dinotorrid, I think you might have found something new.
I keep seeing posts about Passport PLus, and that's what
AAA called something they have, so AAA continues to be mentioned.
BUT this isn't on AAA's pages, as you very clearly stated! It's on
Disneyland's site, and I found it just like you described, in their vacation package pages, in their brochure by clicking under where it states:

And right there on page 35,

This is very interesting, that they are adding the fun card, I think. And that they are calling it Passport Plus.
Now...are you planning on doing lots of shopping in DTD? Or eating there? The card, or the one that I got with my Costco/WDTC package in Sept, had discounts off of certain amounts of purchases at different stores. I'm not 100% sure we even used ours b/c we weren't there to do tons of buying.
But it's nice to have it without it being tied to a room reservation!
As for the souvenir ticket, that just means a pretty plastic card with a picture of some sort on it...ours were Mickey and Minnie in YOMD colors (year of a million dreams) in clouds, I think. Not so much a souvenir when they TAKE them from you after you upgrade to an AP! Harumph.
Very cool that you described it so clearly, b/c I *think* this is new, for them to be using that phrase when I thought it was a AAA phrase.
