Getting serious about direct - CCV or Poly?

Have to ponder too..when would you want to be able to take a load off & lounge it?

Where is home main base? Can book a member cruise next month for 7 nights off the west coast! Do some whale watching in 2027.

Are you a non Florida resident & want a Sorcerer Pass?

Do I need to go on?

Price Hike….you come on here..this is the “advice” you end up with.

My answer for your specific situation is to buy at the Poly with 150 points. In no world do I think it makes any sense to buy 100 points direct. You lose out on the better incentives and you get 0 benefit. Since you say you do not care about home resort priority then these are the best deal given the lower maintenance fees at the poly. Plus Poly at 11 months IMO is a great option, we love it there. While I do love CCV, it was or first resort after all, I think in your case the Poly buy makes the most sense.

Wouldn’t buying SSR be cheaper overall?

I’m currently paying off a resale contract as well 🙃 honestly I would’ve just skipped this incentive round but CCV being a part of it and Poly increasing in price is giving me FOMO.
I'm with @intamin.

I mean, it's your money, and you are welcome to do with it what you like. But, I'm not sure I would borrow more than I already had to avoid FOMO. DVC-Y is nice. But it's not borrow-money-at-9% nice---at least, not for me.

I am point poor once again and really need points ... This combined with the upcoming price increase has me getting serious about a DVC direct purchase. I don’t have a resort preference as we switch around constantly and hardly ever use our 11 mo priority booking window.

A few considerations:
I do need larger rooms on average. I rarely use my points for studios.

What would you do if you were me?

OP never said they care about future restricted resorts, so this looks like a simple case of needing SAP to upgrade 7 month or less reservations. No need for direct in this fact pattern so I would comb resale contracts for the cheapest contracts available for sale, based on whatever cheap means under OP’s definition of the word.

But the OP did title this thread “getting serious about buying Direct” which to me would indicate they are not interested in buying resale.

Only the OP can explain why direct makes more sense than resale for their use case, given the fact pattern they laid out in their post? Maybe they really do want access to future resorts too?

I have stayed at both Poly and CCV and like them fairly equally.
I am a bit of a point miser.

Although I would really like 150 points, I am more comfortable purchasing 100 right now. Someone tell me why I should purchase 150. 🤣

What would you do if you were me?
Point miser and need larger rooms. CCV. 100 direct points, no.

All these new resorts that youre going to be blocked out of with resale are pricy, even 150 points is on the low side for needing larger rooms.

100 points on average will probably get you two nights at vdh 1 bedroom for example.

Why buy direct if not for the perks or ability to stay in larger rooms at newer resorts? Wait until you are comfortable with 150.
