Passes for 2 Weeks

Hi,

There are five of us staying at Hard Rock for two weeks. While we probably won't go to the parks all 14 days, we do want the flexibility to visit anytime over the two weeks. We thought it would be fun to be able to go and ride Mummy then head over to City Walk for dinner.

With a 4 day ticket being the longest concurrent park ticket available, I am planning to purchase the Annual "Powerpasses" for $189 per ticket (plus tax) for each of us. The blockout dates won't effect us as our vacation starts 17 July.

I just wanted opinions on if there is something I may have missed and if there is a better option to purchase park tickets to give us access to the parks longer than 4 days. Are there any savings/discount if I purchase one of the Premier or Prefered annual passes then purchase the other 4 as Powerpasses.

Hubby and I might get back but the rest won't be able to. I just checked out the Flex Pass and I don't know if we will get over to Aquatica, W&W etc. So the extra $100 for the Flex Ticket probably won't be worth it to us.

We really want to enjoy our time at Hard Rock and take advantage of all the amenities at the hotel - pool, movies, entertainers etc and check out the other resorts. Relax a little, rather than being in the parks and only in the hotel to sleep.

If you booked your room using an Annual Passholder rate, you will need the Premier pass. Our family of 5 visited earlier this month. We bought four of the 3 day Costco passes locally before we left home. The day of arrival I purchased one Premier pass for myself, mainly for the free parking and the APH rate for 1 night at Hard Rock. We had an offsite condo for the week but got 1 night on-site to use 2 days of Express pass. I ended up upgrading my oldest son's Costco ticket to the Power Pass. His pass was in his pocket and got wet and when I asked at the "Attractions booth" across from the exit to the Jurassic Park ride I was just going to get his pass replaced (since it was wet) but I ended up asking how much it would cost to upgrade to the Power Pass and they said it was free. I don't think that transaction was handled properly though because the next night I asked about the cost to upgrade my other son's ticket and was told it would be around $18. We ended up not upgrading our other family member's tickets since they only used 2 of the 3 days so now they can use that third day sometime before 2015. Should we visit Universal sometime within the year, I can inquire about upgrade costs at that time. Anyhow, I was able to get 10% discounts on merchandise and food in the parks with the Premier Pass - that was a nice perk.

Interesting - seems like you got a little Potter magic Our rooms are not booked at the APH rate so we don't need the Premier Pass for the hotel.

Have you checked to see if there's an APH rate for your stay? If so, especially with such a long stay you might find the savings worth it even if it's just one person (or one person per room?).

And don't forget the discounts that a Preferred or Premier gives you. Food and merchandise, even without the hotel discount, can add up.

There's not a discount on buying other annual passes but you would get discounts on rooms, food and merchandise.

At the ticket window we also have a 3 park unlimited pass that includes USF, IOA, Wet n Wild and the CityWalk clubs for 14 consecutive days. I believe that one is $199 but I can double check once I get to work tomorrow.

ETA: Thinking about it, it might be 7 consecutive days though I'm pretty sure it's 14. I will double check and get back to you tomorrow, and check the prices of the Orlando Flex Ticjets because we might be cheaper at the window than the $285 price.

I am happy with my rate. Originally we had club level with the Stay, More, Save More rate at $5506.42 per room. I rechecked and here is what I found:

- Stay More, Save More garden view room, total would be: $4088.92 per room. Saving $1414 each room
- Stay More, Save More pool view room, total would be: $4502.44 per room. Saving $1004 per room.
- Annual passholder rate for a pool view room, total woud be: $4484.32. Saving $1022 each room.
- Bed & Breakfast rate for a Garden View room, 2 free breakfasts per room per day, total would be $4447.60 Saving $1058 each room
- Bed & Breakfast rate for a Pool View room, 2 free breakfasts per room per day, total would be $4861. Saving $645 each room

We took the - Bed & Breakfast rate for a Garden View room, 2 free breakfasts per room per day, total of $4447.60. Plus we get $560 in breakfasts. We are breakfast eaters and this works out for our family and the way we plan to tour. I don't need the two top tier Annual Passes for our room rate.

Will you be purchasing anything or buying food at the restaurants? The Power Pass wont give you the % off discount the other two will. -of course only 1 person (that would "pay") would need to upgrade to the Premier pass.

When we went last month DH got the Premier pass and DD and I both go power passes. We still get all the discounts, shopping, food, hotel, etc. We just needed to show his pass at the registers.

I checked and the 3 park unlimited is 14 consecutive days. Ultimately it just depends on what you think is best... but the annual passes do not include Wet and Wild or CityWalk clubs (CW is included on Premier though).

We have two teenagers who are not over 21 so the CityWalk Club benefit wouldn't apply to them. Just for us 3 over 21's.

We were in the same boat as the OP and decided to go the Undercover Tourist route. You can get the 3-Park Unlimited Ticket with 14 Consecutive Days of "Park to Park" access for $178.95 ($162.95 for a child). These prices includes taxes. However, if you know that you will be able to return within a year, pay the extra and get the power pass.

I think OP might be too close to the trip to order from Undercover Tourist without having to use Express Shipping... but I might be wrong about that. But it is good to know that same ticket is available at the window too.

Undercover Tourist actually has a pick-up near Universal. So, you can order your tickets on-line and then pick them up once you get down there.

Ha, I guess it's good that not everyone knows about that option or I'd be out of a job as a pass seller at Universal.
