Since we have moved down to a family of 4 traveling instead of a family of 6, DH is really wanting us to move from Pop to a Mod. He's never been crazy about the values bright colors, icons, etc & would prefer a queen size bed instead of the doubles. We went with value since we were getting 2 rooms.

Our 1st choice, POR, isn't available with the FD, neither is POFQ. All we can get is CBR or CSR. CBR has double beds, so not too sure about there. Anyone have any opinions on CSR? I'll keep watch for a POR or POFQ popping up if someone cancels but I'm not holding my breath, lol. :lmao:

We really enjoyed our stay at CSR in Dec. 2009, so much so that we are headed back in 3 months and 3 days!!! :cool1: We stayed in Casitas4 and liked "theme" and location. Buses were great, Maya Grill was delicious, and the beds were very comfy.

In three months I will still be waiting for our vacation to start...trying to sneak some packing in and get Christmas shopping done.

Love seeing the Christmas decorations coming out in stores- makes me feel like the holidays (and vacation) are just around the corner :santa:

When are you going? I heard the pop Warner folks stay at CBR, so another reason to stay away if you'll be there at that time. I've never stayed at CSR, thought about it for this trip, but booked POR instead. I've heard it's nice there, as long as you're close to the main hall. The pool is often said to be the best on property besides SAB.

There's also a really good thread here at the DIS on this very topic of tye-dye MM shirts. I've learned a lot from that thread and am about ready to make the attempt!

I used that thread to make red/yellow Mickey heads for our last trip. The directions and ideas on there are great!

I think this will be the first year I will be happy to see the Christmas decorations come out early since it means our trip is getting closer

I'm definitely very impatient with Halloween this year. Usually we go to WDW for Halloween/F&W/DS's birthday. Now I just want to get them all over with and move on to Christmas. ;)

As I'm reading about everyone checking in with their school board or principal for approval on taking the kids out of school for their trips and realizing I've never done this, maybe I should have? We went on two trips last year over the course of the school year (November and April) and I just let my son's teacher know we were going a couple of weeks in advance. I just thought he's got great grades and he's in the early grades so really shouldn't be a big deal. So far the teacher has always just assigned him the work of keeping a travel journal, so he has to draw a picture and write about each day. I'm so glad we started that on our first trip as he now adds to the same journal for every trip.

pilferk -- welcome!

Valgoof -- I might be going back next December, but it will depend on the BB offer; otherwise, I might like to try for October as well - I'd like to see a Disney halloween :)

Grrrlennyl -- My DS and kicked the weekend off with Disney - we watched Beauty & the Beast last night and I may get him to help me construct the countdown calendar today, but he won't know what the surprises will be inside each day. Thanks for reminding me about Epic Mickey -- we haven't played that in ages! I hope you and your DP enjoy your Disney weekend.

I soo wish we could pull the kids out of school for trips. They are unexcused absences here and after 7 absences (unexcused or excused) I wind up in family court. I have contemplated homeschooling LOL! I would love to be able to take the kids in Oct for the Halloween stuff. I also think they would love the Y.E.S. program. So my only options are spring break, summer break or Christmas break. Ugh, ugh and double ugh!

I am not the creative type, so I bought my mickey tie dye shirts from Etsy. The artist was under the name "rollupndye" and she was great to work with! I know she does Christmas colors too:)

I know what you mean - I usually grumble about rushing the season when I see Chrismas decorations out before Halloween now I'm anxiously awaiting their arrival. :santa:

Suziewan - I only checked with the county school board because my DD is now in 6th grade, earlier grades I wouldn't have bothered. But, you're in Canada - I from the UK and I know if we were still there I wouldn't get it cleared, the US is can be so strict about time off in the public system so I'm just covering myself - maybe Canada isn't as strict?

Nixie - WOW! Family court after 7days unexcused? Whereabouts do you live? Our rules are 9 days unexcused and we get a letter home. 12 days unexcused another letter. 16 and above you are called in to discuss your childs progress etc and why they have been absent and the teacher has to report that to social services saying whether she feels intervention needs to occur or not.

I liked CSR but request the Cabanas section if you stay there. The resort is very sprawled out. Google a map of the resort. Cabanas 8a is right by a bus stop and is closer to the main building......the Pepper Market is pretty good, too.

DH and I love csr and the pool theming is great. Pepper market is good also

Thank you all for your replies! I need to do some more research on CSR. DH doesn't want CBR, he said if we're going to sleep in double beds, we may as well just stay at Pop! :rotfl2:
Are the Cabanas buildings preferred? Is it worth it to pay for the preferred rooms there?
I guess I need to go find the CSR resort thread!

Slightly odd question, but is CSR the resort where you can't fill your mug on your own, they have to do it behind the counter?

Indiana. Here is directly copied from my "School Conduct Handbook":

One unexcused absence: Contact parent/guardian by a telephone call, letter or parent conference.
4. Three unexcused absences: Contact parent by mailing the Official School Notice Concerning Attendance
stating upon the seventh unexcused absence a Delinquency Affidavit will be filed. The school
will attempt to contact the parent by telephone.
5. Seven unexcused absences: Contact parent by mailing the Habitual Truant letter. The school will file a
Delinquency Affidavit with the Status Offender Court Alternative Program (SOCAP). Notification is also
sent to the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

 WOW - thats kinda scary! I'd move :rotfl2:

Logic would dictate that giving the school at least 4 weeks advanced notice and making up the school work should be an "excused absence". It's not like they just didn't show up with no warning.

I'm glad our school is not like that!

Well, pooh pooh: I just ordered all kinds of dye from Dharma trading. :) What colors did she use for Christmas shirts? I ordered 2 greens and 2 reds and am thinking about throwing in a cobalt blue for good measure ;) I just checked Etsy and don't see any of her Christmas shirts on her site right now. I ordered long sleeve shirts too since I think it could get a little chilly at midnight on Dec 11th, but of course, you never know. I'll work on the shirts next week if the dye comes in....if they look good I'll post pictures. If they don't, I won't.

Did your roof survive the storm? :rotfl2: I thought I would make tie dye shirts last year, but I ended up buying them. Then DH and DB refused to wear them.:confused3 We definitely need pics. :thumbsup2

Yes, sadly. It does leak where our covered patio meets the roof at our back door though. I showed dh the Mickey head tie-dye shirts and he said they were nice :rolleyes2 code word for "do I have to wear that"? :lmao:
