Sounds delicious! Definitely want to see the pics! Whenever I start reading those cake threads I feel like I start putting on pounds just from looking at the pictures ... :upsidedow

I am right there with ya... wait or is it because I went and got Ben & Jerry's to satisfy my sweet tooth.... ;) ok so it's really the junk food I eat while looking at those pictures!

Are any of you forgoing putting up your Christmas tree this year? We are at Disney for the week if Christmas and we will not be putting up our large tree at all. We have a ceramic tree on the mantle and we'll bring a small one for the hotel room. Our boys are 8 and 6 and they say that they don't mind since we will see so many trees there.

No tree here this year-at Disney Dec 18-26 and wont be home til the 29th...the DH doesnt even want to put up the outside lights and such(weather can turn bad plus not home=kids damaging)...I did put up some greenery over the corner unit with lights and told the kids that was all we were decorating. They will just have to enjoy any of the new ornaments next year.

Poor guy. That is a lot to handle at his age. I think it is a great idea to bring some of his favorite things from home. Like others have said, hopefully being at Disney will keep his mind occupied and all the activities will make him ready to fall asleep easily at bed time. I have a 4 yr old dd that doesn't fall asleep easily (even at home with our nightly routine) but when we were at Disney last year, she fell asleep before I could even cover her up because we had been going all day long. Hopefully this will be the case for your soon too.

I bet she will love it. Very thoughtful of you to handle, especially when your DH offered very little guidancec!

Well, my bil was in the deer woods all day and probably won't be able to check out the damage until Monday. Based on my DH's description, bil thinks it will be am easy fix and something he can take care of. Now I need an emoticon with crossed fingers.

I feel like I'm trying to come down with something. I've been sneezing all day, have a runny nose, itchy throat, and i have been chilled all day. If I still feel this way tomorrow, I will have to get Zycam or something. I have no time to be sick. Work is going to be insane this week, and I have a Breakfast with Santa fundraiser for our local pediatric hospital on Saturday, which requires me to help set up for all day Frfiday, be at all Saturday morning, and help clean up on Saturday afternoon. I will not get sick, I will not get sick, I will not get sick...:crazy2:

You will not get sick!! I am trying this supplement drink concoction thing DH brought home... That and lots of soup... However if the drink seems to help ill post it!

As for the tree - we are going to cut one down. Our local tree farm offers wagon rides, complimentary hot chocolate, warm cider and doughnuts... We are going up wait until we get back because we don't want it to dry out too much....

So this is the canvas I painted at our painting party today. We all painted the same thing so it wasn't like I came up with the idea or anything.....but the teacher kept calling it a Dr Suess tree......we were supposed to but some red "ornaments" on in addition to the purple...so I made my red ornaments Mickey heads :)

It looks great!!
That kind of party sounds like a fun night out :-)

We have two of our trees up so far. We are decorating because 1) we will be back from Disney before Christmas day and 2) the kids have no idea we are going to Disney so there is no way to explain why we didn't decorate!

Mini rant: I was going over the plans for each day of our trip ... What park, what ADR's etc. I told DH that we were going to MVMCP on the 16th and having dinner before the party (at 4:15) at CRT. He started complaining about eating dinner so early. I swear I almost threw my iPad at his head.:mad:But, I took a deep breath and explained that we were lucky to get an ADR at CRT when we only booked the trip two months ago and that we didn't want to waste party time eating dinner! Sigh. I forgot he is not privy to the wealth of Disney information I have learned from the DIS! :rotfl:

Hahaha I know the feeling! Love my DH but some days!

Wow a lot to catch up on! Hope you have all had a lovely Saturday :goodvibes

I'm very lucky my parents are keeping them and that they love to spend so much time with them. Some day they'll be "to old" for stuff. Taking advantage of it now for sure. I love the memories they'll have.

Grandparent memories are so precious!

We leave 5:30am from central New York. It is myself, dh, dn, sil with 3 cousins joining us from CA. We plan on arriving at okw @ 1pm with a side trip on the way to hh so dn can spend time on a beach. I have really enjoyed reading this thread once I figured out how to find it. lol

Which day do you leave? How many nights? Sorry, I'm nosey :p :teeth:

Yes, SMV is free, but that doesn't make it okay to screw up. If anything it's worse since I have no recourse and they have no real incentive to not make mistakes like this.

:mic: Free or not, that is no excuse. Because of people like you, they get paid. They are a travel agent and although you personally do not pay for the service, they receive a small commission off your booking from Disney. So, in an indirect way, you do pay. They promise a good service apparently ... <<< clicky clicky and yet, they haven't lived up to their claims in your case. Call them, ask to speak to a manager and explain how disappointed you are and that you are having to call DME directly to try and get your tags .... its besides the point whether you need the tags or not. Ok, off my soap box now - a pet hate of mine is bad customer service.

12/1 here at 7PM!!! Guess who also doesn't have a suitcase out!!! Yep, that would be me!!

Haha!! I'll drag ours out the night before :rotfl:

Well, interesting morning at my house. I wanted to finish some more of my decorating and asked DH to get some things from the attic. All of a sudden I hear a crash and some load cursing. DH stepped in the wrong spot and partially crashed through the roof of our front porch. Thankfully he wasn't injured but now we have an unexpected repair bill three weeks before Disney and a month before Christmas. :sad2: I left a message for my bil, who is a contractor, hoping it will be easier to repair than it looks.

Sorry to hear that, what a pain! Glad DH was ok!

I just wanted to say thanks to all of you. My dog died Monday suddenly and quickly and it made me so not excited for the trip. Between being sick with cold/sinuses all month, then getting pink eye from the sinus infection and not being able to go outside due to light sensitivity, I just lost momentum. All of your unflagging enthusiasm has gotten me excited again. So I thank you for your amazing ideas and sad stories too. This thread is awesome and I love reading all your posts, about your weddings, your families and your Disney shopping disfunction.

 So sorry to hear about your dog. Its a tough loss, I know. Glad that we can be here to support, if just in a little way x

Ok so I might feel like a truck has hit me and my head is underwater but I am soooooo excited!!!!

:woohoo::rotfl:

DH - gives me idea and doesn't not really have any idea what needs to happen... "Can't we just ask them for a nice birthday cake when we get there?" :scared:

Hehe...I mean seriously?

HA! Love it :teeth:

So I have a question for the moms. We're going for 12 days. My son is 3 and we moved 5 months ago. He had a really hard time with the move. He got better after a few months and a visit to the old house. Since the dog died, he seems to be having a rough time again with transitions and said he missed the old house (which he hasn't said in at least 2 months) and then asked if the neighbor girl from the old house was dead too. :-( We assured him not and I'm going to try to stop by this week to at least see the house and see if Ariel (yes, her name is Ariel) is around. I'm getting more worried he'll have a hard time being gone from home so long. Any suggestions? We're bringing all the favorite stuffed animals etc and a blanket. Anything else that might help? Poor sweetie, big move, big boy bed and first death all in a few months. My husband says if he can handle being gone that long anywhere, it's Disney. :-)

Off to print Mousekeeping envelopes!

Poor baby, he has been through a lot and it can be very disorientating at that age. You know your child best ... in my opinion, Disney might be the welcome break he needs. He obviously hasn't bonded with the new home yet and the loss of your dog just threw a spanner in the works unfortunately. Going to Disney will take him away from the daily reminders. Maybe, if your schedule allows, take him to Build-A-Dino in DTD - tell him that it is a Disney Magic Dinosaur that will come home with him and help explore the new house and always be there for him. It might help him bond with the home, but also give him something to cuddle when he misses his dog :(

Sorry for your tough times

This is beautiful! And it made me laugh because my undergrad campus had a pine tree in the quad named "The Seuss Spruce". It was damaged in an ice storm some 20 years ago and is still alive!

I'm going to call and do just that. I hate bad customer service too, especially working in the field (sort of) and knowing how it impacts your business to provide sub-par service. She was always very nice, but these kind of mistakes need to not happen.

How was dd's birthday party, Arwen? I love American Girl dolls!

We had a lovely time thank you! DD got some very cool stuff - she wanted furniture type stuff ..... one side of her bedroom is their 'house', she makes a lot of their accessories. The food is very good there too, we had a great lunch, cake (yep, I am eating way too much cake recently HA!) and she got a goody bag with a birthday t-shirt for her doll, an AG book to read and other bits. She is a very happy girl :)

Sounds like a fun day :-)
I really enjoyed going to the AG Cafe & store in Chicago with DD

We did the Disney Dream April '2011 and 5 full days at the parks after, we stayed at Animal Kingdom, DS 10's request. The cruise was magnificent, the only problem, I didn't want to get off the ship!

I've worked for State Farm for years and when DS was little, I cut back my schedule to three full days. I took time off when DS was 3. My dad was ill and I took care of him, until he passed. I spent a year basically playing with DS. When I returned to work I have a sweet deal. I almost exclusively work while DS is in school and if he has vacation or sick day etc, I just take him to work with me. I have a nice private office and he is very good about reading (big bookworm) so I can get my work done.

We have had Disneyland Resort passes for about four years. DS and I have spent countless nights, all by ourselves at the Disneyland Hotel. We would spend s few days every trip (1 1/2 hour) drive for us, while DH works and cares for dog.

DS & I went to Europe, over the summer, by ourselves. I hope he is always a good traveling companion.

You will love the Dream, the slide cannot be missed!

Good Morning December DIS'ers!

So I am trying to buy some items on the Disney Store website and I entered a coupon code to see if I can stack it... Argh it's taking the $5 off and not $20. I guess I'll mess with it later. However I think in getting the kiddos Pjs, some plushes and fleece throws.... And pre-ordering Peter Pan :D

I have a laundry list of things to do today. #1 get healthy!!

I just cant believe some of you leave in a few days! 11 months of this thread and are trips are here!:hyper:

I'm so excited...we leave on Friday after work! That is going to be the longest 8 hours EVER! lol

I mentioned to my boyfriend that I wanted to pack today and he thinks I'm crazy. But I think it will be too stressful running around Thursday night trying to make sure nothing is forgotten.

We're going to see Twilight today, then I'm going to start packing whether he likes it or not! LOL

I emptied our suitcases from our Thanksgiving trip last night, and started packing for Disney! My husband thinks I'm nuts. Twelve days!

A week from right now, our plane will be in the air heading to Orlando. Can't believe it is this close. I'm starting to get nervous as I was the major planner and don't want anything to go wrong. Of course, with all the great advice I followed on this read, how could it? :lovestruc

Good morning!!

I love hearing that so many of your trips start THIS WEEK!! Wow!! We are sooooo close! :woohoo:
