ONLY 5 DAYS TO WDW!!! I'm not the winner but am somewhere on that list. We leave at 2:10 pm and arrive at 11:50pm on Nov 29. I can't believe we're so close. Maybe I should be packing instead of typing?!?

I just wanted to say thanks to all of you. My dog died Monday suddenly and quickly and it made me so not excited for the trip. Between being sick with cold/sinuses all month, then getting pink eye from the sinus infection and not being able to go outside due to light sensitivity, I just lost momentum. All of your unflagging enthusiasm has gotten me excited again. So I thank you for your amazing ideas and sad stories too. This thread is awesome and I love reading all your posts, about your weddings, your families and your Disney shopping disfunction.

For the people with sinus trouble. I bought some tea from the local grocery store--the brand is Yogi and the "flavor" is Breathe Deep. It's amazing. I had a sinus infection for a month and it was still going strong, face and teeth hurting, in technicolor. I drank it and let it steam all up in my face. I didn't feel any pressure the next day. I've never had that quick of a reaction to anything I've tried over the years. It felt good on the throat too.

Wedgie-- I loved the full saga of your house (from pages ago). You should write a children's book about it. :-) One of my favorite movies is The Money Pit. Oh and your daughter's doll is so reminiscent of a certain pink addiction I've seen recently… now, where was that? :-) Super cute. Glad she had a great day.

Terri--I'm so sorry about the plans changing. I think it is just the universe's way of saying you will be planning another trip once FIL is better. Disney has wonderful plans for you. :-)

tmbowers-- so glad you're all ok. Thank goodness for contractors in the family. Maybe some help in that arena could be their xmas present to you?

PhoneixStrength--That's so disappointing when people make a mistake after they've already made one. Makes you feel like it just didn't matter to them. Good news is next trip you'll have complete control over your trip. The whole Disney sends it to them first thing would probably make me nuts.

Mom2Cody06--Definitely agree about the grandparents. I'm feeling that a lot this week. My mom is going with us and she's had a lot of heart trouble over the years. I'm so thankful she's going and gets to experience this with my son. Nothing in the wold like grandparents!

tofubeast--thanks for an amazing thread!! Anytime there could be a new list, you're so all over it. I wish you could whip the rest of my life into shape like that. :-)

I'm glad he's not hurt. Hopefully it'll be a cheap fix :goodvibes:

That's what I was thinking.

So amid all the chaos of the holidays, work, our trip quickly approaching, etc we, and specifically DS, got some good news - his first college acceptance came in. Yay!!!!
Just had to share. I'm so excited for him and a little in shock that it is all so real now!

If you lock him on his room you can make him stay your little boy .......just sayin ;)

Because she booked it for me it has to go to SMV, then me, and I guess she doesn't think they could get it in time since it would need to be overnighted to them on Monday, then overnighted to me on Tuesday since I'll be at the airport 5am Thursday.

I'm just focusing on the being at WDW soon part. I know it will all be okay. And I might still have my packet from February to use pieces from for my scrapbooking, I'm going to look in a bit.

I wonder if you called DME and explained the situation, if they'd make an exception for you and mail it directly to you. I know you want it for scrapbooking instead of actually using them, but DME doesn't need to know that. :rolleyes1

Hello fellow Dis-ers! It's so exciting to see how close some of us are getting to our trips!
How's everyone's weekend looking? I need to get my living room all straightened up so I can put up my tree! I made breakfast for dh and I and my son, who is home from college on Thanksgiving break. I need ONE more cup of joe :coffee: before I will get my hiney in gear!

Today one of my high school friends arranged a "painting" party. We're meeting at a MALL :upsidedow and it's going to cost me $30. I have no idea how this will work but supposedly they teach you how to paint then you make a painting to take home. I'm afraid my hand will just make a Mickey head! Wish me luck ;)
Too funny!
Is your son going to Disney with you? I have two college aged kids and they're really looking forward to it. Plus, it's a lot less stress now that they're older- although I can't assume they'll be responsible, just because they're able! My daughter's plane left at 6 this morning, but she still didn't think to even print out her boarding passes last night. Their default setting is still "Mom will handle it."

......

Yes, SMV is free, but that doesn't make it okay to screw up. If anything it's worse since I have no recourse and they have no real incentive to not make mistakes like this. While I certainly won't let it ruin my vacation, I will also certainly never use SMV again, even if it did save me money since they had an exclusive discount. I do plan on saying something to them about the mistakes and my displeasure about them, as well as telling them the good things too since that's only fair.

Anyway, thanks for letting me rant. Here's hoping nothing else goes wrong before I leave!!!
Oh dear, that's worse than my tale of woe with Priceline this week. I swore off travel agents long ago, so you'd think I'd have learned my lesson. But what you said in bold is so, so true. When dealing with a third party one has no recourse, no leverage whatsoever, people just pass the buck. In my case it was priceline saying oh, "We didn't change the flight time- or the gate- or deny online check in- or (insert problem here)........." But we had to go through them for everything because they sold me the ticket, and I was extra nervous as my daughter is only 18, had a connections in Denver and had not flown by herself before. I will never again go through a third party for travel arrangements, unless it's something where I have no clue- like a safari or trip to Antarctica. I managed to plan a three-week trip to Europe last year and it turned out superfantastic.

Wondering how early I should order mine. It's Amazon Prime 2-Day but I want to leave some leeway to make sure it's there. I'm just getting the tree and air bed because I have to pay that resort fee on every box.

I'm glad I went ahead and ordered. Shipping is free because I spent $45 in "home free" items. They are supposed to arrive on Tuesday Dec3, which is 6 days before we arrive but I know they will hold them for us. I wasn't sure when to order either....I just worried about the time of year!

Guess who just completed online check in for the first time ever ----- this girl (pointing at myself proudly). I can't believe we are in single digits! 8 days until we leave and 9 till we check in.

Again....throwing up a little in my mouth. I'm so excited I could be sick!

Aww, :grouphug: glad we can help.
I will take note of your sinus suggestion. Mine flare up every time the weather changes :(

Have an amazing trip!!! We can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!

I am so sorry about your dog! Take some time to grieve.....maybe think about a new pup after you get home from WDW? I know being sick doesn't help with the emotion...but you are going to WDW! I may have to buy that tea just to have it on hand for when the need arises. I wonder what's in it?

Lol! Sure you are! I am not even kidding myself. Hopefully, I will put up the rest of my Christmas decor tomorrow and Monday and will have the suitcases out by Wednesday. Fingers crossed but I am sure I will be packing Friday night. Ugh, it's the nature of the beast. ;)

If I don't I am in trouble!! Actually tomorrow we are going out for odds and ends for our trip, grabbing a couple groceries for the week and then coming home to pack. Hopefully tonight I can make a list of things that need last minute packing (phone chargers, baby monitor, lovey's, blankets (2 little crib sized blankets to help the girls sleep in a strange place, make up etc) I am going to do laundry tonight as well... I am getting really excited!!!!

I need to go and get the encyclopedia pages printed and bound tomorrow too. If all works out I will post pics!! I am also trying to come up with food ideas for the kiddos on the plane. I don't think I want to bring a bag of ice this time for cheese sticks, milk etc. I am going to buy milk when we get our morning starbucks in the airport...

Ok so I might feel like a truck has hit me and my head is underwater but I am soooooo excited!!!!

Note to self: print boarding passes at home..... :lmao: No. Unfortunately my son won't be done with finals until dec 14th. We fly back home on the 17th. We actually scheduled this as a "parent's vacation"...although my kids would all live to be with us! One of these days.....maybe if we win the lottery?!?

 sorry about your pup :( And the never ending sinus infection! I am going to try that tea- my DH loves traditional medicinals tea but I don't care for the flavor (they have licorce root complete yuck for me) I will have to check out the yogi tea - I drink many other ones made by them,

I have to say - this thread has ups and downs and you guys are like my Disney family :) :grouphug:

I'm so sorry about your dog! And thanks for the tea recommendation, I'll have to look for it!

I'll definitely go back to planning my vacations myself. Only used SMV this time since I could only get FD thru them but its not worth the stress of not having control over some things!

Used Priceline once for a hotel, never again! Sorry you had trouble with them too. It is horrible when a third party company won't take some responsibility.

What date? If its the 29th then it depends what time cybrkitn arrives :teeth: oooh, its a tight race!

LOL, I'm an idiot and didn't even post the date! We fly on the 29th too. :) I know we leave earlier, but I doubt we land earlier since we have a connecting flight in Houston and we're flying all the way from Alberta.

My flight leaves 6:55am and lands at MCO at 9:10am on Nov 29th, so looks like I have cybkitn beaten by about 3 hours! :thumbsup2:rotfl2:

We leave Milwaukee at 9:30am and land at 1:00pm

I'm assuming the 29th Sunnysideup?

We're looking like this ...

1st : PhoenixStrength 29 Nov 9.10am!
2nd : cybrkitn 29 Nov
3rd : sunnysideup3 29 Nov
4th : SAT887 30 Nov
5th : taaren 30 Nov

Aw man! I slipped into 2nd place! Phoenix arrives when our plane is scheduled to leave! Oh well, at least there are only 5 DAYS LEFT before we leave :cloud9:

Ok, so my brain is still underwater from my sinus issues!

Talked to DH and he wants to do a birthday cake for his sis at our Coral Reef Lunch ADR. So I want to call the Boardwalk Bakery and have it delivered... Now, I am trying to think of a theme for her cake... We haven't seen her in ages and she's not into Disney (not that she doesn't like Disney either) This is her first trip there as well... Any ideas? Do you think I should just ask for pretty flowers or what?

DH - gives me idea and doesn't not really have any idea what needs to happen... "Can't we just ask them for a nice birthday cake when we get there?" :scared:

Hehe...I mean seriously?

:offtopic: from anything being discussed now:

Victoria and Albert's still has openings almost every day 12/16-12/20. Has anyone eaten there before?

Does she like aquatic life (fish, turtles, dolphins)? Maybe do that since you'll be at Coral Reef? :confused3
