Ok so I might have gone to Target at lunch and got 2 pairs of pants. I can be talked into anything!! :lmao: They arent really yoga pants though. They are thicker, more like sweatpants really. I did try on the ones Wedgie mentioned and they are comfy. The lengths are ridiculous!! I am 5'6" and the regular are about an inch longer than I would like.

Comfy Fleece Pants

Can you imagine if we really were named Mr. and Mrs. Tofubeast?! ohhhhh :p

I personally do not think it is worth it unless you plan on ordering the most expensive things on the menu. Yes, it is nice to have meals paid off, but don't forget gratuity isn't included.

Here's a great little article on this very topic.

Thanks for the article. I think we're gonna stick with it. I'm the kind of guy who could eat a nice steak everyday lol. I like the point that people made where they said if you go OOP you would be cheap a lot. Realistically thats me lol. I could save money, but honestly I think I would not eat what I really want to.

My kids are 4 and 6, but they can eat a good amount of food lol

Hi disboarders! This will be my 2nd trip to WDW. I've been reading through the board, presently on pg 91, looking for tips.

My DH, DS 12 will be flying to Orlando from So Cal Dec 1-8. We will be doing Disney, IOA & Universal.

Can anyone give me must do tips? We may never be back (for years) I really want to get the most out of the trip, without killing my husband! :rotfl2:

Thanks!

Here is my advice:

Look at all of the rides/attractions in each park, both at Disney World and Universal, and decide your top 5 must dos per person. Focus on those first, then do more of them after you finish those. You WILL NOT get to ride/watch/do everything, I've been 5 times for at least a week each time and still haven't, so if you go in just planning for some things you won't be disappointed. Trying to do too much is what leads to anger and meltdowns the quickest!

If you don't know which ones you want to do, or are unsure if you will enjoy a ride, use YouTube! I think every ride has at least one, most many, video of the entire ride that will give you a great idea of what it's like.

Unless your DS is short for his age he should be tall enough to do everything, but it depends on how adventurous he, and you and your DH, are. Also, keep in mind that is 2 of the 3 of you want to ride something, the 3rd person can walk through the line with the other 2, then ask at the loading area for the exit. That way the non-rider can still experience the theming, which is often as amazing as the ride itself, and not be left out. :thumbsup2

If I think of anything else I'll post it!

Ok, so our original plan was for our whole family to go stay at Mariott Grande Vista in a suite. Well long story short, my wife and I feel like it was a bit corwded in the room. So what were doing it having all the other party members stay at the condo (which we split price on) and we (Me, Wife, 2 kids) decided to stay on site at Disney....yea for us.

So we're thinking of just going value resort with dining plan. So with the current prices of dining, which I excel at doing....are we gonna get our moneys worth? Here is what we have slated so far...let me know what you think of the places and such. These are only dinner plans as we plan on doing snack for breakfast and CS for lunch

12/2 Paradiso 37

12/3 Akershus

12/4 Boma

12/5 Coral Reef

12/6 Sci-Fi Theater

12/7 Cape May or Ohana

12/8 Crystal palace or Ohana

12/9 Undecided so far

The first key to getting your money's worth for the dining plan is using all of your credits, including CS and snack credits. Then consider how you normally order - entree + dessert for every party member or appetizers, sharing and alcohol. Price out your typical meal and see if it saves you money.

There's a big section in the Unofficial Guide that details all the variables and how to calculate it.

Welcome!

This seems like a lot in 8 days. Do you have a general park plan? On the plus side, crowds should be fairly low if you're careful about which parks you pick on which days.

Ha! I love love love the Muppets - when the new movie came out I was skeptical but I loved it.

Went with hubby and daughter and they nearly left cuz I was giggling so much. Double bonus was the bit with Sheldon from Big Bang ... my absolute fav program ....

Sheldon: Why are you crying?
Penny: Because I'm stupid!
Sheldon: That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad.

:rotfl2:

Oh we watch BBT sooooo much I can practically recite verbatim! I live that scene you described and dh and my favorite word is Bazinga ;)

I didn't see much benefit either. But also no downside. Just less to do when you get there.

I remember at Aulani that the on-line check in was great. No going to the desk at all. Great greeting. But I remember thinking that if I wanted to ask for something specific like a room that was on a high floor or something that it wouldn't have worked.

I think my favorite is when he goes through the rock, paper, scissors, lizard, spock spiel. DH loved the "I'm just a blonde monkey to you, aren't I?" "You said it not me."

DH and I enjoyed our meal at Sanaa. But personally I like Boma better.
When we ate at Marrakesh (granted, about 5 years ago) DH & I were disappointed. The other 8 adults all seemed to like it though. We thought it was kind of bland (both had the chicken) compared to what we expected. Don't think we'll go back there. I would go back to Sanaa.

Honestly, I believe in trying everything once yourself and not going by reviews. Everyone's tastes and expectations are different.

A Moroccan restaurant that was bland? Makes me think that they are worried that the average eater at WDW night not be open for new tastes?

How could I forget?!? I didn't share my pants-excitement with you guys.

I am vertically challenged, my hubby is convinced I am secretly a hobbit.

I'm 4ft 11 and finding trousers (pants, although to me pants = knickers = panties) is almost impossible because even petites don't fit me because I am all torso and my legs are ickle.

But I found an awesome pair of yoga-type pants in Target and they do a 'short' length and they fit

Seriously, that is big news for me :teeth:

They do all lengths and I think they will be super comfy for Disney so go have a look girls (and guys, you know, if thats your style). Yummy Comfy Pants

AND there is a 'hidden pocket' although hubby thinks I won't be able to find it

I got a pair at Walmart yesterday but mine didn't have the grey band up top. I'm rather happy with them. I wonder if I can wear them every day ;)

I don't but that is another place I really want to try as I love Moroccan food. It is very flavoursome. We really like 'exotic' foods - I think that is partly because we are from the UK - although we have our own traditional dishes, world food is very much available especially Indian & West Indian food. All our kids are raised on curries from around the world. That is why at home, once a month we do an international dinner and make a big thing of it because my daughter was 3 when she came here and there isn't much 'exotic' choice round these parts.

We eat a lot of different types of cuisine in N. CA especially in S.F. but had the best Indian food in London. Sooooo good!

I love prAna and I saved 47% :) I have a black sweater to go over this, a cute little button up I got at the Gap. :goodvibes

and these 51% off for my daughter. I love rei sales!!

I am mostly want to do online check in so that I can hopefully get into my first night room at AKL after lunch so I can put the girls down for a nap. Also, if I will be doing my moms check in for her first night (she arrives later) and having a potential shorter wait for that is appealing since I am cramming food shopping in during that nap as well :)

That dress is so pretty and I wanted those shoes but I wanted some that would keep my feet warmer. They are way cute!

Yay!!!!

That's us also! 39 days and can't wait...

I have to confess though, I'm getting anxious about the reveal to my kids. My girls are 14 & 10 and they don't know manfriend and I are going WITHOUT.THEM.

Seriously, it makes me queasy when I think of the "drama" that will unfold... his two kiddos won't exactly be thrilled either but they're less um "passionate" than mine... :sad2:

Granted we just returned from an everyone-included trip in June and we're making plans to take the kids next Christmas to celebrate my daughter's 15th birthday BUUUTTT they're not gonna be happy to know we're going in a few weeks...

I know they'll have to suck-it-up but still won't be easy to deal...

Oh yeah? Well check out these new awesome shirts at Disney (scroll down). I want so many of them!!

I saw that and almost posted it here too!! There are so many I want. Definitely need to stop shopping now, so I have money in December. I think I am going to need a new hoodie for sure. And I love the character ones with their names written in the background.

:headache: DS10 has not had a very good start this year with school at all. Some of you may remember in the Dec roll call Part 2 thread that DS broke his wrist over the summer, sprained his ankle last month and had problems with his allergies. Well, now another thing has been added to this saga.

DS lost one of his back baby teeth last week. Ok, so that's normal, right? Not in his case. The tooth came out but the roots did not. Thankfully he had an appointment scheduled for yesterday (yep, on a Sunday). The dentist (who also doubles as DH's co-worker at the university medical library's IT systems dept), finds that the roots did not come out and it's starting to swell, which is what was causing the headaches he was starting to get. In addition to that, 3 other baby teeth had to be extracted to avoid having the same issue. I gave him 2 Advil last night right before he went to bed to help with the pain and to help him sleep (he gets very drowsy when taking 2). He was still in a little bit of pain today and I gave him an Advil to help ease it. Since I volunteer to help serve lunch at his school, he will be due for another one at that time. Thankfully, I can give it to him since the school cannot without a doctor's note.

This poor kid has had nothing but problems since August. He's never missed so much school (which started last month) in the first 2 months as he has this year, let alone gym class. And we go away to Disney in 38 days! I'm praying that we don't have anymore issues from this point on!

CALGON TAKE ME AWAY! (Anyone remember that commercial?)

Hugs to you both :(
