Party or NO party...

Not sure on the "ettiqute" of this..so I am looking for ideas/suggestions..ect..

My good friend is graduating with her Associates degree..she has worked VERY hard and has been through alot, including working 60 plus hours a week, going to school full time and raising her dd on her own. SO she has deffinatly worked hard. But she is continuing onto (another) school getting her Bach. and will grad with that in another 2 years.
It would be up to me to plan a graduation party for her if there was to be one, since she really has noone else that would do it for her. Is it common to have a party when you graduate with Associates and plan on going to finish more? And If I did have a party for her..does anyone have any ideas????

Since she is continuing on, I would just take her out to dinner to congratulate her on her accomplishment.

Generally speaking, since you are aware that she is moving on, a party wouldn't be given.

However, I think in this case, her being a mom, working a lot of hours and going to school full time and getting her degree is a big deal. I think she should be awarded and given a party.

I think her getting her degree is a good reason to have a party.

Your friend sounds like she has worked very hard over the past couple of years.

I think some sort of celebration would be appreciated by your friend, whether you had a party or just took her out to eat.

Sometimes you need to go with your gut-reaction, which in this case is "just do it."

Thanks for the replys..her birthday is right around that time too, so I am thinking I can through like a combination surprise party...

Any thoughts on that idea??
