Passover is coming!(HERE COMES SHAVUOT NOW!)

Hi everyone. :goodvibes

So which night are you having it at home (if any) and where are you going the other night?

We're doing first night with the whole family coming over. I'm thinking we may go to our shul's seder for the second night. Otherwise, we'll do a quiet one at home with just the 5 of us.

My husband is incapable of not inviting anyone. He just called me to say we will have guests second night (I can't do first night since I am just flying home that morning and it would really be too much).

A cleaning update: my bedroom and bath sparkle so you can eat off my floors. The rest of the house still looks like a hurricane aftermath. I am off to clean!

My WHOLE house looks like that!! :rotfl2::lmao: I'm going to get started Saturday evening or Sunday on cleaning. Gotta get the cars vacuumed out too by Monday the week of Passover.

Going for the first night sedar at our friend's house. The second night hubby, myself, and son will just spend the evening at home, nothing special.

I am doing 2nd night at home, thinking about doing 1st night at a local synagogue.

First night is at my house this year and the second is at my brothers. Both nights will be family..

Anybody want to post a Seder menu?

I am having chicken stuffed with fruits and nuts, a matzah babke (really a kugel), deviled eggs (because my kids love them) and a salad. I may do a matzah ball soup too. probably fruit for desert. If I am ambitious, I will cook a compote.

I am stuck for second night though. I was not expecting guests and was just going to serve leftovers. Now I have to make something.

I don't have a real menu yet. But, I know I'll have the following:

  • Gefilte Fish (the only maybe. My dad and I were the only 2 that ate it and since he's passed away last year, I am not sure I want to go to the trouble for just me)
  • Matzo Ball Soup
  • Fruit & Nut Matzo Farfel Kugel
  • Brisket
  • Tzimmis (I'll buy this already made)

I think I want to try that chocolate raspberry dessert posted a few pages ago. Other than that, probably just the yummy chocolate candies (like jelly rings) and macaroons for dessert.

Our family does the same thing each year..

I do the matzo ball soup, turkey breast, matzo, ice cream for dessert
sister does salad, veggies, choroset, whoevers house it is at does the grape juice.. My brother does Kosher wine for all of us.and Shamura matzo..My sister and I do the symbols plate.. morror and eggs for me .. my sister does the shank bone

We have found that everyone pigs out on the soup and the choroset with matzo so the rest of the meal is sparse as we are too busy eating the matzo and the choroset..

Do you make your own from scratch? Wow, if you do. That's impressive. I don't have the time this year, but I am thinking of doing this next year, maybe.

my SIL makes geflite fish from scratch.. YUMMY.. My Mom and Grandma did too.. I don't have the nreve to try it..

so there were no Barton's candies in the supermarket and in one of the Kosher stores. How am I going to survive Pesach without my Chocolate Matzah. :sad2:
I may actually have to bake something this year.

Sorry I'm late.

I just got out of our storage space to get the Passover stuff out. (I'm covered in dust.)

I'm going to Israel for Passover. I'm so psyched. No cooking for me this year.

We're usually at my mom's house for both seders but this year we're actually going to be in WDW.

[...]

I know we probably should try, but I'm not sure if we'll keep kosher the week we're on vacation.

Just in case you change your mind, here are two resorts in Orlando with Passover programs and Kosher for Passover meals:

No, not from scratch, although my grandmother used to do it that way. I buy it pre-made and doctor it up a bit.

I'm still seeing it in the stores here in Baltimore, not sure how far that is from you.

I've always wondered what the Passover vacations are like. I always see quite a few of them advertised in our local Jewish newspaper.

Well, I'm flying to Israel tomorrow to celebrate Passover. I'd like to wish you all a happy, healthy, and kosher Passover.

Maybe I'll share a trip report when I return.

So happy to have found this thread!

I read an article in my local paper how the company is not doing well and hasn't put out a Passover line this year. I'm sure that there must be other brands that make chocolate covered matzoh.
My daughter made her own last year.
