Shipping. Amazon has a couple nice ones for $20 and under and I have Amazon Prime. I am planning to bring lights, ornaments, garland and extension cords with me. Possibly a tree skirt.

Will you take pics of the room and share on here?? :santa: And I am guessing you will have the tree skirt. :goodvibes

So my trip has changed a little bit!

My almost 16 year old & my 14 year old have decided to not go with us on this trip. The 14 year old has the opportunity to go on a cruise with grandparents & I can't let him miss 2 weeks of school for vacations. So, I let him decide & he chose cruise.
My 16 year old doesn't want to go & doesn't want to miss school as he has 2 honors/college level classes this year & wants to do well, he's scared that he will get too far behind to catch up as these classes move really, really fast.
So he is staying home, taking care of the pets instead of having to board them, going to school.
But that means only 4 of us going now! So, I can bump down to 1 room at Pop, save a bit of money, though I'd love to switch to a mod, none that I like have any openings for the FD week, lol.

I'm sad but I've made peace with it. They're growing up, Disney isn't that important to them, yet! My DH & I, the 11 year old & 3 year old will still have an awesome time!

Glad you still have the younger two to enjoy Disney with. By the time the 3 year old "grows out" of Disney, you could have grandkids to take. :goodvibes Your oldest sounds very responsible. :thumbsup2 I am sure you will still have a great trip, just a little different.

My partner and I have decided to have a Disney weekend. I'm going over early tomorrow and we're going to watch a ton of Disney movies together. She also wants to play some Epic Mickey and map out some plans for our trip. I'm so excited!

What she doesn't know is that I'm expecting a package from the Disney Store to arrive today, so she'll be getting a little "x days until WDW" gift, too!

wow, cant believe that you go through all that for the kids to miss school. we are 103 days from leaving for our trip, I told the teacher of my youngest DD that we were going out of town to Disney and the day and she didnt have a problem with it....as for the other 3, one is in middle school and the 2 DS in high school, they just have to get an advance makeup slip and they are good to go(wont get that til the week before we leave). we were more worried about the sports and music concerts, we were able to look at the schedule and see that they wont miss any and the varsity wrestling coach made it known that they are not having any practices that week we will be gone and he(DS) will still hold his varsity spot:)... they too see it as a learning event-we drive so they see the countryside.....Hope it all works out for you, just remember you are giving your kids "the world" and there are many things they learn on a Disney trip!

it is very difficult with the public schools here. Since they lose money for every day that the kids are gone it is not easy to pull them out for vacation. Thankfully, our son is in private school so we always get "Have a great time. Do your homework!" Plus he has to keep a journal for the week.

90 days until our trip! And our MVMCP tix came today :-)

Speaking of, I've been posting from the app on my phone & haven't put our names on the party list yet. It seems that we are the only ones for Friday 12/7. Is everyone just trying to avoid a Friday bc of locals?

Unless you win the Swan & Dolphin Election contest. That would be perfect for F&W. ;)

No problems excusing the kids from school here. Of course it helps that I'm the teacher and hubby is the principal. :lmao: Love the flexibility of homeschooling. Of course, we will have to make up the work during a week when their friends and cousins are off from school. But, that's ok! :cool1:

Seriously though, I can't believe how strict the attendance requirements are in some districts. I can understand if the student is doing poorly, but if your child is performing well, you give enough notice for the teacher to pull the work together, and your child makes up the work... what differnce is it to them? :confused3

I think most people prefer the Halloween party. I have never been to either so we are doing MVMCP this year and will hopefully do Halloween eventually. I think 2014 is much more realistic for me too. DH says 2016. :scared1: Hoping Mickey hits him with the happy stick this trip. pixiedust:

I think the Villain theme just adds an additional dimension that they haven't done with the Christmas Party. I think they could ramp it up but for whatever reason they've opted to keep it more low-key. We decided to pass and do more resorts instead.

Love it!

I had to look this up before I could play. Three months from now I will be taking DS from MK to the resort to meet the babysitter. Everyone else will be heading directly to the Tequila Cave. :)

Another one for Oct 2013!!! I think half the Dec group is going then. I am afraid my Disney money will have to go to boring, responsible stuff next year.

Us too, I'm afraid. I approached the subject with dh today and he says he doesn't see us going back for another FIVE years when HE turns 50. What? Huh? Are you talkin' to me? :mic: Of course, we need a new roof.....let's hope this storm that's coming through our area right now causes enough damage to get the insurance company to cover that one ;) Then maybe we'll re-visit the Oct 2013 trip ;)

Have you seen the one on Pinterest? It is really cute. I don't know how to post the photo here.

No, would love to though. Guess I'll have to search for it

I'm thinking of doing red/green tie dye Mickey head shirts for the party

Me too! I still need to order some of the dyes from Dharma. I'd like to do a camo-type to wear for Animal Kingdom day too.......we just got back from the Disney Store and I got a cute t-shirt there (i had ordered several online but had to return a couple of them because they just didn't look right). I also got a cute Mickey sketch 3/4 length sleeve tee at Target and I got Dumbo on Blu-Ray/DVD. :)

There's also a really good thread here at the DIS on this very topic of tye-dye MM shirts. I've learned a lot from that thread and am about ready to make the attempt!

my kids do go to public school, but it is a smaller town. the teachers are great and the staff does keep track of the missed days, and due to sports we were once given a written letter as to the amount of missed days(only had 8) they said it was a form letter but not too worried as he was/is and A student and while going to these events(sports-wrestling) was in a way representing the school. I see that things are different all over the states, and just thankful that ours are understanding. I do have to look at it as the one DS is in 2 college classes and the other DS is in 1 college class and they will only be missing 3 days for our trip(they will go to school on the monday and tuesday-til 2) before we start our drive south. with a bit of luck like the last trip, they may get a snow day or two! I do always let them know a head of time of our plans, just to make sure the reaction is good and not a shock. this may be our last trip as a family as our oldest will go off to college next year, so we are planning a bit of extra fun!

Exactly! I may feel a bit sad but we will have an awesome trip anyway! My 3 year old is a Disney nut like me, so I feel like I'll have at least him to travel with for awhile, lol.
He is very responsible. I could not argue with his logic. He's never been one to go out, hang out, hasn't really gotten into girls yet, no partying, so I feel comfortable with him being here. It keeps us from having to board the dogs as well! :thumbsup2

Since we have moved down to a family of 4 traveling instead of a family of 6, DH is really wanting us to move from Pop to a Mod. He's never been crazy about the values bright colors, icons, etc & would prefer a queen size bed instead of the doubles. We went with value since we were getting 2 rooms.

Our 1st choice, POR, isn't available with the FD, neither is POFQ. All we can get is CBR or CSR. CBR has double beds, so not too sure about there. Anyone have any opinions on CSR? I'll keep watch for a POR or POFQ popping up if someone cancels but I'm not holding my breath, lol. :lmao:

I liked CSR but request the Cabanas section if you stay there. The resort is very sprawled out. Google a map of the resort. Cabanas 8a is right by a bus stop and is closer to the main building......the Pepper Market is pretty good, too.
