We pack next weekend and leave the next. So excited. We have to pack early as dh is leaving before us.

Sorry I'm such a scatterbrain:rotfl2: We leave home on the the 28th. We will be at wdw on the 30th for 6 nights. This is our 1st December trip. We are so excited. 3 days to go.

Four days from right now we will be on the plane waiting to take off.... AHHHH!!!!! I can't wait! Now we just need to leave my in-laws (I hate how DH drags his feet when it's time to leave here..) I just want to go home and put up the decorations and act like nothing is happening :)

6 Days from now I will be getting up super early to get to the airport for our 8:05 AM flight! Can't wait to check-in to WL to see their beautiful decorations!!

My cough is starting to get a little better :) Should be done with this by Tuesday if I am thinking right. The trouble is I threw out my back somehow. I think it may have been from the coughing. I even skipped shopping yesterday because I was in that much pain. I am still having problems walking and bending. I am worried about work tomorrow. I do have a sick day left, but co-workers get mad about people taking sick days which is just sad...I have been icing and heating and taking Aleve, so hoping it starts helping. Leave it to me to hurt my back when we have less than a week to go.

I just cant believe some of you leave in a few days! 11 months of this thread and are trips are here!:hyper:

I'm so excited!!! Three days, 19 hours and 20 minutes until my flight takes off, not that I'm counting on anything :lmao:

I'm feeling much better this morning. Nose is only a little stuffy, and no more sneezing. I had to work this morning, but I'm off the rest of the day, and I'm going to use it to get set for my trip since I work the next 3 days and then leave! :scared1: :goodvibes

Taaren - I am surprised your suitcase isn't pre packed for all the traveling you have been doing to Cali!
About half the stuff from my California carry-ons went into the Disney roll-aboards. Really like that I finally get to ditch the business-ey interview clothes, though, in exchange for dresses for Palo and California Grill. Plus having to pack for DH and DS6, though my DH is actually really good at packing for himself, just not the Disney stuff (lanyards, panchos, hats, etc).
Mini rant: I was going over the plans for each day of our trip ... What park, what ADR's etc. I told DH that we were going to MVMCP on the 16th and having dinner before the party (at 4:15) at CRT. He started complaining about eating dinner so early. I swear I almost threw my iPad at his head.:mad:But, I took a deep breath and explained that we were lucky to get an ADR at CRT when we only booked the trip two months ago and that we didn't want to waste party time eating dinner! Sigh. I forgot he is not privy to the wealth of Disney information I have learned from the DIS! :rotfl:
Stop telling him stuff, just let him be surprised by your lunner when you get there! ;)
We did the Disney Dream April '2011 and 5 full days at the parks after, we stayed at Animal Kingdom, DS 10's request. The cruise was magnificent, the only problem, I didn't want to get off the ship!

I've worked for State Farm for years and when DS was little, I cut back my schedule to three full days. I took time off when DS was 3. My dad was ill and I took care of him, until he passed. I spent a year basically playing with DS. When I returned to work I have a sweet deal. I almost exclusively work while DS is in school and if he has vacation or sick day etc, I just take him to work with me. I have a nice private office and he is very good about reading (big bookworm) so I can get my work done.

We have had Disneyland Resort passes for about four years. DS and I have spent countless nights, all by ourselves at the Disneyland Hotel. We would spend s few days every trip (1 1/2 hour) drive for us, while DH works and cares for dog.

DS & I went to Europe, over the summer, by ourselves. I hope he is always a good traveling companion.

You will love the Dream, the slide cannot be missed!
It is so hard to leave DCL at the end of the cruise. After the first one both DS6 and I were crying to leave, but fortunately we had a Disneyland trip a week later to help us feel better. Really looking forward to AquaDuck and Castaway Cay!

Our DLR AP's just expired in September. I like having them and popping into DLR whenever we happen to be in SoCal but the way the prices have gone up we just won't be able to justify renewing every year, it'll be every other year from now on ...:worried:

How nice that you're able to work your schedule around your DS like that! I will say that's been one of the side benefits to working in education the last several years, is having my schedule almost perfectly match DS6's. Now that I'm going back to work for a community college, it'll be great because I'll be able to drop him off at kindergarten on my way to work, then pick him up from his Japanese class after school on my way home, the daily routine just fits since the other circ supervisor prefers the later shift anyways.

So, any DVC-ers ... what are the restrictions on room decorations? I wasn't planning on putting any up, but last night DS6 starting asking for Xmas lights, so I was thinking of getting some to stick on the windows with suction cups like our neighbors have, maybe some stars and snowflakes. Is that acceptable at BLT and BWV? Mainly its for us to see on the inside ...

GOOD MORNING MY WONDERFUL FRIENDS!!!!

Ooooooh .... I can hear the clatter of suitcases and the patter of december roll-call friends feet as they start to pack!

Don't forget ........

  • To charge all your chargeable things: phones, cameras etc
  • Pack all your gadgets extra things - chargers, batteries, downloading cables if needed, memory cards
  • Remember to put any liquids (like shampoo) inside a ziploc - you don't want any accidents!
  • Pack a selection of ziploc bags - they come in handy!
  • If you have spacesaver bags (the travel type) take those for dirty laundry, they take up far less room for travelling back
  • If you have one of those shoe hanger things ... you know the type that hang on your closet door? Take one of those - great for keeping bits and bobs in like toiletries, charging cables, etc to save them taking up side-space

How'd you know I was working on this today?

Can I expect more reminders daily? I sure hope so. I need all the help I can get!

11 days and counting here.........

:woohoo: I don't even know how many days it is for me LOL

Yes, expect reminders from me, as they come to me, I'll post them ....

  • Bottled Water - the world only sells Dasani so if that isn't your chosen brand, remember to get some.
  • The resorts do have hairdryers but I found them lame .... don't forget hairdryers, flat irons, curling tongs whatever it is you use!

So went to Staples to get the added Disney Encyclopedia pages printed and bound... They messed it up some but ehh whatever - they have me the binding for free (I didn't even grumble) and I wanted out because the copy guy was super weird!

So off to start packing!

From what I understand there is a "no decoration" policy. If you do decorate you can on the inside, but not doors, windows, balconies, places that are visible to other guests...

I emptied our suitcases from our Thanksgiving trip last night, and started packing for Disney! My husband thinks I'm nuts. Twelve days!

P'shaw.......I've been packed for a couple of weeks. :rotfl2: We don't leave for 13 days. Don't put it off..you are much less likely to leave something behind if you pack things as you see them!

A week from right now, our plane will be in the air heading to Orlando. Can't believe it is this close. I'm starting to get nervous as I was the major planner and don't want anything to go wrong. Of course, with all the great advice I followed on this read, how could it? :lovestruc

Lump in throat! All I can say is it's a good thing I wasn't in WDW last week! Everything on tv made me cry....movies, commercials.....clearly I was ovulating. :lmao: I do expect a few tears during our trip....namely seeing the castle for the first time, esp lit up. Osbourne Lights, Candlelight Processional.......ok, I expect tears a lot considering I'm tearing up thinking about what's going to make me tear up! :rolleyes2

Kathy, I LOVE your tree painting! You are really talented! You need to frame it! :bitelip:

Linda

Thank you, Linda. I probably won't frame it, though....I rather like the plain canvas look plus I'll put it away for next year after the holidays are over. It was a lot of fun to make and I'm so glad one of my girlfriends set the whole thing up!

I wonder if you did some weird twist or something while you coughed? Take lots of Ibuprofen to reduce the swelling.....no backaches at WDW! You are going to absolutely LOVE WL decorations! That is where I stayed the only other time I've been to WDW during December. I have learned so much since then! We have an ADR at Artist Point one evening so I'll have to wait to see the decorations on Dec 15th!

GOOD MORNING MY WONDERFUL FRIENDS!!!!

I bought an ugly turquoise colored one of these when I saw it at the Target $ Spot a couple months ago. It'll serve it's purpose, for sure!

From what I understand there is a "no decoration" policy. If you do decorate you can on the inside, but not doors, windows, balconies, places that are visible to other guests...

Why is there such a rule? I understand not wanting to affix things to the outside balconies and such....maybe it's a safety issue?

So, I'm taking a short break from my decorating. I have my big tree up and all the lights are on. Of course 3 of my strands were messed up so we ran up to Loew's to replace them (100 lights for $1.99-I bought 4 boxes, should have bought more)! We also stopped at the grocery store and spent $50 on baking goods......5 pounds of butter and all the extras........going to attempt to start on my cookies today, even if it's just to make up my dough. That's the hard part anyway!

Who's getting excited? Who's freaking out? :scared1::eek::hyper:

Me!!!!!!! :woohoo:

Yes this is the quote I received from another thread:

"Resort leaders offer holiday-decorating reminder
As Disney Parks and Resorts reflect the spirit of the season with a winter wonderland of holiday decorations, many Disney Vacation Club® Members are decorating their villas in similarly festive fashion. While Disney Vacation Club welcomes the use of safe decorations that don't damage the finishes of the villa, resort leaders are reminding Members that all decorations should be contained within the villa interiors and therefore shouldn't extend to the balcony or other exterior areas...."

One person on this other thread got really nasty about it - calling people who decorated trash :scared1: So glad this is such a nice thread with such nice peeps. :goodvibes

From what I understand its because of the great length they go to theme resorts... Maybe it upsets some people who go for the theme? I guess it's more strongly enforced at the deluxe resorts...

We are nice!! I can't believe someone would do that. I think the general public needs to remember the golden rule - to treat others how you want to be treated! I can get worked up about things, but I try to never resort to name calling. : /

I never thought about it but do you think someone would be angry about me putting up a wreath on my resort room door at POR? I'm not using anything permanent....just an over-the-door wreath hanger. I did think about someone swiping off my door, though......

The Golden Rule.....it's a good rule! ::yes::

The Golden Rule.....it's a good rule! ::yes::

There is no 'rule' that says you can't and if someone does get angry, it will be another resort guest not a CM, and if that's the case, getting angry over your wreath is their problem not yours, AND if that makes them angry then they have no business being at Disney at Christmas. We're there at the same time .... send the angry person to me ;) HA!

As for someone swiping it .... karma means as they run off, they will drop the wreath, their foot will get tangled in it, they will crash to the floor as I happen to be on the way to the food court and I will point and laugh :teeth:

Sorry. I can be ever so naughty sometimes :sad2:

EDIT: I saw on the POR board back in January pictures of wreaths & door decorations :)
