.

That being said, there is little diff between the 2003 and 2004. The big diff is the maps are much better and in color. It has some little stickers you can put on your envelopes or in the book such as Happy Birthday, Anniversary, Food, Places, Arrows, etc. Plus it has info on Pop Century and Saratoga....but if you're not staying at these, use the park maps and don't care about little stickers, the 2003 will be just fine. Plus the info on PC and S have been updated since printing and you can download the latest info from the Passporter site.

The 2004 highlights the updated info in blue...from thumbing through the book it looks like 2-3% of the info has changed. Not much blue highlighting. If you're checking these boards often, you know all the changes already.

If you decide you have to have the new one....like I did :) ....it's cheaper to order it from Walmart.com even with the 30% off Passporter offers for ordering from them.

I know many others will have a diff opinion. this is just mine.

If you are an AAA member, go check to see if they have one for sale there.
I got mine for 14.00 instead of 21.95 it says on the back!

OK, I just ordered one from Amazon yesterday. I ordered the spiral, thinking the delux was the same thing, just in a leather binder.

I'll have plenty of storage space in the parks (2 strollers, 2 backpacks), so even if I bought the delux, I'd probably still take the whole thing w/ me instead of just pulling out envelopes.

So, are there any other differences that would warrant me switching my order from the regular to the delux version??

The only real advantage between the two is with the deluxe you can take just the pages/envelopes you want to the park with you and not have to take the whole book. Plus there's a few extra pages you can download off the internet site to add in such as Notes, Daily Trip Report and Journal, Autograph Pages, and Updates. And finally, you can take out the pages you don't need or reorganize the pages to fit your trip planning style.

The deluxe comes with a pen and has small slots and pockets in the cover that can hold Orlando Magic Card, hotel reward cards, etc.

I really like the deluxe over the spiral. In fact, I bought the spiral before I knew there was a deluxe and had buyer's remorse all last year :) It really just depends on you and how you like to have info organized and how light you want to travel in the parks.

The info is the same.

I just went online at WalMart.com and purchased the 2004 Deluxe for $25.17 compared to $39.99 on Amazon.com. Thanks for the tip!

You're welcome. Just passing along info someone else gave me back in January when I ordered. Glad it helped save you some money.
