Passholder Program Changed - now 2006 Passholder Benefit

If they actually release codes "months in advance" like they say, this is a non issue but I can hear the complaining now that "gee I called at 7:15am today and all the AP rates are gone."

Just my 2 cents. Flame away.

No flames. I have similar worries. So far I don't consider April 8th to very far away. The "months in advance" has me wondering if we will know the upcoming rates 6 or more months ahead of time. It certainly sounds like it is supposed to be a change from the past. It isn't yet, though. Disney is already behind in getting out the late spring/early summer rates. *sigh*

I'm really not looking forward to the June frenzy. :crazy2:

Hubby and I are thrilled. We were used to taking last minute trips and seriously considered not renewing our APs when the BRP came out. I booked one trip just at the 60 mark a couple of weeks ago, but most of our previous ones were booked within 60 days.

Thank you Disney!

sooo happy about this too...we had been trying in the past couple days to get the rate of 49 a night with our ap..but we were trying to book a trip in the next couple of weeks..and the answer was..sorry gotta be at least 60 days out..well....came on here yesterday and saw it had changed..so called and got the 49 bucks a night rate...my son and daughter are gonna be so surprised when we get them up ..and go to the airport...they have no idea..and it is KILLING ME !!!

The "months" thing is what I'm worried about. Months = 2 or more.

Looking back in the "old days" of the AP discount (on the historic chart on Mousesavers.com)....the discounts for mid-April thru early July were released on March 9th for both 2004 and 2005 and April 21st for 2003.

I know that history doesn't have much to do with what the future holds when it comes to Disney discounts....but, I just wanted to throw that info out there.

I would think that they would release something by early February if they want to keep their promise of releasing discounts "months" (as in 2) ahead of time for April bookings....

Speed :teleport:

I received an email this evening about the new change. Wondering how I can swing a trip in May :sunny:

How do you check the AP rates if you do not have the pass yet? Do you have to call CRO? Thanks!

Yes, I believe you can call CRO. I'm an AP holder, and I talked to them and they gave me quotes with no problem. Of course, I have no idea if they could tell I was an AP holder, and thus that's why they didn't give me any problems? :confused3

Or, you can ask someone on here to check your dates for you.

Are these rates available for campsites, anyone know?

I don't think it would be so terrible for CRO to require a voucher or AP to book rooms under this new plan.

Does anyone know if they'll still lower your rate automatically if a better rate comes out, like they did with the BRP? That's the one thing I really liked about BRP so I'd be sad to see that go, which I'm sure it is.

I'm not sure, but I'd assume that they will not
automatically adjust for the current/best discount.
In the past APholders had to keep current themselves
via the DIS or AllEars, etc., to find the best discount codes,
or some people got them by mail or email.
I'm assuming that it's back to the same way,
anyone who wants to get a discount with an AP
needs to keep checking frequently for the codes,
call ASAP and hope there are rooms available.

I just want to add, that it looks like the AP holders were heard. While some liked the new program, most did not (if you listen to those that post here). Some came on and said it's because some of us used the AP wrong, for discounts on rooms, instead of just knowing it's really for park admission. Well, it looks like Disney understood the two went hand in hand. I am so glad they went back to the old way. We had no intention of renewing. That will change with this new plan, that allows us more flexiblility for last minute stays. Thanks Disney, and those of you who wrote to them!

I had booked the "best rate program" months ago then yesterday I checked online and the price was 115.00 cheaper with the new code for 4 nights!! That is a dinner!!! I had to stay on the phone for probably a 1/2 hour but I got them to cancel my original booking with no penalty and book the passholder rate!! WAy to go Disney we thank you!!!!!!!!!!
