Passholder Program Changed - now 2006 Passholder Benefit

Our wonderful travel agent just emailed this to me... thought I would share ... it might answer some questions. :cool1:

The Passholder Best Rate program has been replaced with the “Passholder Benefit Program” which is basically the old style AP rates. They are available for booking 1/10/06 – 4/13/06. You do not need an activated Annual Pass or voucher in order to book, but you will need one at check in so be prepared to purchase one. One change from the old system is that they do state it must be an ADULT pass. We are back to the regular 5 day cancellation policy and the deposit IS refundable now!

For stays from 1/10/06 - 1/15/06 take $20 off per night at value resorts, $40 off per night at moderates or $70 off per night at deluxe resorts.

For stays from 1/16/06 - 2/4/06 $30 off per night at value resorts, $60 off per night at moderates or $96 off per night at deluxe resorts.

For stays from 2/16/06 - 4/13/06 $35 off per night at value resorts, $66 off per night at moderates or $133 off per night at deluxe resorts.

This is wonderful news!!! I'm glad Disney has come to their senses and changed things back to "normal". Who could keep up with all that other junk? This is a great reason to do the Happy Dance!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

:hyper2: thank you disney for listening

now I can get my weekend room. I hope

Great news on lifting the previous restrictions, but the big question will be, will they offer discounts year round, will they be similar to what was offered with BRP, or will the changes simply mean it will be easier to book, but there will be nothing to book. :confused3

I called and went from Fl resident rates at POR to AP rates and saved $56 and same with OKW and saved $73.58.
The CM I spoke with was awesome! He said he (along with everyone else) was thrilled that it was changed and that WDW was "sick of hearing about it"...so they must listen!

We are considering booking a cabin at Fort Wilderness from 2/20/06 - 2/26/06... we already have a suite at the Nickelodeon Family Suites booked from 2/26/06 - 3/3/06. I'm curious if there is an AP discount on the cabins with this new program. We no longer have APs so I am unable to get into the AP part of the website to check. Could someone please check for me???

Thanks SO much in advance! :)

I'm so glad I read this. I had made a reservation for Pop Century at 79/night for feb 3rd-11th. I checked today the rate for Port Orleans Riverside and it came up 79/night. So we called to change the reservation. The guy, who was not friendly (not mean, just kind of there) said he could only come up with $99. Told him it was this rate and he could only find that. So we told him to cancel the existing Ressie and I did it online and got the $79/night. Woohoo!

:)

Thanks so much, helenk!!!!! I appreciate your help! :flower:

Duplicate post - sorry! "I got a server too busy- Please try again later" message when I hit submit so I didn't think the first post went thru. :confused3

Now to wait and see what I can see for later in April when I'm taking my son back to celebrate his 8th birthday...shhhhh! :cool1:

I just checked and there was no change in my rates for our 2/10 - 2/18 trip. I am so glad I checked these boards though. Has anyone received an e-mail about the change from Disney? Seems like with all the stuff they send, they'd let us know about this kind of change.

I am SO happy, I wasn't going to renew my AP but now we are pretty sure we will.

Weird thing though. Now we can't get to the AP site online?!?!?!

"Sorry, the page you are trying to access is currently not available."

Woohoo - maybe they are extending the dates!!!!!

I may be in the minority here but here goes. My only gripe with the AP program in the past was the fact that many people (you know who you are LOL) booked an AP rate without having an AP and had no intention of buying one. Now although the system allowed this, it always seemed unfair that the folks who actually had an AP could not book because the rates were snapped up. I know this has been argued many times but it appeared to many, myself included, that many of these rooms reserved on the premise of an AP were never "serious" reservations and would be cancelled later on. Although I agree the discounts in the past were better, at least the BRP let you secure a discounted rate with your AP. I guess my concern is that this will turn into another dialling frenzy as in the past. I realize that many folks lived for those frenzies, I just wasn't one of them. If they actually release codes "months in advance" like they say, this is a non issue but I can hear the complaining now that "gee I called at 7:15am today and all the AP rates are gone."

Just my 2 cents. Flame away.

Cheers,

Schuey

The site is back up, I just got two nights at All-Star Music for the Expedition Everest Preview!!!!

We were going anyway, but staying offsite, and eating offsite, because they announced this Passholder event AFTER the 60-day window had closed. Now that they opened the dates to where we could book Passholder rates, then I'm willing to give Disney my money.

Now, I'm not saying I'm entitled to a Passholder rate for every trip, and if all the passholder rates had been sold out, or no passholder rates at all, I would have booked at AAA rate and still given Disney my money, but to ANNOUNCE a passholder event AFTER a predetermined booking window had closed really hit me the wrong way and I told Disney as much. I never heard back on my letter, but it looks like I have my answer!!

I called and changed the reservations for our family of 8 from FL Resident rates at POR to AP rates at CBR and in total saved $423.00. I am loving the fact that they changed changed the AP program cause I never book in enough time for the BRP.
