PART FOUR!! *December 2012 Roll Call* Holidays, FLE & MVMCP!! A very, merry thread!

Wow! A lot of multi-quoting for me today. Ok, here I go...

I've been thinking about what to bring. We have 3 suitcases that are 24 inches each, so I can't pack anything too thick or it will take up too much room. I have some Christmas sweatshirts (that are kind of light) that I was thinking of bringing. Plus I have my fleece that came with my Columbia winter jacket. I wear that by itself and under different jackets. So that will help. I didn't think about bringing gloves, but maybe I should.

I've thought about using the lockers on our last trip back in October of 2006, but we never used them. I just used my backpack to carry everything. I guess, my issue with that is if we are all the way in the back of the park and the locker with our stuff in it is all the way in the front of the park. Anyone know how much it costs to rent a locker if we do decide to use one? Also, how big are they?

I graduated in 1990. DH in 1988.

Yep, the show returns in 2 weeks. When I looked at the calendar last night I realized that we will be leaving for Disney 4 days afterwards! Which reminds me, I have to make sure DH has Fringe and OUAT set to record while we are away. The latter we will watch on 12/4 since that's a downtime day for us. DH is bringing his iPad.

That's a great idea. I think I may make a stop off at Michaels, A.C. Moore or Staples to see about finding that. I was going to use the white card stock we have here, but lime green card stock (if I can find it) will definitely help me save on our ink cartridges

Btw, for those wondering how to laminate your LGMH's. I bought the small laminating sheets for business cards and such the last time. It worked out great.

You remind me of DH. He drinks diet soda anytime of the day.

I just bought the small envelopes to print out our mousekeeping envelopes. Now I have to take the time to do it.

It's getting closer, yet it still seems so far away. Everything in the planning is now done and set up. Now it's just the packing and small things like mousekeeping envelopes and LGMH's that we have to do. It will be here before we know it and then over before we know it!

I'll be packing my 26" and a 21" suitcase. Plus a duffle and a backpack as a purse. DBF thinks I pack a lot for the weekends away. He hasn't seen anything yet. :rotfl2:

I graduated in 1989. DBF in 1988. I was in the mall on Saturday and it looked like my wardrobe from the 80's all over again.

Maybe I'll stop for card stock too. I need it for the passport anyway.

Thanks for the suggestion of the business card lamination stuff. I was wondering how good it was.

I bought the A2 envelopes as well. I might try to make a few of my own Disigns but I'm still tweaking our penny money wrappers.

We were doing that with Season 1. Our vacation bowling league happened to be on Sunday nights. So we would record it. Eventually we started to accumulate a few episodes so we take a Saturday and watch about 2 eps back to back to try and catch up. Plus the ep's were so good that we just had to watch the next one!

That vacation bowling league is the reason why we are doing Disney this year! We did it for 2 years in a row and placed last both times. Bottom half of the league and last place received a $375 credit per bowler towards a vacation. We have accumulated a total of $1500 in credits in the 2 years we did it. So that all went towards our Disney package to bring down the balance. Basically, you are paying for your vacation, but it's being set aside for you. I guess you can compare it to a Holiday Club at the bank where you put a little in each week and then use it for your holiday shopping.

Good for you!! I remember the Christmas clubs of the past at the bank. I used to do one as a kid to pay for Ski club at school.

We Tivo a bunch of things but we watch football on Sundays. With everything that has been going on we're just behind. I think it's like 3 weeks worth. The last one I remember seeing was Lady of the Lake.

This made me smile today. Thanks for posting; it looks gorgeous ...

I'm wondering about the photo ops, because there will be people like us who really want to participate, but who don't want a photo. DS6 says he wants "to be the guy in jail" or at least a knight, but he's not interested in a picture at all so we'll skip it.

I really hope there's not so many people that they'll close the attraction. I doubt we'll be willing to wait in a line that's more than 30 minutes for Enchanted Tales with Belle. It looks fun, but there's very few things that are worth more than a 30 minute wait for to me, even at Disney.

That's why we're planning to do it first after we grab Peter Pan FPs.

4 weeks from right now, we will be at the 12/9 MVMCP. Going from ride to ride. Enjoying the snow(p) on Main St. And just overall, gasping at the marvel that is the Castle lit up for Christmas.

Three weeks and we'll be boarding the plane. :)

What type of clothing is everyone brining??? I'm thinking just to bring jeans pants long sleeve shirts sweater etc no summer clothes :(

Too early to call. Right now Accuweather is showing low of 57 and high of 74 for the first few days of my trip. But that could totally change. The previous week is showing highs in the 80 s but low of 49.

Good morning disers! A few questions for you today.

First of all on Dec 1st MK is open, I think 9am - 1am. I know they are doing the taping that day. I'm wondering crowd wise if it would be a good idea to go, oh 8 or 9 at night and stay until close? I'm not sure how crowded the park is at night.

Next question. Although I am not staying on property, can I use the transportation system?

In a quandary here.

Thanks!

Thanks! I was thinking maybe seeing it before fantasmic then some how running to fantasmic before it starts? Because I'm not sure if after if I can run to see the lights then run to my ADR at beach club. Ugh this is my only issue lol

Not possible. Even with the dinner package you have to arrive at last a half hour before. After a certain time they open the reserved section to guests in line. Fantasmic is packed for every single show. Plus it would take time to see the lights and its on the other side of the park.

After the show it takes time to get out of the amphitheater and a lot of people head to the lights. But you can walk to DHS in half an hour. So that gives you an hour to get over and see the lights and get out of the park. Tight but do--able. Is the ADR a must-do?

I have a couple pairs of the gloves packed.....i'm only bringing my heavy fleece jacket. It's a Mickey one :) It zips up so I figure I won't be wearing it all the time.....it will make a lovely fashion statement, tied around my waist and all ;)

I know my hubby will be bringing his Ohio State and Cleveland Browns hoodies, though

I'm planning to do the same thing (wearing my fleece around my waist during the day) so we will both be oh so fashionable! My dh will be sporting his Razorback and STL Cardinals hoodies!

*skips in*

Moooooorrrrrning!

I have coffee, I have eyes, I'm ready to find out what Valgoof did :cool1:

You must have better coffee than me. I had two cups and see no skipping in my near future! :coffee:

UG. I had a zillion things multi-quoted and the internet went out at work. It's back now (obviously), but I am not going back through the thread. Thanks for all the advice for my Plan B trip. :goodvibes I won't know anything until next Monday, maybe Friday. I didn't even give DH the options. DB had a concert last night. I left my house at 2:00 and got home at 10:00. DH didnt go with me, so we havent really even talked about it. I just told him I had spent the whole morning on here discussing it with you guys. Part me of wants to do the whole week at POR, but then the practical part knows it would be dumb to not take the free dining for part of the week. I know DH would not want to do a split stay. I would push for that more if it were the value first. I think AKL or POR-POP would just be too much of a letdown. And I dont know what will be available when I call to actually change it. So we will all have to wonder for a few more days. :rotfl2:

Good morning!! My boss' boss is coming in from the corporate office so it will be a long day.

I can't believd dh "thought" he saw that week was taken. Clearly, he has no idea of the stress he has caused you, especially if you do have to wait until the end of the week or next Monday before you know something! I hope it all works out and quickly! Here's some pixie dust just for you!pixiedust:

Morning. I'm barely awake. I have Coke Zero..

I'm packing capris, shorts, jeans, long sleeve and short sleeves, a few hoodies, a cardigan or two and a zippered fleece. I'll also have a hat and knit gloves in there too, just in case. Planning to take a pair of flip flops, two pairs of sneakers, and one pair of "nicer" but park friendly shoes. I'm most likely going to do my signature dining in capris and a plain tee with a cardigan.

We leave in 27 days! I need to finish my mousekeeping envelopes and print my Drinking around the World passport.

I did finish my LGMH - I just need to print it and then figure out how to laminate it or maybe I'll just cover it in packing tape. I think I'll print 2 on regular paper, put a thin piece of cardboard between them, cover it with packing tape and then punch a hole to tie it to my back pack. I put my DIS name in the middle of the head and I used the one with the tiara.

I did look at the Disney Store site last night. I love the Cinderella hoodie but I'm not buying anything else until we get there.

I'm not so patiently waiting to hear what Valgoof decided.

I saw your posts about falling. So glad nothing is broken. Hope everything is back to normal by the time you leave!

Question: did any of you see threads on the tp board about Disney testing a new fastpass procedure? I think they contacted guests shortly before their trips and gave them the opportunity to pick a limited number of fastpasses before their arrival? I haven't seen any recent posts on this and was wondering if they are no longer testing it.

I'll keep my eye out for ya! One question, has anyone ever approached another Diser they didn't know because they had a Lime Green Mickey? What does one say? LOL

I was approached once. But I think she noticed my LGMH only after she listened to me explain to this poor guy in line with us why it was not a great idea to come to the park early by himself to sign his son up for Jedi and get TSM FPs for the whole family.

I keep one on my camera bag. And DSis has one on her wheelchair. I'm upgrading them to the Dec holiday ones though. :)

With this thread, I can imagine all the screaming!

Does anyone know the thread for the how to LGMH? I know Home Depot no longer carries the paint.

There's a link to our Dec holiday version in the second post. :)

I just spoke to a CM and she told me osborne lights start at sunset, so I looked up the sunset times and when I go dec 13-17 it's around 5:30 , I don't really mind where I sit at fantasmic , I've always done the package though so I have no clue how early to line up, I remember few years back I walked in during summer right before it started

I was going to get some lime green cardstock from the scrapbook dept and print an outline of a MH on that and carefully cut it out.

That's what I did last time because my printer can't get the color right. But I'll just live with it this time. Also, I made them bigger than the paint chips.

I have a white Mickey sweatshirt that you'll see tied around my airstrip most of the trip. ;)

I think you'll be fine with that plan. After dinner the park tends to thin out as those with small kids leave, and lines will be shorter with fewer people. And the later it gets the fewer people there will be.

1000th post!! pixiedust:

So those of you bringing a DSLR what lenses and gear are you bringing?

So I need to start setting aside some time to get this stuff done - I need to make a master list..... I am kinda starting to freak out now!!! :hyper:

I mostly just use my zoom lens all the time. But I'll probably bring the 50mm too for some of the indoor stuff. The lighting at character meals is terrible. I took a class this summer to get out of P mode and into Manual but I need a lot more practice. So I expect I'll be on P most of the trip. Just not taking chance on totally screwing something up.

I'll also be carrying my Gorillapod for Illuminations.

I'd guess the start of Osborne will be 5:45-6 that week you're there. There is a little ceremony before they turn them on and such, so there will be a set time for it to start in your map. But there is really no way to see them before Fantasmic. Even quickly walking thru them without any stopping for pics, etc then rushing over to Fantasmic you wouldn't even make it there before it starts.

And it is recommended you line up 60-90 minutes before Fantasmic start time if you don't have the package. So no way you're doing both, unless you cancel your ADR and do the second showing.

I keep telling DH to at least ask if they would make him switch his vacation, but he won't even do that. Then last night, he says he needs to check the calendar again, he just glanced at it the first time and *thought* he saw that someone had his week. :confused3 Doesnt he know he is stressing all of us out and we need facts!!!!!! :lmao:

Thanks. Saw the map, missed the word "marina". :goodvibes

Is it for sure that if someone does have that week, he can't take it also?

My general understanding is that if you avoid the parade itself, attraction lines are good during the day but I would expect those parade people to move to attractions in the PM. Not sure though.

Yes, anyone can use Disney transportation.

The last big test was like a month ago. Haven't hard a peep since then other than the installation of the new machines in all the parks.

If you're not doing the package you need to line up 60 - 90 minutes ahead on a normal day. More if you're going at peak time. It's not about where you sit but whether you get a seat at all.

good morning everyone!!

T-18 days!! (13 work days)

Hope everyone had a great weekend and Happy Veteran's Day!

I'm slowly climbing the walls because DBF hasn't bought our tickets yet from UT... :scared:

I'm pretty sure my packing list is done... :) pretty much taking everything and anything - see, simple?

Can't wait to see more pics of MVMCP and all the merchandise for the buying ;)
